I am an perfectionist. I like what I like & u will hold on to hope the all star weekend gets it completely accurate in my (eyes).

I am holding on to hope kobe sits out of the game for some new or lagging "injury" in order to get some rest, & someone who deserves to play gets in, at least Kobe’s name will forever be in history as a starter for this game, so his voters get something.

I seen in a previous thread about rejecting davis as an all star some liked llilard as a candidate. With blake out i really hope in light of a miracle of kobe gifting me, & whoever agrees, that rondo gets that spot. Over the summer so many on here wrote him off. He just comes I to a system.that fits his style & has the kings in the playoff hunt, which I think they will make. He is dropping huge assists numbers & his outside shooting is consistant. I like him over llilard. Llilard is putting up good stats, but I remember when he got hurt the blazers went on a nice run without him, with McCollum leading them, also Damien hasn’t been shooting the ball so well as of late. I’m not saying the blazers are better overall without him, but better defensively, yes, with more ball movement & opportunities for other guys instead of just watch llilard & cj dribble until they pass the ball.

What’s up with the dunk contest, I haven’t heard any info on it? Still, I like more than 4 dunkers. Can the nba just pay the stars to compete? I’m.not really for that, lol but no name guys who got hops are not the same as russell, lebron, & Wiggins. Even of we see dunks we have seen before atleast it’s by a star. This in my opinion is the only setting where a star makes half the event, unlike the playoffs if a team.is good I’m just as content.

The new format of rookie v. Sophomore game. Ok last year was interesting & fun with USA vs world although many knew the world would win. This year, again, seriously? The world has 3 players who are just not good enough. Raul Neto, hezonja, & yes I’m going there mudiay! Dude rookie season is looking like a lesser reincarnation of Michael carter Williams. Can’t shoot, high turnover rate, didn’t he miss a 1/3 or 1/4 of the season so far? Stanley Johnson of the pistons, justise & ty Johnson of the heat should be playing. If there is some requirement for number of rookies, even though there obviously is none for talent, I would sub ty for j.Simmons of the spurs, dude has been quietly balling, just like the organization he plays for. Still popularity reaches out for the draft picks that will generate views & throws it in yo face! Hopefully next year they change it back, especially since there are not that many international guys in the mock draft & half probaly won’t come over in 2016.

Also last quick thought, drummond started off the season hottest center in the game for around a month. He has cooled off significantly. If dude could shoot free throws his number would not have dropped so much. Pau gasol in my opinion has been more consistent than Drummond throughout the season. Up & coming guy on up & coming team was picked.

I like the USA vs. World format. True, Neto gets in over some rookies, but I think this makes the game a lot more competitive, like the Nike Hoop Summit: players have something to play for, the international guys want to show the NBA is not just America, the USA team feels like it is representing its country.

I think the teams are pretty even, the World team is insanely big and has some older experienced players like Bogdanovic and Mirotic. The lineup of will probably be:

    PG Mudiay 6’5”

    SG Wiggins 6’8”

    SF Bogdanovic 6’8”

    PF Porzingis 7’2”

    C Capela 6’10”

Not a deep bench but I think the team will be good. I’m really looking forward to them all playing together.

I think they should go back to the rookie sophomore format for the rising stars challenge, it was cool to see guys from the same class compete with each other and have some sense of bond. It also makes it fairer for the selection in that 10 rookies get picked and 10 sophomores get picked. It isn’t some weird world vs USA game where Neto gets picked and towns who plays on the dominican republic national team is somehow on the USA team.

I have thought that they could tweak this event by making it North America vs. the World.  So, you have Wiggins playing on the "home team".

I am looking forward to seeing Kobe play.  Why not?  He’s a legend and this is the All Star Game.  My favorite All Star performance EVER was Magic Johnson in the 1992 game and he didn’t play THE ENTIRE YEAR.

Since we are going with a Small Ball All Star game (relatively speaking), I would LOVE to see a LeBron vs. Kobe jump ball to start the game.  Let them have the opening tip.  It would be an iconic moment.  Last year featured the brothers Gasol at the opening tip.

I am GLAD though that no Grizzlies player made the All Star Game.  We need our rest.  Marc Gasol (and even Z Bo) have been there before, and, quite frankly, Marc has been up and down this year.

Dunk contest: Zach Lavine might not be a "name" guy but he is as good as they come.  GREAT DUNKER.  Yeah, I would also love to see Wiggins in the event.  If we got those two then I would be happy.  … LeBron is taking some heat for the coaching change.  What if he participated?  That would be great.  There would be ZERO expectations, and LeBron could just have fun with it.

I am wondering if Kobe still has 4 or 5 great dunks still in him.  THAT would be fun to watch.  Get two young guys in Wiggins and Lavine.  Get two older guys in LeBron and Kobe.  Couldn’t top that!

For the most part, I am not an All Star Weekend Purist.

It should be FUN.  It should be ENTERTAINING.  It’s for the fans and a showcase for the league.

As long as they don’t bring back that group dunk contest ill be okay with it, probably the dumest thing I have ever seen. Im not as big fan of the actual all star game compared to the Skills, 3 Point contest and Dunk Contest.

But if they ever go back to that group dunk contest I will never watch again. The only time my mom would ever watch basketball is for the dunk contest and she asks me every year when its on.

Haha was that the one with ‘battle’ and ‘freestyle’ rounds? They returned after a commercial break and John Wall won dunker-of-the-night…and no one knew wtf was going on.

Although the one with the ‘wheel’ back in the day where they had to replicate a famous dunk they’d never practiced was an equally historic bad idea.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The NBA should get a 3 on 3 tournament for the All-Star game. The fans can vote for 8 "captains" Then the captains along with the help of a few "coaches" can come together to select 16 other players to make up their teams.

Obviously it would end up wth a lot of friends playing together but it could be really fun. Could you imagine Lebron, Carmelo and CP3 going up against Durant, Harden and Westbrook? Or maybe John Wall and his buddy DeMarcus Cousins convince Kawhi Leonard to team up with them. That would be pretty cool.
