DondiJohnParticipantIMO, no.
Cleveland
Chicago
Atlanta
Miami
Washington
TorontoDetroit, Indiana, New York, Boston, Charlotte and Milwaukee fighting for the last 2 spots. MCW is a bigger version of Rondo. Monroe is one sided only. Giannis is raw. Jabari just got back from injury. They dont have that veteran on the bench that could push these young guys.
Was Jason Kidd’s season last year a fluke?

joe2324ParticipantThe Bucks took a nosedive after trading Brandon Knight. With Knight on this team, I would say they’re in the playoffs and a dangerous team. MCW is just bad, I mean horrible.

cargathusParticipantI think we all knew at the time it was a gamble. It was essentially trading a good young pg for another seemingly good young pg. Brandon knight just looks a lot better at this stage.

DukeDaSquadParticipantThe team got worse when Knight was traded. Didnt think badly of the trade at the time but its not working out. MCW’s play style is more tailored to the personnel than Knight’s and hes having the opportunity to be mentored by one of the great pointguards of the last 15 years with a play style very similar to Kidd’s.
I dont know what is wrong with this team but its pretty frustrating rooting for this team especially with the stretch of blowouts theyve had over the last week. They were one of the best defensive teams last year (top 5), but now theyre like the second worst defensive team in the league.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI’m just leaving the game… Wow… The Bucks got their asses kicked tonight.
There are still a lot of games to be played, but I don’t think the Bucks are a lock to make the playoffs. I know it’s only one game, but they have a HUGE spacing problem. MCW doesn’t even glance… No… Actually… He doesn’t even PEAK at the rim to shoot. I mean, they have too man non shooters. I haven’t looked at the stats, but they have to be one of the worst defensive rebounding teams in the league. They’re also weak defensively. I just don’t like the way this team fits.
Switching to the Pacers… It’s early, but I really think they can finish as a top five seed. PG is BETTER than he was before the injury. Monta’s legs are finally looking strong after off-season knee surgery. Jordan Hill, Chase Budinger and GR3 (he’s impressed me)… All great off-season pickups. Defensively, the Pacers haven’t dropped off. Offensively, they can play spread or big.

mgreener_34ParticipantThe problem with the Bucks is kind of obvious, in that they are 30th in pace, but have the personel of an uptempo team. With guys like MCW and Giannis, the Bucks should be trying to run on every play, but instead they are content with trying to beat teams with their defense (which is horrible this year).
I think the Bucks need to either move on from MCW and find a PG who can create their own offense (someone like Brandon Knight). They have fantastic athletes, and they are not utalyzing their stregths in this regards.
I think it would be a good move to trade for Ty Lawson at this point. He’s relegated to the bench in Houston, and is just a terrible fit there. The Rockets could use some defensive help or at least another 3 and D type of player. A trade of:
OJ Mayo, Chris Copeland, and a 1st for Ty Lawson and Jason Terry would help both sides I would think.
Either way, unless Jabari can get right and prove to be a fantastic half court iso player, this team probably isn’t making the playoffs this year. They were 7th last year, and Miami, DET, Indy, and CHA have all over taken them so far this year. Right now I think these are the best in the East.
1. Cavs
2. Heat
3. Bulls
4. Hawks
5. Raptors
6. Wizards
7. Celtics
8. Pacers
I just don’t see the Bucks ability to pull away from these teams with that offense, and teams like the Celtics, Pacers, Toronto, DET, and Knicks are all top 10 defenses, so they are going to be able to maintain at least a sense of competativeness. I’d be surprised if the Bucks beat these teams out unless they start playing like the defensive unit they had last year.

B-ball fanParticipantThey have too many mouths to feed on offense. They need a less ball dominant PG.
MCW contributes to the lack of pace. He is a terrible transition player. Pretty good with look ahead passes, but no idea how to run the break.
Giannis is way underused. He barely got touches last night. If he received outlet passes, he would help the team.

tuck243ParticipantBucks issues are floor spacing, but it’s not just MCW… It’s Giannis and Greg Monroe too…
In fact, Greg Monroe just isn’t that good. They wasted money on getting him because that dude miss so many easy shots. OMG…
They’re long so they will for the most part be in a lot of games as long as the effort is there. I think the Bucks didn’t want to pay B. Knight and would rather see what MCW could do for cheaper. Now they can try him out and look through the draft or FA for his replacement. PG’s nowadays aren’t hard to get..

