Just watched Portland chew up Memphis… I’m really enjoying this young team’s energy & enthusiasm & watching them is a pleasure… Lillard & McCollum look great in the back court – Harkless & Crabbe are nice off the bench & they have a rotation of skilled "Big’s" who chip in points & play tough defense…

I really like how they rebounded from losing all of their starters except Lillard.  They brought in young players like Aminu, Harkless, Plumlee,  and Vonleh.  Then players like McCollum, Crabbe, and Leonard have shown improvement with their increased roles on the team.

Through six games they’ve exceeded expectations by going 4-2.

going to lose Aldridge & they put a nice young team together that can grow w/ Lillard as the leader… Lillard & McCollum went 11 /17 from 3 point range tonight… I’m not used to seeing a team just step on the gas pedal & blow Memphis off the court late in the 3rd qtr…

Memphis’ Defense can’t handle being spread by the shooting they have come across so far this season. The Blazers have great length on defensive ( outside of Lillard and McCollum) and a lot of energy.

Portland has the feel of that Phoenix team that was counted out two years back which surprised many and just missed the playoffs.

Aminu is bringing a fire that Nicolas never showed. He is a excelent rebounder at the 3 and his shooting is imporving.

I actually think NBAJunkie is the best analyst here.

The rest of you amatuers need to get your act together.

I used to refuse to read your posts because your paragraph structure was giving me migrains. But now that you’ve sorted out that weakness in your game, you’re the new MVP.

Terry Stotts keeps these guys in the playoffs, he should be in consideration for COTY after losing Matthews and Aldridge

And Batum and Brook Lopez. People were predicting Portland to be among the worst of the West. It’d be pretty incredible if Terry Stotts got them to return to the playoffs.

They lost a shitload this offseason but made some nice under the radar moves. There is actually a decent amount of talent on this team. My prediction before the season was about 28-32 wins but I also said they have the potential to be this year’s version of the 2013-14 Suns, a team that everyone wrote off but surprised everyone and came close to making the playoffs. Stotts is an excellent coach. Lillard and McCollum are going to have to stay healthy and continue to put up big numbers for that to happen and guys like Leonard and aminu are really going to have to take their games to the next level.

The moves they made were great, but  Terry Stotts really deserves a lot of the credit here.  With so many new pieces, to keep the offense moving this smoothly, especially this soon is a testament to his offense and coaching.

They were my sleeper team coming into the year.  Looks like they can get that 7th or 8th seed or higher.

They have a good mix of talent.  I think they are "for real" although right now they are leading the Northwest Division and I don’t see them ending up better than OKC.

Another thing: after watching the Grizzlies this season (at the Nets game, the first half of the Pacers game on TV, then laughing while watching the Warriors game on TV), reading the comments, and looking at the NBA Standings, the West is OLD.

    We have seen PEAK WEST.

Other than the Warriors, the Thunder, and some teams either on the rise, or still trying to rebuild, the West is OLD.  The Spurs, Rockets, Mavs no longer scare me.  The Pelicans are a beat up mess.  Even the Thunder have dropped 3 straight, and Russ and Durant already have a good amount of mileage on them, not to mention major injuries here and there.

So, the Blazers are in the mix.  They can actually run and shoot.  A team like Memphis can’t really do either.

The scary part is that the Warriors are a bit better this year, while the entirety of the West is a bit worse.  The Warriors are essentially YOUNGER this year, replacing Andrew Bogut in the starting lineup with Festus Ezeli.  Then they traded David Lee this past summer with James Michael McAdoo taking a bunch of Lee’s minutes.
