2quick4uParticipanti mean, i’m sure he’s gonna retire after this season ends but…will he come back¿?
I have a feeling that kobe will come back in 1-2 years after his body rests enough to recover well and also to give some time to the youngsters russell, randle, clarkson to develop..
i also believe the NBA will be generous with the lakers after kobe’s decision, just like they were with cleveland and they’ll probably give them the nº1 pick in the draft to take simmons, whom i think is an absolute franchise changer, a mix between magic johnson and lamar odom that could bring back the glory days in LA…
the lakers also have a lot of money to offer and right now with this core of young players it will be a very tempting choice for players..hassan whiteside‘s contract finishes after this season and he would match perfecly with these young lakers..plus he could also do some acting 🙂
it’s a personal opinion but i truly believe kobe’s hunger and ego won’t let him finish his great career like this..plus we all know he’s got JORDAN between his eyebrows and he’s been copying every step(and move) jordan did so, you now what’s next..he’s already surpassed jordan in the all time scoring list and i’m sure he dies to surpass him in championships, although he knows he’ll never be considered better than jordan but at least his ego will be well fed..
imagine this laker team in a couple of years:
PG: d’angelo russell
SG: jordan clarkson
SF: ben simmons
PF: julius randle
C: hassan whiteside
don’t you think kobe will be tempted to come back for his 6th ring¿?

Gold ChainIt’s so hard to believe he’s retiring. He’s been so awesome this year.
Imma start 5 new threads about Kobe just to start trying to make sense of everything…

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantNo. Kobe knows he is not good enough anymore to win a title with a team that is centered around him as the main option and he wouldn’t want to win one any other way. He has reached a point where he recognizes his mortality and is comfortable with his legacy. This isn’t a case like jordan, where he was still on top when he stepped away which I think was why he was tempted to come back. I can pretty much guarantee Kobe won’t play again beyond this season.

phila9012ParticipantI think Kobe could play a season overseas, in europe or china whether it is next season or the season after so he can rest. I think it would be great for him and the game of basketball if he played a year overseas. Kind of like how the top soccer/football players play in the MLS when they are 35, like david beckham and thierry henry. He would get a ton of love overseas and be able to enjoy basketball for one more time while promoting his brand.
