taking into consideration only this season and nothing else, how would you guys rank Harden, Durant, and Westbrook based on how good they are this season? It’s crazy to think that that OKC team had three guys on the team who would one day all average 27+ ppg with one of em averaging 30. All three are putting up insane stats, but who you got?

    I’ll start it off

    1. Westbrook: This guy’s just on something else. If I made a list of the best overall players in the NBA right now, it would be Lebron first followed by Curry and then Westbrook third. (I know that’s a controversial pick for #1 with how Curry is playing right now, but Lebron’s my guy. Just love his game) Westbrook has propelled himself into the best in the world convo since KD went down last year.

    2. Durant: He’s putting up almost 29 ppg at 52% from the field and almost 50% from 3! He’s not turning it over that much, he’s rebounding the ball, he’s blocking shots… I wanna know what kind of numbers him and Westbrook would put up if they were on seperate teams with solid supporting casts around both of em. It was so hard picking between him and Westbrook, but I had to make a pick.

    3. Harden: 30+ ppg? 6+ rpg and apg? 2 spg? Harden’s putting up jaw dropping numbers as well. The reason he’s at the bottom of the list, though, is his efficiency in getting those numbers. He’s shooting almost exactly 40% from the field and only 30% from three. There’s also always the question of his defense. He’s also the only one on the list who has no one else really detracting from the number of touches he gets, making his 30 ppg not as impressive as Westbrook’s 27 and Durant’s near 29.

    Who you guys got?

Harden took 20 foul shots tonight….. He’s averaging almost 11 free throws a game…. that would be 2nd All Time behind Only Wilt Chamberlain if that were a career mark….

In OKC Harden avg 4.5 Free Throws per game….. Since arriving in Houston that # has more than Doubled to 10 FTA / game….. Not since Allen Iverson has a guard gotten to the Charity Strip that often….

And it’s very impressive b/c it takes A Lot of guts to continuously attack the rim w/ those Monsters in the middle…. But there is a downside to an Offense built around a #1 option that depends on attacking the rim That much….

First, Harden needs to be ball dominant… He lacks Iverson’s Freakish quickness & explosivness…. So Harden soaks up most of the shot clock searching for an alley to the rim…. he needs to work off screens set up by teammates… All this is fine but it leaves most of his teammates standing around watching on Offense……

This notoriously affects teams at the defensive end b/c "a body in motion stays in motion & a body at rest stays at rest…… & Houston is struggling terribly at the Defensive end….

Second, in the playoffs when the game slows to a Half court grind,…… The Refs call games much differently & it becomes harder to get those calls…. & b/c Dwight Howard still does not have a post game, Housten doesn’t have a back up  plan…..

For those reasons I would put Harden at #3…. He’s still a great player – but….. I put Westbrook at #2…. His athleticism is Freakish….. He’s explosive, he can rebound, get to the Rim at will…. He’s just a remarkable talent….

I put Durant at #1 b/c he’s one of the most unique NBA talents we have ever seen…. At a legit 6’10” – & w/ a crazy wingspan he is legitimately Un-guardable… He can rise up & stroke from Anywhere 25 feet in… He does Not need to dominate the ball… He’s such a pure shooter who can roll of screens or Iso & just stroke the rock over Anyone…. But he also has a sick handle… He can put the ball on the floor & get to the rim from the 3 point line in Two steps….

Durant is in his prime & as Lebron starts to get closer to 35, Durant will take over as the best player in the Game….. I think he’s going to sign a 1 year deal so he & Westbrook can hit the Free Agent market at the same time w/ the new Salary Cap in place…. And Durant IS the #1 prize….. Any team that signs him will be an Instant Title contender…..

pretty much, westbrook, durant then harden this year.. I’ll tell you something else.. Warriors look so good right now, but they haven’t faced any great team this year besides the Clippers, and these 2 games have been really close.. IF, and it’s a big IF, OKC is 100% healthy, They will bea the Warriors in a 7 game series.. They lost 2 games against Lebron and a bunch of scrubs while.. How would they Guard Westbrook? (Curry can’t handle him) and Durant (he’s not Lebron, you can’t let him shoot 3s).. I think the Spurs and OKC has a real shot at beating GS in the playoffs..

I hope you’re right, because I really hope this is finally OKC’s year. Curry definitely wouldn’t guard Russ tho, they’d put him on Roberson and have Klay guard him

beat Golden State in a 7 game series….. I would LUV to see an epic 7 game series between GSW & OKC in the Western Conf Finals….. & in The East I’d luv to See Cleveland go up against Miami in the Eastern Conf Finals….

Miami don’t stand a chance against a healthy cavs team really.. I don’t think they will make it this far.

People give westbrook too much credit… Of course hes a great player that puts up great numbers but Without Durant, his efficiency and wins always drops.Without Durant, he didn’t make the playoffs. Without Westbrook, Durant led his team to the second seed.

This is the most ridiculous post on here. You seem to forget that the Thunder last year switched up thier entire team with the additions of Waiters and Kanter, which never gave them a chance to come together as a group because Durant was out most of the year, and on top of that Ibaka, the teams unanimous 3rd best player and defensive anchor, also went down with injury. What Westbrook did last year was incedible, and the fact that that team almost won 50 games in the gauntlet of superteams in the West was one of the most impressive feats I’ve seen by a single player since AI did it back in 2000.

Westbrook in by far a top 5 player in this league, and at this point I don’t know how you can debate it. LeBron, Durant, Curry, Westbrook are head and shoulders over everyone else in the NBA right now.

I would take Durant first, Westbrook second, and Harden third.

Durant I think is better than Russy mainly because of his ability to guard multiple positions, and stroke the 3 ball. Durant is a player who you look at, and you just know he’s going to win a ring one day. It might not be this year, or next, or the year after, but you know it’s going to happen eventually.

You can’t really say the same about the other two, though Westbrook has the luxury of playing with Durant. Best combo since Kobe/Shaq

I agree with what youre saying here. Dont get me wrong, I think WB is a great player and would certainly take him over Harden but comparing Durant to the other 2 is ridiculous in my opinion. Of course theyre 3 of the top players in the NBA but Durant is on a higher level than WB and Harden. My post was more of a response to what the guy above had said.

Harden’s numbers look good at first glance, but he’s shooting a TON of shots to get his numbers, turns the ball over at an alarming rate, forces everyone else on The Rockets to stand around and watch him dribble the air outta the ball AND they’re losing. They only beat Philly by a bucket last night. Yeah, Harden had 50, but if he were more interested in winning than padding his godd@mn stats The Rockets would have a much better record. He’s HANDS DOWN the most overrated dude in the league, and it’s not even close.

actually, he’s shooting less shots than Curry this year, and is still adveraging 30 ppg. He will probably catch Curry too since they need him to score 50 to beat the 76ers lol.. The guy lives at the line so his FG attempts are not that high really.

Actually, Harden averages 20.9fga and Curry averages 20.3, so Harden shoots about a shot per game more. Also, Harden shoots 40% from the field while Curry’s over 51%. So, Harden is jacking up WAY more shots while being considerably less efficient.

I think the Thunder are a bit overrated.  They need to go small more with Durant at the 4 to really unlock beast mode.
