Who are some of the biggest ballhogs in the league.

    1) Kobe – Thing is Kobe seems like a pretty cerebral guy. But surely he can see a downward trend in his fg%. Any chance of a pass Kobe?

    2) Carmello – The ball-stopper. Never made a quick pass around the perimeter. Never passed it into the post. At best might rack up a few assists to open men after hes triple teamed. Not actually a player who helps teams win anymore.

    3) Enes Kanter – This guy simply refuses to pass or play defense. Most people havent watched much of him…but compare the Jazz both before and after his exits. Theres was a drinking game in Utah…every time Enes passed it the Mormans drank a mug of warm postum.

Who else belongs on this list?

I heard a lot of pro players are using new synthetic drugs to bypass testing since they dont show up.

Could be a case of the bath salts with Mr Green based on what youve told me.

    Brandon Bass?

Though, he was improving in his last year with Boston.

Isaiah Thomas is looking like quite the ball hog for the less than impressive 1-3 Celtics thus far.  Is it panic time in bean town yet?

Shooting almost 18 times per game at a sub 40% clip and 20% on 5 3 pointers a game.  At just about 28 minutes.  Those are Kobe Bryant at age 37 type numbers folks.

on the team can shoot.  Thomas is one of the few positives in Boston.

Kobe is a detriment to his team.  Thats why numbers don’t tell the whole story, pal.

Also Thomas is doing it by attacking the rim and shooting the long ball.  Kobe is just a jumpshooter.  Missing a jumpshot is like a stopgap.  No flow in the offense.

I really don’t understand why people still have this stigma that Kobe doesn’t pass, sure when he was in his prime he was a "ball hog" but since he’s been in his 30’s he’s averaged a decent amount of assists. Just the other night his fast break pass to Russell was really sweet.

Oh and he’s also 4th place among active players in assists:

he only passes to players he thinks are "worth it".  Like D’Angelo is his new puppy dog and he’s nice to him, will pass to him, etc.

What kind of leader is only nice to select players on his squad.  Well, now that he’s getting old, people are growing tired of his shtick.

You want to win, you don’t just hand the mantle to D’Angelo, you encourage everyone to get better on your team.

Bryant’s a career 5 assist a game guy, and had several years in the 6+ range. This is also while scoring as much as he did while sharing the ball with multiple people and playing in a non-traditional system (the triangle) for the majority of his career. If he would’ve played in a system predicated around iso’s and pick-n-rolls his numbers would be even more mind blowing than they already are.

Is subjective.  That Knicks team last year needed Melo to be a ball hog.   Where were the shots gonna come from?  Melo and JR Smith that’s it.   LeBron (one of the most unselfish Superstars) had to ball hog in the Finals when it was just him and JR Smith able to get their own shots.   Look how poorly he shot….

But the biggest ballhog of all time is Kevin Martin….   He doesn’t pass the ball if his life counted on it…   Look at the most assists he average for someone that plays the 2G position and started majority of his career.   I’ve read plenty articles on him (I knew he was bad, but didn’t know he was THAT bad) and he legit a black hole…

NO ONE is a bigger ballhog than James Harden. He dribbles the air outta the ball before taking a contested step back 22 footer whe his team stands around and watches. I’ve never seen anything like it. If it weren’t for his LeBron like ability to get bull$hit calls he’d average 12 a game on 20+ shots.

    redefine ball-hog.

A ball-hog is someone who the offense doesn’t rely upon to score but still puts up unwarranted shots.

Harden needs to score for his team, Lebron needs to score too because teammates look to them to take over a game.

Kobe is the definition of who that was, but time has passed him by.  Now the offense is better if he passes, so he truly is a ball-hog.  Carmelo as well., he doesn’t make any of his teammates better the way he plays, which is an offensive vacuum.

You can’t put Harden and Lebron in the same sentence as Kobe and Carmelo…subtle difference.

Needing to score and taking 20.5 fg’s and 11 (ELEVEN!!!) 3’s a game are two completely different things. The Rickets offense looks like absolute sh!t wgen Harden dominates the ball. Yeah, he averaged 5+ assists last year, but they were completely out of the flow of the game. It’s the definition of "assist hunting", and was usually a bailout pass when he’d already danced in place with the ball for 20 seconds. He’s everything wrong with today’s NBA, and, again, if he didn’t get nonstop bullsh!t calls going his way he’d be a 12ppg scorer on 20+ shots.
