Chilbert arenasParticipantI know it was one game but I’ve been high on Murray for a while now. I think he’s going to be at UK what everyone expected the Harrison twins to be. I’m not usually a fan of tweener guards but for some reason his mature game and moxy override my trepidation. What do you guys forsee him as at the next level? A big PG? An undersized SG? Or a 6th man type?

SkipMurray is the best guard in the draft.
On the eye test alone, Jamal Murray doesnt look undersized for a SG. Hes too good a scorer to make it worthwhile developing him as a PG. Im guessing once his NBA combine measurements with shoes come through he’ll be closer to the 6’5-6’6" range.
And given how easy he glides to the hoop for dunks, I don’t see any red flags re: length and athleticism.
I’d be shocked if he didnt wind up on the Sixers, even if they get Simmons with the 1st pick.
They can wheel and deal to move up/down…and they really need him as I’m not sure this class is guard-heavy.

bumbleb33ParticipantHow can someone be "too good of a scorer to make it worthwhile developing as a PG"?
Having the ability to pass is always an advantage. If he can play PG he will have a mismatch against most PGs cs of his size whereas at the 2 guard he will be average/undersized.
Not to mention almost all PGs in the NBA today are score first. Curry leading the league in ppg. Westbrook won scoring title last year. Harden as a SG handles the ball and is a facilitator

SlickBouncePassParticipantthats why being able to draft both him and Simmons will be perfect.
Simmons will be the ball handler while Murray can score off the ball, or control the ball.
If you watch the Hoop Summit and watch them play together, the two gusy because of their IQs naturally fit with each other. Each handles the ball just enough, makes the right pass at the right time.
If Philly gets that Simmons and Murray in the draft (i doubt the Laker pick transfers this year), I coudln’t be happier.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantThe most common comparison I see for him is Brandon Roy- and I think its a very apt one. He’s got the versatility to play off the ball or run the show whenever needed.

SubZeroParticipant^I was about to say the same thing, which is super exciting cause Brandon Roy is one of my favorite players ever. He’s got the handling and passing ability to run the point, but the shooting and IQ to play off the ball. He’s one of those players that could put on any team and find a role for him. Top 4 pick for sure, barring injury

NBAjunkie81Participantstud….. I Think NBA GM’s see Murray as a PG running a team…. This 2016 Draft is shaping up as a good one at the top…..

MopgrassParticipantHe’d end up with a bigger upper body than the PG’s in the NBA. I think he’s a SG by body type (not talent). He could add to that already big upper body frame and push around other SG’s or keep it slim to be a PG.
He’s at the top for me, but I also like Caris Levert (why is that guy controversial?).

Chilbert arenasParticipantBrandon Roy was a solid 6’6, many listings have Murray at 6’4, also I don’t think people remember how sneaky athletic Roy was, he had a 40 inch max vert. And finally don’t forget Roy spent 4 years in college and entered the league with a mature game. I see the similarities but let’s not get ahead of ourselves, Roy was the 3rd best 2 guard after prime kobe and prime wade, and would still be if it werent for devestating injury.

whiteflashParticipantPlays like Brandon Roy had a baby with Damian Lillard. No idea if he pans out, but he seems to have what it takes on and off the court and he’s been kicking basketball a$$ across the globe for a couple of years now. I imagine scouts are really high on him.

whiteflashParticipantAre you serious? It was a joke. You should probably work on your insecurities and homophobia. Anyone who gets that worked up over something like that is clearly hiding something…. and LOL at "real men."

HeroescantdieParticipantI hope at the combine he measured a legit 6’6 with shoes. I mean, who doesn’t miss BRoy? I’m not syaing Murray will be Brandon Roy but I think of all the prospects I’ve seen since he retire. Murray’s one of the closest that reminds me of ROY
