Leonard WashingtonParticipantJust saw D-Rose on ESPN breaking news with a left orbital fracture from a elbow to the face in practice this morning. Can this guy ever catch a break. He may be one of the most unlucky superstars of all-time.

llperezdont care for his recent comments about looking forward towards free agency so he can get paid implying he will go to whoever pays the most. Hes going to make 41 million over these last 2 years of his deal and hes constantly hurt. Just keep that talk to yourself, its only gonna upset your fans.

BleedGreen808ParticipantI agree I didn’t really understand those comments yesterday. He needs to stay healthy before he expects to be getting paid on his next contract. It can be a personal goal of his but there’s no need to make it public like that. It makes it sound like he’s looking to get paid more so than winning games or a championship.

T RexHe’s probably still bitter that Jimmy Butler is better than him. Maybe even more famous, lol.
This petty stuff happens all the time, and Rose is just the type of prickly (former) superstar to let it make him miserable.
You would think that all the injuries would really make Rose appreciate how good his life is, like PG13 recently discovered after his own injury.
But nope, Rose probably doesn’t even think he’s been overpaid with his current contract.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantYea. Some athletes are really good at dealing with the media. Unfortunately, rose just isn’t. He usually just says whatever comes to his mind without thinking of how its going to be portrayed. I don’t blame him for looking forward to his next contract. There’s only a limited amount of time to make money off his athletic ability, especially with his injury history. Still, that’s not something you should say to the media.

GStatesince88ParticipantDerrick will have made well over 100 million dollars through NBA and advertising contracts before hitting the age of 30. For him to be so brash, to have that be his top priority over a full season away, and bring it up on one of the first media days, truly says a lot about his character.
Aside from the obvious fact that his family future is his priority, his career priority should be staying healthy and becoming a more facilitative poing guard. He should accept that fact that his MVP days are likely over because he has teammates that can help shoulder the load and need the rock (Jimmy, Pau). Kid needs to wake up and see that team achievements trump personal accolades, and that utilizing the talent around him better will help him have a longer and healthier career.
With his current immature attitude, I feel like he would eventually get himself chased out of Chicago. Both Pau and Jimmy are better leaders, and I would honestly prefer Jimmy to be the face/future of the franchise.

omphalosParticipantMan people have really turned on Rose.
I still love him, and I think he should absolutely be trying to earn as much as he can on his next contract – look at Curry, he gave them a discount because of his injury history and he’s ludicrously underpaid.
The Bulls were nothing before him since MJ retired, so I have no problem with him wanting to get paid, unfotunate injuries or not.
I don’t see this being a huge setback, he’s still set for a huge season in my opinion.

BEARDED-DRAGONParticipantseriously, the hate is pretty ludacrous. calling him an a-hole and they’re practically glad he got hurt. why? what has he done to them? i mean, possibly you can decide to hate someone if you believe them guilty of rape, even though you’ve seen no evidence… and should he have said anything about getting paid, no. he should focus on playing as well as he can and helping his team win as much as possible, so that on his next contract he will earn the most money possible. thats how it should work.he should get paid, and he can look forward to that money, but its respectable to keep your feelings to yourself when money is concerned. but he still seems like one of the nicest guys in the league. hes not cheating you out of that money. an appropriate response to hearing about his injury is something like: "derrick rose’s body is the nba equivalent to taylor swifts heart". not, "that a-hole deserves it". hope he’s back by season opener, even if he has to wear a mask. hopefully he wears a black one since you guys have already labelled him the villian.

wonzi_bellsParticipantDerrick Rose to me is this special case of how his relationship with fans is seen.
It seems like its attributed to some of the assertion placed on him for being this hometown hero that came from nothing and the fact that he did it in a major media market, how he won MVP, as well as being on the best regular season team that year and his entertaining and endearing style of play before the injury that gave him a nationwide affinity. All of that got lost and the bubble of all those assertions popped once that injury happened.
It’s the reason why would never want to be a hometown superstar athlete because a large majority of fans already have this sense of entitlement to athletes and it gets pumped up even more when they come across someone who’s "one of us." To a lesser extent, the same thing is happening to Joe Mauer in Minnesota where I’m at, with how the local media and vocal fan groups treat him.

And with that money statement about his family living comfortably like wtf hes earning 93 million with this contract is he an idiot to even say this in front of cameras? omphalosParticipantI don’t have a problem with him not being humble. He could still be one of the best players in the NBA if he was healthy and it wouldn’t make sense for him to start doubting himself.
He ran out of gas in the post-season but he showed flashes of old Derrick Rose, I don’t think it’s outrageous to think he could put together a really good campaign with a more creative coach and a clean bill of health.
We’ll see what happens with the season, but I don’t see why people have given up on him as a potential star player when he’s still plenty young.

raybeasParticipantSixty one games the last three years while getting paid $52.3 million dollars. Based off of one pretty good, not great, but pretty good year. This is a guy who couldn’t spell SAT if you gave him the first two letters (ask Memphis *vacated Final Four). This is the guy worried about his next contract? If he was 5′ 8″ (like me) or God forbid 5’11”, he’d be asking if you want fries with that. But because he’s 6’4″, he’s asking NBA teams to give him more.

