EspressoParticipantEver since MODS had that thread asking for feedback on the website, where they stated the search-bar got worked on for improvements, all I am able to find is useless MikeyV’s old articles.
Why?

CynthiaParticipantI’ve been here a few years now, and every year they ask for website feedback and people give tons of great ideas. But the site never changes, it’s identical to what it was 5 years ago. So basically, don’t get your hopes up.

mikeyvthedonParticipantI mean, “@sshole”, “prick” or “schmuck” would have all sufficed, but you really went for the jugular!
At the same time, if anyone can feel your pain about the lack of functionality of the current “Search” function, it is me. I am guessing if I did not use the “Search” more than anyone else on this site, I was top 3-5. Used it to look up old posts, articles and of course, possible NBA Draft prospect. Now, I pretty much have to go to Google and type in “NBADraft.net” after whatever I am looking for, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a “Search” on the site.
Now, for however “useless” I may be, am guessing that you are probably complaining not about actual articles I have written, but about the articles written by others (who I credit) and post in the “Related Content”. This is done not just a tool for me to use, but one that is available to everybody. There was a time where I thought only a handful of people besides myself used the “Related Content”, which was discouraging, until I had an actual NBA scout tell me this summer they constantly check it out and use it for their own databases. Was very happy to hear that and was much more of a validation than being called “useless”, but I digress.
So, here is what I try to do for this site:
• Study basketball and basketball prospects like it is my religion. Because let’s face it, I have a huge passion for basketball.
• Update player profiles and create new player profiles. I try to keep our database strong and give current information, with occasional new videos and a lot of “Related Content”. One of my hobbies since I was a kid was studying basketball history and learning as much as possible about other players. Also really love writing, as it is plain to see. Still, seeing that I cannot be everywhere, I realize there are professional writers and local beats that have incredibly viable information when it comes to this. Also realize that many come here to kill boredom and find information, so if you can do both here by having some ability to get articles and information on NBA Draft prospects, that would be a win in my book. I want people that visit this site to get a bevy of educational information they can soak in, which is why I find the “Related Content” section to be a nice tool to utilize on that front.
• Update the “News” that you see on the side of the site. This again is something that you can probably find under “Related Content” and gives takes on current events in the world of basketball prospects, injuries and other (possibly) useful (or maybe even fun) tidbits
When you are talking about the “MODs” and assumingly throwing my hat in the ring, I am indeed a forum moderator. However, the “Site Feedback” post was from the tech team. As far as being a tech person for this site, there I actually am useless. I do not code, nor am I in charge of how the site looks aesthetically other than posting headshots on player profiles (which has not been easy on some as of late).
Here is what I do as a “MOD”:
• Delete SPAM. A lot of SPAM. May not always be the person deleting it, but lately, it has tended to be me. Am not around all of the time, so sometimes it lingers, just know I do not like SPAM on this site and really, really dislike it on the main board.
• Delete double/multiple posts. When I see them, I will probably help you have one copy of your idea visible.
• Delete offensive or intentionally trolling posts. What many may not know is, I have pretty damn thick skin. So, this rarely happens and I cannot remember the last time this happened, especially if the post in any way has something to do with basketball.
Here is what I do not/cannot do:
• Ban posters. If I could, I would ban SPAM-bots. As much as I may not be crazy about certain Trolls, I am an advocate of freedom of speech. I am not a fan of bringing political agendas or name calling into the equation, but I have never banned a poster. If you have something to say about basketball, I am fine with it, even if I disagree.
• Anything technical. So, nope, did not put all of my articles or related content intentionally at the front of the Search bar. Wouldn’t want to, do not know how to.
When I am talking about “shooting the messenger”, I was asked by Aran to send the tech team a list of site issues. I have put off doing so, probably driven by a close to Cynthia level cynicism. I do believe the tech team has great intentions in things they do for the site, such as trying to clean up the Search function. It just seems time and again; they will start on one of these projects and never tie up the loose ends. Believe me, not being able to access any new profile I have created since July through site Search is not even close to ideal.
I actually loved the concept of the “Feedback” post, either feeling similarly on a majority of site issues or really liking many suggestions. It is disheartening that the issues have lingered, however I do know that the person in charge of site tech support dealt with a personal tragedy that I for one feel terribly about. I have never had any contact with the tech team and do not know them, but was incredibly saddened when I heard the news, send my condolences and think they are absolutely entitled to a period of grieving. One thing I do wish is that maybe there was a greater level of communication for when the site is dealing with issues, technical or otherwise, to at least give loyal visitors a heads up.
However, what this post has convinced me to do is finally write this list to the technical team, so thank you for the motivation. I have been a loyal user of this site since the beginning; only want good things for NBADraft.net and its users. Whether my messages were in the form of my articles, Related Content articles or it was the message that I was yet to write to the tech team, calling anyone “useless” due to an issue you are having is not the way to handle anything, but I guess you got your point across.
To end things, here are a couple things I had wanted to say to the original poster:
• Kerwin Roach is a fantastic athlete, but I think your math was WAY off on his vertical. Not you believing 4’7” is 56 inches as opposed to 55 inches, either (48+7 seems like pretty basic math). What we see in the video is Roach getting to the top of an unadjusted Vertec, which goes up to 12-feet (which is why when they say someone clears the machines 12-feet, they need to raise it manually). Perspective makes it look like he is clearing or touching the top of the backboard, which is I guess where you came up with 13-feet. From what I heard, Roach measured with a 44 inch vertical, meaning you subtract the 12-feet from his reported 8’4” standing reach. Seeing that 44 inches is already near the highest vertical that would ever be measured in a NBA combine setting, it seems pretty doubtful that he would clear that mark by a foot. So, as amazing of an athlete as Kerwin Roach is, it does not appear that he is Earl Manigault snatching change off of the top of the backboard. He is phenomenal, not a demigod. This is very similar to you believing that Michael Porter’s “7’9 wingspan” was not a typo. If something is too good to be true, it sometimes is. Seems to be the case with both of those.
• Am not nearly as high on Allonzo Trier as you seem to be. This in no way means he could not be drafted where you slotted him, it just means that I would be incredibly surprised if that were the case. Allonzo can score and even create his shot well, true. The issue I have with him is he tends to pound the air out of the basketball and as Kirk Goldsberry, a person much smarter than I am, points out; shots created with assists tend to be much more efficient than shots created without them. On top of this, Allonzo is terribly one dimensional in my mind. You can only hope your SG is a good rebounder, it is a perk more than a requirement and Trier does not come with that one. The troubling thing with him is as a passer. Seeing Trier in a couple of different events live and even when he was playing with the U19 team this past summer, he is just not very adept at reading angles and getting others involved. He is a good and not great athlete, with average size who is kind of a one trick pony. To me, that does not scream one-and-done or lottery pick. May be in the minority thinking that way, but am guessing that maybe some of these factors are why he is lower on most boards than where you have him. Obviously the future will tell what happens and I hope my two cents prove to have been of no use.
So, hope this gives some clarification and like all of you, I am really hoping that these issues are addressed. I work for this site as a labor of love, I have other gainful employment. Believe me, the site issues hurt me as much as they hurt you, but thanks for taking your frustration out on me anyway!

