JDB12ParticipantThis season has been, and is going to be very interesting. I believed this before the season started and I believe it even more now, that there are not any teams that seem to be separating themselves as the best. With a lot of the top freshman this season going to schools like LSU, Cal, UNLV, Mississippi State, Maryland and other non-perennial powerhouse schools, it seems like this year is wide open for a championship run. The schools like Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina, and other schools that are usually head and shoulders above the rest aren’t at that level this season. Now don’t get me wrong, they are still great programs and those schools specifically are all ranked and have a good chance at winning a title, but in the past it always seemed like they had this invincibility quality to them where they might lose a couple close games to good teams during the regular season, but you supremely confident they would have a sweet 16 or elite 8 appearance if not deeper. This season I feel like teams such as UNLV, Utah, Gonzaga, Xavier, Purdue, Oklahoma, and Providence who aren’t typically championship caliber teams, have a chance to win a championship not only because they are quality teams this season, but the powerhouses aren’t as strong as they have been in the past. This season should be very exciting to watch, and I feel like there will be a lot of different number 1 ranked teams. Tournament time should be absolutely insane as well with a lot of exciting twists and unexpected surprises! Also, is Denzel Valentine going to have a Kemba Walker-like final season and tear through the tournament for a championship? What are your thoughts on this college season?

TWILL123ParticipantThis is definitely going to be a fun and wild college basketball season. Early on, it does not seem like there is a team that is clear cut above the rest, but if I had to pick two it’d be MSU and UNC. Those two seem like they have the best all around talent and depth for the college basketball game. Note that the interesting thing about both of those teams is neither is loaded with surefire 1st round draft picks, which is an unexpected change from the last couple seasons when UK and Duke looked like the best teams from the get-go. If Valentine is able to do anything close to what he has done so far, he is going to be nearly impossible to beat for POY, but obviously way too early to say he’s going to carry MSU to a title the way Kemba did. One thing for sure is that it’s going to be awesome and that March is going to be extra maddening this year.

cjwParticipantWatch out for the experienced teams to thrive in all this chaos like Miami, UVA, Texas A&M, possibly Wichita. But UNC and MSU are clearly the frontrunners so far.
