Johnson did not sign with the Thunder.  What is his status now?  Has he gotten a look from anyone else?  Or is he headed to the D League.  Shame this kid got impatient.

Daniel Orton v2. Big stiff body, bit more skilled than Orton but still a long long ways from being an NBA contributor. Needs a few years seasoning in the Dleague or overseas, definitely should have stayed at Kentucky or just transferred if he wanted minutes

He’s going to play for their D League affliliate.  I think his biggest problem is his lack of athleticism but if Kendrick Perkins and Kwame Brown can last in this league for over a decade, heck why can’t he.  Just needs to get stronger and become a great defensive rebounder.

That’s disrespect to Kwame and Kendrick. Both you might as well make a list of 1000 other Centers that had careers in the NBA without averaging 12-ppg and 10-rpg.

he is a Massive human being even by NBA "Big Man" measurements… I was hoping he could hang on w/ a rebuilding team where he could develop & at least get an NBA contract – I don’t think he has the agility to be contributor in scoring but his sheer size makes him useful on a team…… I don’t understand why he came out  – I didn’t see any reports that had him going in the first round… I wish these kids had a better grasp on how valuable that college degree is & what an advantage it is in life to have that degree w/ no student loan $$$ owed…

If he signs one overseas contract for $100,000 a year for 2 years he can pay for a degree with no debt. If that opportunity is there to do something you love, you take it. You improve faster when you only focus on basketball and you don’t have to focus on school. He can get paid and has a better chance of succeeding in the NBA by coming out. Just because you stay 4 years doesn’t mean you will get drafted higher or be in a better spot to succeed. Only 4 seniors went in the first round last year and the only one who went higher than 19th was the best player in college basketball. He made the right decision

In hindsight, it is clear that he could have used another year or two to develop under Calipari. But I don’t blame him for leaving Kentucky. It was going to be under year of him not starting in a world where age is a major factor for scouts.

He’s a big guy who has shown the ability to roll on the block. If he can find a team I think he can continue to develop.
