fliptonnParticipantWith the recent trade rumor about the clippers potentially being willing to trade blake griffin (although still unlikely) an article was published by SBNation about the subject laying out 5 different scenarios.
1. Blake to Heat for Chris Bosh and Justise Winslow
— Bosh helps spread the floor and Winslow provides defense and youth on the wing.
2. Blake to Knicks for Carmelo Anthony
— That offense would be unreal, puts a lot of pressure on DeAndre.
3. Blake to Hawks for Al Horford and Kyle Korver
— Helps ball movement and takes pressure off CP3
4. Blake to Cavs for Kevin Love
— Gamble but could really improve on the offensive end. We’ve seen Love be very efficient in the right system.
5. Blake to Celtics for numerous possibilities (Crowder, Bradley, Sullinger, etc.)
— Adds some much needed depth but doesn’t necessarily improve playoff roster.
I don’t know which one I would go with but I dont see the team winning the chip this year so I think a move wouldnt be the worst idea. What do you guys think? And are we missing any options?

ChrispyParticipantAs a Knicks fan, I would love to see Carmelo moved. He is a ball killer. Put him with someone like Chris Paul and we will see what happens. My concern would be around Kristaps Porzingis. He is a 4 right now, lacking any semblance of the physicality needed for the 5. Blake is obviously a 4, too. I would be afraid that as trade like this would hinder the playing time/offensive importance that is critical to KP’s development. Don’t know how I feel about that one!! On one hand we get rid of Melo and on the other we could F up Porzingis for the near future!

blackflash234ParticipantI think the Raptors will definitely be in the mix. They have 4 first rounders in the next 2 upcoming drafts including the lesser of the Knicks/Denver pick this year. Plus assets in Delon Wright, Norman Powell and Lucas Noguiera. Throw in 1 or 2 of Luis Scola, Patrick Patterson or James Johnson who have all been good this year and they could at least make things interesting. Salaries would be a hurdle probably as the Raptors would probably have to trade Valinciuenas or Carroll to a third team but anytime you can acquire a power forward of Blake Griffin’s calibre, you do it.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantClippers aren’t looking for future picks. This is a team that is built to win now. They will only trade Blake if they can bring back meaningful assets that they feel will put them in a better position to compete for a championship in the near future (which would probably have to include an all-star caliber player). But most likely they won’t trade him at all.

SubZeroParticipantIf Blake is worth Bosh and Winslow, he’s definitely worth more than just Kevin Love

xJumpManxParticipantSome nights he is incredible other nights he fades into the game. Paul I think would bring out the best in him and Love would further open the paint for Jordan. I love Blake just not sure he is a better fit than Love with Cleveland.

canadabasketballisrisingParticipantI agree. The best you could get may be:
Kevin Love, Mozgov, and Shump for Blake, Aldrich, and W. Johnson.
I would do everything I could not to trade shump tho, would want Delly instead.
Clippers get their (undersized) small forward can shoot and play D.

canadabasketballisrisingParticipantIrving, Smith, James, Griffin and Thompson
with Delly, M. Williams, W. Johnson, R. Jefferson, Varejo and Aldrich off the bench.
Lose some depth, but very strong starting 5. Would only happen if the Clips were desperate.

HitsterParticipantWe assume the Clippers want legit assets and not picks. So any other contending team would not want to give up more than they were getting back. Also the Clippers would want someone with at least 18 months on their contract before they hit potential FA like Blake currently has.
Boston is an interesting location as they have loads of assets and Doc Rivers and Danny Ainge know each other well.
If a deal goes down I wonder if a 3rd team who would accept draft picks comes into the mix if the Clippers want proven assets and the 2nd team takes Griffin.
If Blake has annoyed the Clippers you wonder if they might look to trade him to a lottery team almost to get back at him.
One idea I had was Brooklyn if Lopez might want out a deal for Blake balances nicely salarywise and Lopez has an extra year on his contract too. If Brooklyn wanted to really clear cap space too then the deal could include Thad Young and Lane Stephenson too as Lance has a nice player option for next season.
The Nets could then look to flip Blake for some good draft picks to rebuild around.

TripleDoubleScoutParticipantThe trades proposed in the SB article all make basketball sense, but only two are realistic because people forget that these types of deals have to make BUSINESS sense as well. There is no way Ballmer signs off on getting rid of one of the 3 most marketable stars in the league unless it allows them to better compete for the championship. That means Boston and the Hawks are out. Secondly, the other team needs to feel they are either going to improve in the short term or the long term. That means that there is no way the Heat gives up a fan favorite all-star AND a promising prospect on a rookie deal for the next few years for one all-star. That leaves the Cavs and Knicks ideas: although they are flawed on the surface and come with risks, they theoretically improve both teams in each scenario, and the respective fan bases would not riot. If Griffin is moved, which I believe will not happen for the aforementioned financial reasons, the Knicks or the Cavs make the most sense.