NBAjunkie81Participantjust let him walk…. but the floor spacing issues are b/c of MCW – he’s shooting 20.9% from 3pt range so he’s killing them at the Offensive end & at the Def end he just can not stay in front of his man…. I know they did not want to pay Knight…. but that Lakers Lottery pick would look really good right now if Jamal Murray is available at the #4 or #5 pick this summer….

tuck243Participant20% from 3 in his last 6 games. Actually, there are some games he doesn’t take a 3pt shot. Even though the defense is sagging. He much of an issue as MCW when it comes to floor spacing.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantLast year was a very down year for the East, Mia and Indy both had a TON of injuries, Wade/Bosh/George are all healthy and playing well and Those Teams have gotten better
Melo and the veterans signed in the off season have already made a huge impact on the Knicks, Kristaps is also providing them some excitement because of his youth and upside, Jerian Grant was a steal where they got him, I will think they steal a playoff spot 6-8 seed range…
The Hawks have taken a step back but still have a deep team and play smart, The Raptors and Wizards are creeping up on those older teams and threatening to become powerhouses themselves, The Celtics are trying to get back into that hunt too, The Pistons are sleepers to beat you every night
IMO the Bucks will be the Lottery again this Year,8-14 range…
So would the Bucks consider trading Jabari Parker for The Lakers Lottery Pick? Giannis needs a Shooter next him like Jamal Murray???

B-ball fanParticipantMurray doens’t even play the same position as Jabari, so that doens’t make sense.
Jabari should be an above-average shooter for a PF. He isn’t the issue. Team needs to find a coach that doesn’t discourage his players from taking threes.

B-ball fanParticipantThe team has actually been fairly solid on offense. Somewhat due to an easy schedule, but it is a promising offensive team that shoud be nice once Kidd, MCW and Monroe are gone after next season. Team’s offensive system is terrible and consists of bad elbow facilitation sets and a lot of isos. Team plays with less pace than any other team in the league depsite having great transition scorers in Giannis and Jabari.
Defensive system is totally messed up. Even last year, they relied on forcing opponents to play Moreyball and gave up tons of threes. This season, teams have adjusted and it is just open three after open three. Team isn’t going to do much until it totally scraps its defensive system.

HeroescantdieParticipantI think the there still adjustment because of Monroe, he’s new, I’m hoping that in midseason they gonna figure this out and be good, Giannis should benefit from a little bit of pace, he’s a one man fastbreak. the issue is the spacing, they are all rim attackers, look at Giannis and MCW, Monroe doesn’t have a consistent jumper, Parker coming back from injury has not yet 100 percent, and his outside shooting was still not that consistent when he’s still in college. I think if MCW and Greek Freak can hit their 3pt shots the defense would respect them and cover them out to 3pt line, that would mean more space for monroe and parker to operate, or for Giannis to drive and dish or MCW to drive and dish. But as of the moment the defenders are sagging of them. I know I would get a lot of negatives here, But I think Kidd should look at his bench and think about Vasquez starting, He’s the only PG right now in his bench whose outside shooting is dependable. He’s a veteran. I know there’s bayless and ennis, But ennis isn’t ready yet, Bayless is way too selfish and be looking for his shots instead of feeding his team mates, Vasquez is a pass first point guard. I think MCW and Bayless can co exist in the 2nd unit. They should unload Mayo for a good PG with shooting.
That’s my only opinion.

machu46ParticipantIt’s the rebounding. The difference between them and the 2nd worst defensive rebounding team in the league is equal to the difference between #29 and #10. They’re by far the worst rebounding team that the NBA has seen in at least 5 years; probably much longer than that. Add in the fact that their defense has been garbage and you have a team that can’t even attempt to run a fast break; they’re taking the ball out of the net basically the whole game.
The offense has been average or slightly above average this year. Despite MCW and Jabari being non-shooters, they’ve hit enough 3’s to be an effective offensive team and they’re 4th in the league in 3PT% (but they simply don’t shoot enough of them).
Their issues are pretty much solely the rebounding and defense. The defense will likely improve as they all gel together; their system requires everyone to rotate together and the new guys are still a half second behind on these rotations. The rebounding is a serious concern though; Monroe is one of the better rebounders in the NBA, and MCW is one of the better rebounders at his position, but nobody boxes out. It’s to the point that the offensive players are able to get into position to box Milwaukee out.
MCW has been fine for the most part at the PG position, and the offense itself has been fine. But an average offense with horrific defense and all-time bad rebounding is a losing formula.
It’s also worth pointing out that they’ve been playing without their core players a ton already this year.