Robb_CParticipantThe kid has no mind of his own, and is literally force fed ideas and his thoughts by his older brother Reggie.. He’s been coddled for years by his family so its no surprise that he’s socially underdeveloped. When Derrick Rose speaks about anything but basketball its usually Reggie Roses influence on his brother.. Derrick literally knows nothing but basketball.
He’s jaded obviously because he knows Butler has taken the reigns of the team.. Derrick Rose talking about FA is his brother putting the idea in his head..0 - Posted on: Tue, 09/29/2015 - 7:47pm #1015696

wonzi_bellsParticipantTo an extent. It’s sort of the gift and the curse about Derrick Rose’s inner circle. Given where they’re from, they’ve looked at Chicago’s past history with promising sports prospects and the misfortunate circumstances, the missed opportunities and the flames out that have come about and those big brothers of his said we aren’t taking any chances. NONE. If you want to talk to Derrick, you got to go through us. If you want to see Derrick, you got to go through us. You want an autograph? Us! All Derrick needs to do is focus on that bouncy orange round thing.
And it worked for the most part, so I wouldn’t blame him for following his brother every word.
And by the way, this is all spectulation and just added two cents from all the hearsay.
The weird thing I took away from that media day press conference was that free agency comment was stemmed from talking about his civil lawsuit off the sexual assault allegation. It was just weird how he popped it up.

Robb_CParticipantThis injury was a freak accident, it wasn’t like he reinjured his knees.. Just had taken a bow to the eye from Taj Gibson..
I do feel bad for the kid.. Lost his team last year after coming back, caught a rape case from a hoodrat… And now walking around with a broken black eye.. What pisses me off is how out of touch he is with reality cause his inner circle coddles him to the point were he’s lost perspective of his current situation.. The Bulls and Rose should cut ties and I think they will once Rose is a FA..0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/30/2015 - 4:37am #1015743

T RexI don’t know man. For people like Bill Cosby, the thrill was in the (white) chick being unconscious.
As far as "it ain’t no fun if my homies can’t have none", it probably ain’t no fun when the ho’ decides four d!cks is enough.
Also, given that Dr. Dre was the producer of that album, like many other albums that promoted de-humanization of females and general misogyny, it’s worth noting that Dre is a bi-sexual at best, and a "bottom" gay most likely.
So having a lot of d1cks in the room was the whole point for guys like Dre, and perhaps Rose as well.
Check out Dr Dre videos from before NWA. Dude was probably jealous of women for stealing all the hot guys away from his man hole.
How do you think Dre, Will Smith, and Michael Strahan became so embraced by the velvet mafia that runs Hollywood?

T RexI don’t know man. For people like Bill Cosby, the thrill was in the (white) chick being unconscious.

T RexIt’s not theory. And the fashion world is the same. Guys like Calvin Klein and most all of the rest of them are raging misogynists, and are basically waging war on the self-esteem of females. Klein invented the "heroin chic" style of half-dead anorexic girls as the sole standard of beauty.
Take the saggy pants look introduced in gangsta-rap, cranked out by the "white" guys who own the mobbed up record labels. That "fashion" was started by gay dudes in prison showing off their goods. Now two generations of urban (and suburban) black (and white) kids have been walking around with their butts out, like the most popular girl in prison.
Even Suge Knight said that 95% of these rappers are gay. Who else but a closet case would preach hatred of black women, and promote black on black genocide, so they can git rich and move into lilly white Hollywood neighborhoods.

XYRYXParticipantI could see an Amare style broken hand with a lot of stitches to an ugly wound for hitting a fire extinguisher out of frustration too…
What a mess this guy has been the last couple of years is sad, ugly and disappointing to me.

Lotto StudParticipantCut him some slack. In the playoffs he showed us his willingness to get close to a shell of his former self.

NBAjunkie81ParticipantMy first thought when I saw the injury was that the Bulls & Rose have got to be past the point relationship fatigue – we’ve all been there: too tired to fight, let’s just go our seperate ways…. My next thought was, wow could the team I root for acquire Rose? Which was quickly followed by a third thought: would I want this guy on the team I root for??? It’s a very unique situation in that historically MVP’s win championships – I could be wrong but I believe that only Karl Malone & Steve Nash did not & coincidentally they are also the only MVP’s who were drafted outside the top 10 (Kobe Bryant does not count b/c his team orchestrated his fall from the top 10 – under normal circumstances he would be top 5)… That being said, knowing that you pretty much Must have an MVP on your team to win a Ring – So What do you guys think? I’m not suggesting that it would even be possible, it’s purely hypothetical, but would you want him?
