I’ll preface this by saying that Sekou Smith was on 680 The Fan in Atlanta this morning and he said the likelihood of Horford being moved was minimal at this point.  But I have been playing around with a trade scenario for a few days now with Boston and this is what I came up with.

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=jbuzrsg

Celtics get Horford and Thabo, Hawks 2nd Rounder

Hawks get Olynyk, Crowder, Mickey, Rozier, Mavs 1st Rounder

Any takers, or is this a bad trade for Boston?

TBH I think its a fair trade, the celtics are giving up some good players who are still young but have some league experience which would help ATL rebuild quicker. I would like BOS to keep Crowder and add smart instead, but then again ATL would have to want smart over crowder but IMO crowder would be the better player/fit for ATL.

Im very excited for the trade deadline today, we’ve been hearing so many big names being broughten up in trades but as previous years past usually only 1 or 2 big names get moved at the deadline.

My dream trade as a toronto fan would be a trade somewhat of Ross, Patterson Wright and pick for horford and whatever else to make it work. He would make them an elite team IMO, but I think horford is out of their trade range a more realistic option would be Gibson or Young, but that doesnt necessarily really put them over the top.

Another pipe dream trade scenario would be CAVS/BOS/ATL, love going to BOS, horford going to CAVS and assets going to ATL, I heard rumors of cavs looking to deal with BOS and NO and having anderson coming back the cavs way but IMO horford would be the preffered player bcuz he can shot the 3 but also defend, where Love or Anderson can not. Again dream scnearios and sometimes the trades that happen are the ones we wern’t even thinking or talking about. There is so much hype and rumors swirling past week, but players I would like to see traded or predict are Horford, Howard, Love, Anderson, Teague, Whiteside.

Thats a good/fair trade for both teams. Celtics would need a guarantee from Horford to re-sign though right? They wouldnt trade their future for a half year rental …

By my count they are giving up zero All-Stars.

My bad.  Went over my head, although I thought you might have been joking when I first read it.  Twitter has killed me with believing there are any sane basketball fans left that understand player value.

you get a plus 1 for it being even close to a fair trade, which is really something on here…!

TBH, if I’m the Celtics – quite simply, i’m not giving up Crowder. Anyone but Crowder. Take your pick – Bradley, Smart, whoever…but players as versatile as Crowder are too rare to give up.

Celts could definately use a big man – I just don’t know if Horford is the guy to put them over the top, and you’ve got a very limited window to win with him. I’d probably hold tight for now, see how their Nets picks play out, and then swing for the fences in a season or two after their young guys have developed. But that’s just me.

And the Hawks – well, I wouldn’t get rid of Horford, simple as that. But if I was going to, I’d want at least 1 high pick, or young impact player. Much as I love Crowder, he’s not a number 1, 2 or 3 option in the way Horford is.

So close, but no cigar for me!

Horford scores in the teens. Horford is not a great defender or sniper from outside who stretches the floor. He does not block shots either on a regular basis.
