Mad MaxParticipantToronto has been playing very good ball as of late and a lot think they are the biggest threat to Cleveland in the East (I still am holding out on Miami and won’t write off Chicago either) but does anyone see this team as they are a serious threat? Derozan and Lowry are playing great and serious canidates for all NBA but it’s hard to forget how bad they played in the past two post season trips (god that was terrible basketball).Obviously anything can happen, injuries or Clevlenad could be playing really bad and Toronto plays really well yea they would win, but I don’t see that happening, and really Cleveland is just flat out better especially if healthy and clicking.
This is probably Toronto’s best shot, Lowry will never be better, Derozan is set to be a free agent, and with their previous playoff struggles, I think Toronto needs to go all out and trade for another impact player. Raptors could use help in the frontcourt, and while they have Carrol coming back, there’s no promise he’ll be 100% coming off that knee surgury, so another wing could be useful. Who do you think Toronto should look for? Realistically who could they get? If I were in charge in Toronto I’d go all in for this season.

mamadouParticipantThey’re in pretty good shape to make moves with 4 first round picks in the next 2 drafts, and an extra 2nd rounder from the knicks, expiring and friendly contracts.
I don’t think they’ll go all in, but at least the’ll try to solidify their 2nd seed and improve their chances to reach the conference finals.

BiggaveliiiParticipantHonestly with Horford being a free agent multiple first round picks would be worth it. I doubt he would resign anyways.

Mad MaxParticipantyou’re a waste of life, and an angry little boy because you have the IQ of a squirel who will never amount to anything more than the troll-faced, slacked-jawed ignoramus that isn’t even worthy of carrying my bags.

TheGuyParticipantHow about Danilo Galinari for some Patterson, Ross, Delon Wright and Knicks ’16 pick?

DolanCareParticipantBlake Griffin is the sexy option for the Raps, but I don’t think the Clippers would do it. Ross, Patterson, Bebe, the Knicks pick and a Raptors pick? That’s probably as much as the Raps can give and that still may not be enough.
Kevin Love could be an even better fit for the Raps offense but a third team would surely have to be involved.
An option I think Toronto should consider is Taj Gibson. He doesn’t give them the offense that they are looking for, but would be a perfect 5 in small ball line ups. Lowry, Derozan, Joseph, Carroll and Gibson would be lethal in transition.

NCarmean18ParticipantI honestly think the idea of adding Markieff Morris would be solid for the Raptors. He just lit the Raptors up for 30, and the Raptors could really use a solid power forward to start next to Valanciunas. Scola is a nice role player, but that is about all he is at this point. He shouldn’t be playing more than 25 minutes a game, and a starting four probably should.
Hypothetical trade scenario:
Phoenix trades Markieff Morris
Toronto trades Patrick Patterson, Delon Wright, 2016 1st Round Draft Pick, & 2017 2nd Round Pick
Why Phoenix does this: They rid themselves of an often-disgruntled Markieff Morris who requested a trade over the summer. Patrick Patterson is a good stretch four option off of the bench, and for $6 million on his contract for next season, Phoenix could also always flip him in the offseason to a team desperate of a floor spacing big to come off of the bench. Delon Wright was a solid point guard prospect coming out of Utah a year ago, and with the Suns likely firesale looming, he could be a nice young piece moving forward. The draft picks are more of sweetners, as they are likely to be later round selections.
Why Toronto does this: Replaces a stretch four with a better one who is a better shooter, better rebounder, better defender, and player who will bring some toughness to this team come playoff time. I think a trade like this would ideally put Toronto over the top for this season specifically, and would give them their best shot at the Cavaliers. Whether or not that would happen is another discussion, but ideally this would give them their best shot this season in my personal opinion.

Mr. HookShotParticipantI like the idea of adding Morris, but the Raptors are giving up too much. Replacing Patterson at PF for someone who is a 4th or 5th option isn’t worth a first and a second rounder. If they want to make a small upgrade, they shouldn’t pay that much.
If the Raptors go all in, they should swing for the fences and try to add a (super)star player, preferably in the frontcourt. Options there are Griffin, Brook Lopez (would push Valanciunas out or to the bench) or someone like Anderson.

r377ParticipantMarkieff Morris’ $8mill per year locked in contract till 2019 is not that appealing to other teams. Yes, he can play a bit when he wants to but his attitude since his brother got traded is not very professional and put alot of teams off. He is shooting just 39% and 28% from 3. Not great stats from a big guy….
Some teams bait others and give their players they want to trade good minutes to get their stats up before trade deadline.
Toronto might have some appeal to Markieff as its one of the closest cities near Detroit, so he can still hold hands and cuddle up with his brother on weekends….
Even though he scored 30 today, I still don’t reckon teams would have to give up too much to acquire him. He has been and will be inconsistent….

mamadouParticipantI like Morris to Toronto, but man, you’re giving way too much for him.
Patterson and their late 1st rounder is fair enough, they wouldn’t select a Morris caliber at 25 in the next draft, it would have been the same kind of money next year(patt and the rookie contract), a late first is worth the improvement, ask the wizards with gortat.
At some point i think they envisaged to buy him out(ala josh smith), but he would have been the biggest winner, would have won on all fronts…. he acted like i never seen before in the nba.
Just saving his cap space, his attitude, an maybe gaining a late first is a good move for them.
Patterson has one more year, he’s real bad this season, but he’s a pro and a good guy, back up/3rd stringer for one more year, it’s not terrible for the suns, weak suns, they’re still lacking nba starting fowards with or without morris, patterson, tucker, warren.
Morris is definitely an upgrade, he’s an elite 6th men if you play him in that role, great fit with biyombo too(D, shot blocking, defensive boards, offensive boards with the chucker morris), keep starting scola in the 20-25 minutes range, your power forward spot is solid.
That team could have as much as 7 double digit scorers on a nightly basis, 9 threats, a way better bench than the cavs( they think its a good thing to start your 5 best players, with no scoring or rebounding punch off the bench).
I hate him, but i could add to his resume that he’s a great performer against cleveland or lebron’s teams, always had good, to great(career) games since his rookie year, he also scores pretty easily on kevin love…
