Hey guys, wanted to see what everyone thought about this trade.

Celtics trade: Avery Bradley, Lee’s expiring contract, Terry Rozier and the BKN pick to Atl

Hawks trade: Horford, Sefalosha, Mike Scott and Shelvin Mack

Admittedly I did not want to add so many players for the Hawks to give up but with Lees giant cap number it was hard to make the money work.

Why it works for Celtics: their scoring is too reliant on their guards and getting an all star center in Horford would really balance things out. He is hugely underrated, great pick and pop guy, hard worker, skilled passer and rim protection that the celts need.

Line up: IT3, Smart, Crowder, Amir, and Horford could possibly contend with how good Stevens is.

Why it works for the Hawks: Get great assets back for Horford, Bradley could start or be sixth man, lees money will come off the books at the end of the year, Rozier is a high ceiling back up if they decide to move Teague and the BKN pick is the real sell point.

    Thoughts?

I wouldn’t say that the Celtics would contend with that lineup… And this leaves Atlanta with an incredibly shallow and undersized frontcourt.

     Dream on, Hawks fan.

Regular season is already 2/3 over. A two month rent-out of Horford doesn’t get you A top 5 pick + Avery Bradley on a great contract.

Why would my C’s give up a potential top 3 pick for a pending free agent, who will demand the max and is far from deserving it. In my eyes Horford isnt worth a top 3 pick, hes turning 30 and will become a free agent. Who’s to say when he cashes in he wont be as productive as he currently is.That trade wouldn’t solve our frontcourt logjam either.

What NBA landscape are you living in that Enes Kanter can get a max and play 20 mins a night but Horford does not deserve it? He is far and away a better player than Dwight and Dwight will assuredly have multiple saps ready to offer him the max. Maybe its not an ideal trade but Horford is most certainly worth the max for what he gives you IMO

I guess the trade would have to stipulate that Horford signs on with the Celts after the season, and I did overlook how great a contract Bradley is on. I just think the Celts are too reliant on their guards for points and that will hurt them come playoff time.  If they can make a move for a good big they should take that chance. Also, I am a Bulls fan and would welcome Horford with open arms

Celtics get Horford(If he agrees to extension for a few mill less than max)

Hawks get Lee, Celtics and Dallas First rounders.

The Hawks would make out like bandits in this deal.  They would get cap space with Lee’s money coming off this summer as well as picking up Bradley, who would fit well along side Baze on the wing with Atlanta, a young guard that could easily allow us to flip Teague and move forward with Dennis and Rozier AND that Nets pick?

All for Horford and a few role players?  As a Hawks’ fan, sign me up.  Then we could flip Teague and Korver this summer and move forward next year with Millsap, Bradley, Bazemore, Schroder, THJ, Rozier, the two draft picks (one of which will be top five overall), cap space and whoever else we would get for Teague and Korver?  Would be the makings of a rebuild that would take no time at all.  And if the ping pong balls fell correctly and we landed Simmons or Ingram with that Nets pick…watch out.

Your reasons for loving the trade as a Hawks fan are the same reasons Ainge would not even entertain this deal the OP suggested.  Ainge has already said the Net’s pick is not likely to be moved especially for Horford who is almost 30.

Exactly.  That’s why I said the Hawks would make out like bandits in this deal, thus it would never happen.

Would a deal involving Lee, Sully, Rozier/James Young, Celtics and Dallas 2016 1st rounders be enough for Horford?  That’s probably the most I’d offer for Horford since there are only about 30 games left.

I’m starting to feel like theres more chance of me getting a valentines date than there is reading a realistic trade on this forum.

And just like a defiant feminist who insists she doesn’t need a man to be happy…I’ll just sit at home crying and eating a whole tub of cream while I look at pictures of my friends getting chocolates and flowers on facebook.

Please put me out of my misery with some better trades.

Why would the Celtics do this? Horford is not a great rim protector either. Celtics are doing fine with their rebuild without tanking like Philly, they should stay the course unless a GREAT deal comes.
