SlickBouncePassParticipantMy bad I missed some obvious names. Let me also try to make this easier to read. Then let’s see if people think I left anyone off. I didn’t even bother ranking 2 guards since there are so few good ones. I just wanted to see which position right now dominates the league. The best Swingmen dominate the league, but PG position is still the deepest.
Swingmen
1. LBJ 2. Durant 3. Leonard 4. George 5. Melo 6. Gay 7. Wiggins 8. Fournier 9. Hayward 10. Parsons
Extras: Iggy, Barnes, Galinari, Kobe — I don’t think Klay is a swingman and he doesn’t play that role on his team.
PGs
1. Curry 2. Westbrook 3. CP3 4. John Wall 5. Kyle Lowry 6. Damian Lillard 7. Kyrie Irving 8. Tony Parker 9. Reggie Jackson 10. Rajon Rondo
Extras: Teague, Rose, D. Williams, Schroeder, Rubio
Top 15 Bigmen (PF + C)
1. DMC 2. Anthony Davis 3. Marc Gasol 4. Blake Griffin 5. Lamarcus Aldridge 6. Andre Drummond 7. Pau Gasol 8. Dirk 9. Whiteside 10. Duncan 11. Brook Lopez 12. Dwight Howard 13. Zach Randolph 14. Vucevic 15. Okafor 16. Jefferson
Extras: Draymond, Love, Tristan Thompson, Porzingis, Gobert, Karl Towns
Bigmen should be able to do it on both sides and be established scorers in the paint. Thats why I don’t like Love and Draymond or Ibaka in my top 15. Towns and Porzingis, good as they are, need a year.
Maybe there should be a stretch 4 category with Draymond, Dirk, Love, Towns, Ibaka, Porzingis in your top 6.
Just having fun and felt the need to correct my list.

treytalkssports.comParticipantSame as before …
"Not sure how Isaiah Thomas is a top 20 PPG for all players and top 10 APG for all players but not a top 13 point guard
He gets over-looked because of his size, but look at the traditional and advanced stats. They all point to Thomas at least being a top 10 point guard in the NBA. Also passes the eye test. Seriously, watch some games on him. By my count, he has outplayed all but two point guards this year."
I think from his stats and his play this year you could argue that he is in the 6-9 tier.
It’s not popular because of his size, but anyone who studies the stats and watches the game without bias comes to the position that he is comparable with Parker, Jackson, and Lillard, with lesser teammaters.

SlickBouncePassParticipantI agree with you and thats why I put up the list. I think he’s a hell of a player and the best guard in Boston. As far as impact on his team, he does it and goes unnoticed. He would probably fall right between Kyle Lowry and Damian Lillard, who has a track record for carrying a team. I like Isiah because he does it quietly, no need to run his mouth. I guess that runs either Rondo or Reggie Jackson out of the top 10.
This is also good reason for the trade of MCW. MCW doesn’t crack top 15, probably not top 20 and I think he’s 24 years old now. If you can get the Lakers first rounder for MCW, you take it, it was a good trade.
I do wish MCW was on this team only for the sake of stability, but I’d rather take the pick and hopefully draft someone else. Oh, I also forgot Conley…I’d put Conley in front of Rondo. Where would people put Conley. I dn’t play fantasy ball, but I’d proabbly put Conley in the Reggie Jackson and Rajon Rondo, maybe D Will and the guys left off the list, list. I’m getting tired of Memphis. Blue collar team that never did enough to change things to win. Needed to figure out how to play with Rudy Gay and the big guys. What kept htem from their championships? Maybe a really good 2-guard. Lke I’d love to see Klay Thompson on Memphis, he would complete them. Unfortunately, its a watered down league, especailly at 2-guard.
Also, Jeremy Lin gets ranked above MCW and the like. For as much noise as the Sixers made by releasing Wroten and resigning Ish Smith…Jeremy Lin is a player that can make decent decisions with teh ball, would have like to have seen him on the Sixers since he was a FA that could’ve been had for cheap. I would’ve taken both Lin and Smith in the backcourt over every one of their guards right now.

treytalkssports.comParticipantI see. Reverse Psychology huh?
By the way, have you watched Thomas play? He is always running his mouth, but it is with a big smile.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantStill no James Harden?????
Also in regard to that bs excuse for leaving Love Draymond etc off because they "need to be able to do it on both sides".. apart from Draymond being one of the best two way players in the league at the moment.. in what world are Brook Lopez or Al Jefferson two way players? Ridiculous
Or the idea that Porz and KAT need a year but Jahlil who again, doesnt fit your both sides criteria, doesnt need a year?

SlickBouncePassParticipantHe’s a throwback classic scoring 2-guard and there weren’t enoguh of htem in the league to rank. This obviously wan’st an all-NBA list. I wanted to rank them just to see which position is at the forefront of the league right now. I want to turn the clock back to 1995 and make a comparison list of the players in the league then and then, compare the talent from then to now. I’ll probably do it tonight.
I saw Draymond play yesterday. How do you rdescribe that guy? He’s like the Barkley of defense. One of my favorite players, undersized but will take on anyone and lifts his teammates by playing his butt off. But he’s not a classic bigman by my definition. He’s what i kinda dislike about the NBA now…the lack of defined roles.
I guess what I meant by bigmen is being able to hold weight in the paint and defend in the paint, not get manhandled, like I saw Kevin Love play D on Okafor and it was a joke. And I threw Dirk in there because I was feeling nostalgic and I remember the days he used to shuffle his feet defending big men of the late 90s early 2000s. I don’t think KAT and Porz have their man-strength yet and thats hwy I kept them off the list. I like guys with Man-strength. Love to me doesn’t have Man-strength. Okafor has his man strength and can hold position in the paint against some of the big boys…

he_gets_bucketsParticipantYou say James Harden is a throwback 2 guard I completely disagree.. he’s a do it all guard, he initiates the offense and has to not only be the number one option but find everyone else in their spots- exactly the same role LeBron plays so why does LeBron get put in a swingman list but not Harden? Because Harden is 6’6 and Lebron is 6’8? This list is the most arbitrary thing I’ve ever seen. Last thing, if you dont include Harden because he is a prototypical 2 guard and you didnt want to rank them- why the hell did you include Fournier and Wiggins who are both prototypical 2 guards??

ChoppyParticipantHarden does it all… except defend, that is. He is a classic 1-way player. Does nothing on defence to save energy for the other side of the ball. I detest that attitude. He has the athletic ability to be a solid defender, just doesn’t try.
Will agree though, that he deserves to be on the list, considering some of the other options on there.
