valentineThere’s only 1/3 of a season left, but that nice long all star break is going to allow players, especially young ones, to rest up and take their game to the next level.
In his rookie year, Olynyk played night and day better after the all star break. The reason? He got a surge of confidence from being selected to be in the Rising Stars Challenge, after a difficult first half of a rookie year.
I expect Porzingis to ride the momentum of his 30 pt, 5 3pt performance in the Rising Stars Challenge, and play like an all star after the break.
Devin Booker has already taken his game to another level, but I def expect a strong finish that may be even more impressive than his recent play. Making the 3 pt contest, and doing well, will give him a surge of momentum.
Aaron Gordon is another one, especially if his role continues to expand with a trade of Tobias Harris.
Who else do you expect to have a big "second half" down the stretch?
Olynyk getting invited to the 3 pt contest should give him a surge.

high floorParticipantWith his recent rise in playing time the past 7-8 games (and his performance in the slam dunk contest) I think his confidence is rising and will look to take his game to the next level.
I’ve gone back and forth on whether Gordon should focus on playing SF vs. PF… but now I think both Gordon and the Magic have settled on him playing both positions for stretches of games. Lately he’s been rebounding the ball and handling it past mid court (even initiating the offense in some cases). I think we see more of this in hopes that he’ll develop better chemistry with his teammates. I think we see him take more 3’s as well to see if he can keep defenses more, especially since Gordon has the skill-set to pump fake or simply dribble penetrate on the close-out.
Orlando has a big decision to make if they fall out of the playoffs these next 30 games, and they need to decide asap who they will be building the team around. Look for Gordon to be their #1 or #2 guy moving forward.

I CALLED GAMEParticipantJulius Randle go’s beast mode & gets double double happy, revenge on the league for not putting him in the rising stars game.
D’Angelo Russell gets more minutes and gets the starting job back & runs the show.
Aaron Gordon gets extra confidence from the dunk contest & go’s bananas, plus the possibility a of Tobias Harris move.

nill650Participantother than contract year players and those fighting for starting gigs;
the list is short.
I think on winning teams we can expect to see more production out of vets who have been pacing themselves.
the re-emergence of kyrie irving as a premier player in this league will become very evident over the next 3 weeks.
other than that most players are not going to step it up other than returning from injuries,are traded to better situations, or are given more minutes due to a plethora of possible reasons other than deserving it,but don’t want to lose the spot they are in.
on teams that would be watching if the playoffs started today but are right there, I expect to see more injuries than anything else either too them or caused by them. But one player that i think will vastly improve his radar becon is ben mclemore when he finaly gets out of sac town.
