Roy Hibbert

 All I’ve heard is that the Lakers want to trade him to a playoff team. His contract is pretty hard to move unless the Lakers want to take on a bad multi-year deal. The key to any trade like this is David Lee. He and Hibbert are owed 14 and 15 million. Lee barely plays and the Lakers would drop him, but Hibbert could be useful center for Boston. Any center on their team is questionably a center and are not rim protectors. Hibbert would give a little boost. Boston would have to throw in a little something else, but they have a glut of picks and young guards. 

The Lakers are lost at center. If they lose Hibbert, they’ll have Brandon Bass (who shouldn’t be a center), Tarik Black (whom Scott claims to be "blah" about), Sacre (who should start thinking about Europe), and Robert Upshaw. Upshaw has been called defensively lost in D-League and played over 20 minutes only 3 times this year in D-League. He gets winded too easily. He hasn’t played since the end of December (injury)? 

They need to do whatever they can to get a future center. I don’t know how they do it. The top players in the draft are SF’s and PF’s. The Kings are looking for a trade and I’m sure the Lakers would love WCS, but I don’t see any way the Lakers get him.

This might actually make sense, Hibbert and N Young to New Orleans for E Gordon and A Gee.  Lakers move Young’s future money, the Pelicans get another center option to put beside Davis.  A 3-headed monster of Hibbert, Ajinca and Asik would mean at least one of them would be ehalthy and able to play each day.  Evans, Holiday, Young, Cole, they still have enough guards and Gordon is a free agent and probably out anyway.

Bogut for Hibbert.  The Warriors do this to clear money, if they plan to move Bogut and Iguodala so they can sign someone big, like Durant.  A crazy idea, but it would clear money and Green, Ezeli, Thompson, Hibbert are still around this season to play center, and Speights too.  Lakers take on more money for next year, but can also fill an important spot.  

Maybe the most likely, everyone waits and the Lakers buy his contract out, then Hibbert signs with Dallas for the remainder of the season.

 This is a lost season for the Lakers anyway. Unless they can get back something meaningful in return, they might as well just keep hibbert for the remainder of the year and than see what they can do in fa this summer.

 If a legit contender could match salaries and they needed a back up big or a big for certain potential play off match ups, they would easily consider giving up a late first rounder – 25 to 30 range for someone like Big Roy, anything more I’d be surprised.

If a team thought Roy may do a job going forward and they could fit him into their cap without compromising other moves they may make a bigger push for him.

The Lakers could get some return but nothing spectacular.