T RexHere’s a google search tip I use all the time to bump my prophetic predictions:
search like this… site:nbadraft.net arambone bogdan bogdanovic
the (site:nbadraft.net) part is important, and will eliminate all other web sites from your search. Then just add your search terms after.
Don’t thank me, +1 me bro.

mikeyvthedonParticipantAll in the same post! How about that for the old Shyamalan twist!?
Thank you for bestowing me the title of Ron Swanson, I May Be Whateverthelatesttrendondraftnetorbasketball (you should feel honored by this, used to only use this shtick on McDunk). I remember you loved “Parks and Rec”, did not watch it, but know that Mr. Swanson is thought of very fondly. I do think Nick Offerman is hilarious, really liked his brief appearance in the opening ep of “Fargo” Season 2, hoping he has a nice role in that. Also, I recently saw the movie “Kings of Summer”, where he was really awesome. Did anyone else see that one? I thought Offerman was great in it, even if that kid who plays Biaggio is the funniest person in the film. Solid little flick. Anyway, thank you for the comments and hope you are well.
Espresso, thank you for your kind words and I accept your apology. Had wanted to comment on your previous posts and had remembered them, so those were true responses and my actual thoughts. I think you have become much better as a poster and appreciate you putting more content into your posts. If you have questions about something site related, you like anyone else can hit me an e-mail: [email protected]
Will write the list for the tech people tonight, am hoping we get things rolling soon. I absolutely want some issues on the site fixed (with Search stuff being at the top of the list) and am very much trying to get into preparation for the season to start. Writing my response was sort of therapeutic, and I actually kind of enjoyed it ☺. Do miss posting on here a bit and hopefully will do so more in the next little while. Shout to the Late Night Crew, hoping the best for the NBADraft.net community has yet to come and we will be doing some good things for this upcoming Draft.

OhCanada-ParticipantThe fact remains that the updates are garbage. Every year you ask what could improve the site we tell you and nothing is done. Now I know there will be no response to this question yet I’ll ask anyways.
Why ask what can improve the site if you don’t intend on making any improvements? I’m really curious to understand the thought process behind this.

mikeyvthedonParticipantBonner, I know I wrote a lot, but maybe should underline: NOT ON THE TECH TEAM. Also, am guessing that they would eventually like to do so, but their were various things preventing them from doing so. Would love to see the updates to the site happen as well and for the Search to be precise and functional. I don’t want to throw out "the road to hell is paved with good intentions", because that is a tad extreme in this case, but I think they want to do good things. Now, if you want to talk about content or non-tech things, gave my e-mail. Am sorry to say, not much I can do to address the IT side of things and I am guessing they want to fix it, but if you read what I wrote before, think that was about as viable an answer I could provide.
