As a Kiwi, I would be stoked if he goes there.

While he was a good end of the bench player, not sure how he is a GM.

Political Science degree, sat on benches for a decade in the NBA, and now has been around the Spurs in several roles.

Not too different from Vlade Divac.

Some will point to Danny Ferry as a GM, similar Spurs journey, but Ferry did grow up with a father who was a team executive in the NBA.

Doing the player trades, drafts and signings at the Spurs was easy, they had Duncan.  He might struggle without picks at the Nets, and to be able to turn Brooklyn into a little bit of the Spurs, like Atlanta did.  It would seem the common part there is removing Joe Johnson, it worked for the Hawks.

Obviously a step up from Billy King.  Marks also has more NBA knowlegde than Karnisovas they also looked at.

He probably won’t sign Kirk Penney.  Maybe a trade of Lopez, or T Young, to OKC for Adams would make sense.

Bringing in a player for the sole reason that he shares your nationality makes zero sense.

Mika Vukona!  I love watching him play even if the only reason for that is that it makes me feel like I could have been a professional basketball player if that guy can make it.
