DunksNJordans23ParticipantThis season has had so much good stuff going on. The Warriors are one million and 0, Kristaps is now a mini god in NY after being booed on draft day, 76ers are trotting out the all YMCA heros team, Kobe has announced this is his final season, and Paul George is quietly playing out of his mind. That brings me to a bunch of random thoughts and questions.
1. Anthony Davis gave us one of the craziest years last year and there was new hope with coach Gentry that making him shoot 3’s would catapult the Pelicans into the next teir. It hasn’t worked out (yet). Should AD just forget shooting the 3’s for now? The team doesn’t have much going for them because of injuries and what not and I understand he might as well develop while they suck but seeing him shoot two or three 3 pointers a game feels a little off to me.
2. Does anyone respect the Clippers anymore? They were the flavor of the month when CP3 came over and they obviously has a good team but are they ever going to get over themselves and just start ballin? Also, I’m just going to beat a dead horse, DeAndre Jordan gets paid almost 20 million a year. There is no excuse to be a 41% career free throw shooter when you shoot nearly 8 of them a game this season.
3. There’s a few younger guys coming into their own now, who are some of the guys you expect to get major pay days? To start a long list I’m keeping an eye on guys like Terrence Jones, Andre Drummond (obviously), Bradley Beal, Evan Fournier, and Jared Sullinger. If any of them have already gotten paid, my bad.
4. Who are some of the young players that you want to see freed? For me, Shabazz Muhammad, Aaron Gordon, James Young, Bobby Portis, Tim Hardaway, and in a way Nerlens Noel (traded from Philly to anywhere).
5. Who are guys that came into the leauge hot that are falling now? I’m looking at Victor Oladipo.

Memphis MadnessParticipantAD might PEAK at 25 and 10-12 a game. WHY should he average more? He isn’t a 7 footer, isn’t Hakeem in the paint, and he isn’t a 3 point marksman either. Maybe this is what he is…
Maybe he doesn’t have any more GEARS.
DeAndre Jordan is still the same guy that got PAID. Not like he was hitting 80% of his foul shots last year. He has ALWAYS been bad.
Yeah, I know, technically Baron Davis is/was an inferior basketball point guard to Chris Paul, but MAN, the Clippers were more fun to watch when Baron Davis was running the show. Blake Show was a TON better too. Can CP3 get guys going?
Never been a fan of Bradley Beal. High volume undersized scoring guards don’t do it for me. He doesn’t even shoot that well. Well, it isn’t a shooting form contest it is a MAKING SHOTS contest.
Beal was a guy I had on the last fantasy bball champion team I had a couple of years ago. Two other guards on that team for me where Victor "the next Sidney Moncrieff" Oladipo. i am betting that Vic is still doing Moncrieffian things. Oh, I had Mike Conley, too. What you see is what you get with that guy — BUT, I think he has started to slow down. Man, one day the Grizzlies Core woke up and all of a sudden they were OLD.
So, that fantasy team a couple of years ago had some pretty mediocre guards. Didn’t matter cuz I had Anthony Davis, Cousins, and Andre Drummond for my bigs. Which goes to show that BIGS win Fantasy Basketball Leagues. At least in head-to-head.
OKC is the Dynasty that never happened. They are doing well, but they seem to be a step below the Spurs and at least two below the Warriors.
LeBron seems to be fading a bit, too. The Cavs aren’t a lock to win a title in the second LeBron Era. They might not even make it out of the East this year.
I thought the Kings would be a little bit better. And, what is strange, is that Rondo is even playing pretty well.
Not sure who comes out of the East this year, but it will be fun to find out!

Hype MachineOne of my thoughts.
There’s a decent chance that Anthony Davis and Ben Simmons are on the same team next season.
Think. About. That.

apb540ParticipantI like your post; summarizes things so far rather well. Makes me think, what about a trade centered around Oladipo for Noel? I would imagine the Sixers would need to include one of their many 1st Rd picks. Sixers should be hyped for a player just like Oladipo and the Magic could really use a rim protecting option.

SkalAndJamalParticipant1. The pelicans need to make a trade, that’s what they need to do. Anthony Davis is not the problem.
2. Doc, the president, is pretty suspect. I dont know how much longer he’s just going to keep having a team that doesnt have a legit small forward that can D up, play hard, and hit open 3s. drafted C.J. Wilcox for no reason. Bring both Lance and Josh Smith, come on.
3. I think Festus Ezeli is going to get a huge payday
4. Hezonja and Oladipo need more PT on the magic. sure Vic is struggling a bit this season and they have been playing better since he went to the bench, but this approach will not sustain. D’Angelo should play at least 33 mins, dump Huertas. Archie Goodwin needs a new team.
5. hmm the Linsanity award… that’s a hard one? OJ Mayo, Tyreke Evans? Is Landry Fields still in the league? if so, him too.

Memphis MadnessParticipantLinsanity’s hair is coming on strong.
some guys peak fairly early. Could be the case with Oladipo and Nerlens Noel.
Andre Drummond and the Pistons are feel good stories.
The East is the Most Improved Conference of the Year.

PulseGlazerParticipant1. The Pelicans are seemingly having a lost year. With that the case, why not let AD shoot threes for a year? See if he ends up good and it becomes a weapon for when the team is ready.
2. Clippers will get respect from teams when they earn it. They’re whiners who choke in big moments and play in an undisciplined manner. In the Clippers-Bulls game, Pau just abused DeAndre. Everytime Jordan went to help, Pau found the exact seam to get open for an easy bucket. Jordan needed Carslile more than Carslile needed Jordan. Between DeAndre’s stagnation and Zaza’s career year, that much is clear.
Agreed more or less on the rest, though I think Beal is overrated.

Memphisboy14ParticipantAs far as Oladipo I think many of his problems came from him having to play with Elfrid Payton. Since his move to become a 6th man he’s played much better.
