OldSkoolBasketballParticipantBoozer for Rip Hamilton trade. If I was Utah I would do it so I can resign Millsap and have him start instead. Backcourt Deron Williams and Rip would be pretty good.

j1232eParticipantUtah would gain a terrific shotter, but lose their only low post scorer.

d-grizzlyParticipantdoes that mean boozer would start center? or would charlie v go to the bench like i think would happen
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 3:06pm #177373
j1232eParticipant6-8 center. not likely. charlie v. reserve. or move tayshan and play the V at sf.
Brewer is more of a reserve sg. but one of the top defenders. Korver is also a 2g.0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 3:14pm #177381
Stanford hoopsParticipantthey wont do it because they sign charlie..cant afford boozer after the one year which means they would lose hamplton for a player then can only have for one year

doubledribblerParticipantUtah should do it. Hamilton is a very capable scorer and would fit in well with what they do. Then you are bringing Brewer off the bench to play against 2nd team players. Besides, I really don’t think that Utah was wanting to bring Boozer back. Milsap may not be the scorer that Boozer is, but he plays much harder and he should be cheaper to keep. Also the move should allow Kirelenko to play some more minutes at the 4 which is really his best position.
As for the Pistons, they should do it too. Gordon didn’t want to come off the bench in Chicago, so I really doubt he signed in Detroit to come off the bench unless the are going with a 3 guard lineup. That is realistic since even though Gordon is small, he is guarding point guards, Stuckey is 6’5″ and Rip is 6’7″ though that would move Prince to the 4 which won’t work against the bigger teams. Hopefully this doesn’t turn into Allen Iverson part II. The only dumb thing is that if they don’t get someone bigger, they are going to be a really small team up front. I agree with whoever that if the trade goes down that Boozer starts and Charlie V goes to the Bench.
By the way Josh, just last year the Pistons dumped Chauncey’s salary, right after giving him an extension for a player that they were only going to keep for one year. So why wouldn’t they do it again?

Stanford hoopsParticipantactually im not sure they can afford boozer even this year after looking at the number unless they wanna go into lux tax which they already stated that they dont..and they did it last season also to get stucky more time because they thought he was ready to make a major step
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 3:32pm #177401
Stanford hoopsParticipantaloso they didnt cign charlie to come off the bench which is probably why they arent going after boozer or milsap anymore

llperezthis trade would definitely work for Utah. As far as Detroit goes, they might do it just because Boozer comes off the books at the end of the year and Hamilton still has a few years left on his deal. I’m not sure there is much need for either Boozer or Hamilton in Detroit now that they signed Gordon/Villanueva, but with this trade they clear up some space on the roster a little sooner.

Stanford hoopsParticipanton this one..because im staying in utah and listen to the radio show and all they talk about is jazz….the jazz also would go over the lux tax if they got hamlton because they still are trying to resing okur and millsap..so thats my points
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 3:43pm #177411

gatorheelsParticipanti think he was asking about your -220 points…somebody must hate you and give you negative points everytime u make a comment

j1232eParticipantalready opted in, utah will match millsap. 1320 kfan with david locke i would presume you listen to.

llperezHamilton would hurt their money situation as well, but he’s gonna make about the same as Boozer next season I believe. Plus I think Hamilton is exactly the type of player they need if they are gonna stay relevent in an ever improving western confrence. They might have to suck it up and pay the tax for a few years while Korver and AK47’s contracts expire over the next couple season’s. Resigning Millsap and adding Hamilton and I think the Jazz might be a contender this next year instead of just a good team. Boozer is a lame duck player who is only there because the money was’nt out there. I doubt the Jazz fans even want him there. Of course paying the luxury tax is easy for me to say since it’s not my money.

Stanford hoopsParticipantboozers contract ends after this year…the jazz are already near the cap..so imagin how much they would be sucking it up after resigning milllsap??
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 3:51pm #177421

gatorheelsParticipantyeah the points definitely dont matter
haha boozer is a lame duck
i cant blame utah fans for wanting boozer and ak gone soon. i dont think rip hamilton is the answer though. i also think milsap is overrated right now.0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 3:53pm #177424
j1232eParticipantThe reason all the fans in utah wants him gone is because he shows no loyalty. Cleveland know all about this one. Boozer always hurt as well as AK. These two will always be rumored in trade talks. Yesterday the big talk was AK and the other injury prone Matt Harpring for the biggest injury prone star in Tracy Mcgrady.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 3:54pm #177425

gatorheelsParticipantthat would be a great trade for Utah I think….McGrady can help out bigtime
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 3:55pm #177427
Stanford hoopsParticipantmillsap is pretty good but hes not boozer…alot of fans out here dont really dont realize that though…but millsap does work hard all the time and doesnt get hurt as much so the jazz fans appriciate him more….ak on the other hand cries and whines and thinks hes a star player beause he has star money….people would like him more if he just accepted his role and in the off season , dont bad mouth the team or say you should get the ball alot more
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 3:56pm #177429
j1232eParticipantOr cry in the playoffs because he fills like a robot in utah offense.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 3:56pm #177430
Stanford hoopsParticipantwow matt harpring…they love him here..but i doubt if houston would take ak’s contract…if utah can trick them into taking it they should do it
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 3:57pm #177431
Stanford hoopsParticipantlol…yeah…man the sports stations give him hell
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 3:58pm #177433
j1232eParticipantHas stated he might retire in august if his ankle does not improve.

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantthat the pistons were interested??..because dumars said hes done as far as starting pf and centers go….and it makes no sense unless the jazz dont plan on resigning millsap cuz they can afford hi snew contract and hamaltons since boozer and okur opted in
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 5:36pm #177500
J-CHRISTOSParticipantI think that this would be a great trade for Utah, only if they sign Milsap
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 6:02pm #177521

llperezif you are refering to Utah resigning Boozer, then I think you are mistaken. They would like to get rid of him now so they can pay Milsap. This will be Boozers last season in Utah in all likelyhood.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/06/2009 - 6:04pm #177523
j1232eParticipantif he makes it through this season without being traded. Boozer is a way better scorer than millsap but millsaps Defense is way better, hustle.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/07/2009 - 2:06am #177593

rvirsalParticipantwell, if this happened, it won’t free up cap space to re-sign millsap. well, they can resign him but that would mean they’d have a really really high payroll for the upcoming season. add to that the fact that hamilton is signed long-term (that’s a contract that would be hard to trade when rip starts to decline). also, this would mean that korver won’t be back (if he wont take the min or bi-annual exception). this would also be a means for utah to justify signing millsap to a 10mil per season deal (10mil for a bench player is too much so if boozer is gone, millsap starts). utah could get crippled financially next season if they did this. they’d proly have the highest payroll in the league (all starters have 8-digit salaries). probably won’t have enough money to re-sign okur (but koufos is there anyway so he may soften his loss). but if rip was expiring like booze, i’d do this now.
