Breakout Performers? What do you all want to see?

herceg_bukuParticipantAnthony Davis to dominate all the big men, as if he is already not, but i just think he sooo talented that he can even do more. Pelicans make playoffs.
Andrew Wiggins might have a breakout performance, after getting experience and improving his game.
I want to see Lakers rebuild, I want to see Kobe in the playoffs again, I want them to make some monumental trades and things of that nature.

ChewyParticipant1. How Kobe will handle this year’s team?
2. How the Cavs rebounding numbers turn out between LBJ/Love/TT/Moz?
3. Can D-Rose stay healthy? I’d love if his scoring numbers went down and assist numbers went up with Jimmy’s emergance as a top tier SG.
4. The Kings impload. I want reality tv type drama from this team.

Make’Em Say UGHParticipantMy bold prediction & break out performer is one in the same. I predict that Zach Lavine will explode this year. Obvisouly Wiggins will remain the focal point, but I think that Zach will creep up on us in the same way that Westbrook did in relation to Durant.
I thought he did very well being thrusted into the starting lineup (out of position btw) averaging double digits. This being after a lone year in college on the bench.
He really started to heat up towards the end of his rookie campaign – while looking very confident. Posting these numbers in his last 6 games: 21, 18, 18, 37, 19, 24 (37 being a MIN rookie scoring record)
Future looks bright for the kid, I think surprisingly he could be one of the premier two guards in the next few seasons.

Memphis MadnessParticipantIn terms of production, LeBron, Anthony Davis, Chris Paul, Steph Curry, Westbrook, James Harden, and Blake Griffin put up stats similar to last season’s.
Davis "BROKE OUT" last year, but he only had an uptick in points with the rest of his stats similar to the previous season. I think he went for 24 and 10 last year. So, he might get to 25 and 11 this season.
I think DeAndre Jordan’s stats dip slightly since he did most of his damage when The Blake Show was out.
Look for Rudy Gobert to put up 2014-2015 DeAndre Jordan type stats.
Jazz or Kings make the playoffs. Possibly both.
Rajon Rondo will make AND break your fantasy basketball team.
Blazers will be on the outside looking in, but maybe not too far out. Lillard with some athletic bigs like Plumlee and Myers Leonard could be VERY dangerous. They will be in that toss-up 35-45 win range.
If these teams get off to a slow start or sustain a (semi) major injury they could be on the outside looking in, too: Pelicans, Mavs, Grizzlies.
Carmelo and Dirk will shoot mid-range jumpers into oblivion. Rumors swirl in Dallas and NYC about a possible Dirk for Carmelo swap. Nobody cares but the good/bad folks at Volkswagon.
Westbrook for the MVP. Guns for at least one mythical 8double: points, dunks, 3 point bricks, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, and turnovers.
Bulls win the East.
Or the Heat.
On paper the Heat are really, really good. Dragic, D Wade, Bosh, and Whiteside form a great core.
Bulls vs. Heat in the ECF.
The Cavs aren’t built right… LeBron will be running on fumes once again.
Cavs fans will show up to home games in Johnny Manziel jerseys.
Michael Jordan will start betting against the Charlotte Hornets and will receive a lifetime ban from the Baseball Hall of Fame.
If the Kings don’t move to Las Vegas during the middle of the season, then DeMarcus Cousins WILL.
Marshall Henderson (Kings training camp roster fodder) March splits: 3 points, DNP, DNP, 0 points, 5 points, DNP, DNP, 2 points, DNP, 6 points, 4 points, DNP, 5 points, DNP, DNP, 55 points, DNP.
Seth Curry (Kings training camp roster fodder) March splits: see above.
Rudy Gay will ruin a Memphis Grizzlies roadtrip for the 10th consecutive year.
The Warriors will semi-miss David Lee.
The Spurs will miss Tiaggo Splitter.
Empty stat lines will miss LaMarcus Aldridge.
The league will have one Zeller too many.
Go to a Thunder game, yell "DaJuan Wagner" and Dion Waiters will turn his head. Promise.
Jahlil Okafor makes the All Star Team. The Sixers combine 3-1 road trips with 0-6 homestands. Okafor puts up 18-20 and 8-10 boards most nights.
Kobe will be an all star again, and some nights, even look like one.

BostonCs FanParticipantCeltics win at least 50 games and Marcus Smart establishes himself as an elite defender with averages of 16, 5, 5 to go with over 2 steals per game. The Cs are arguably the deepest team in the league and definitely upgraded there roster from last year. Almost everyone on the roster can be utilized to benefit the team one way or another.

Mr. HookShotParticipantDeep yes, but they lack the star power to get to 50 wins or more. Smart is a nice player but inefficient, they have some other nice pieces (Sullinger) but none is good enough to carry the offense for stretches.

T RexFor the second half of last season, the Celtics played at a 52-54 win level, going 24-12 until the day the regular season ended. They just ran out of time.
And who was their star? It was a team effort.
Here’s a word from the wise: You don’t need star play from a star player every night. You just need star level play from SOMEBODY most nights. And even stars have off nights.
Celtics have TONS of guys who can go off like a star any given night, and they only need one or two of them to be on their "A" game most nights.
The Celtics have way more players capable of regularly putting up BIG nights than the average NBA team.
Even the two guys fighting over the last spot on the 15 man roster, James Young and PJ3, could each easily go off for 30 points at some point this season.
Evan Turner is one of the bigger triple double threats in the league, Marcus Smart is basically already a star in the Kawhi Leonard mold, Kelly Olynyk can go for 20-30 points easy if feeling it, IT4 averaged 19 ppg in Boston last year, is that not "star" enough like some of the "stars" on the above star list?
David Lee was an All Star two years ago, Sully can go off for 20/10 boards any night, and Avery Bradley gets hot in a hurry too, in addition to being a star defender. Zeller had a bunch of 20 point games last year, and he’s adding range to his NBA Elite jump shot %.
The Celtics have plenty of star power, more than most teams actually.
Don’t worry about us, we’ll be winning around 50 games.

Mr. HookShotParticipantTo be honest, I don’t see the TONS of guys who can go off. Smart is an intruiging player, but inefficient. The same holds for Turner, who might score 25 on occassion but will do so by taking 20+ shots. Bradley is not your typical shot maker, so he doesn’t get ‘hot on in a hurry’ either
Isiah Thomas can indeed go off on occasion, and perhaps Olynyk and Sullinger can score 20+ points multiple nights but that’s it. I do like coach Stevens, and he really made them play defense that second half of the season, and they also have the pieces to be a solid defensive team, especially on the wing. They lack balance in their team though, with their big men generally being weaker defenders, and their guards being prone to inefficiency.
So to conclude, they don’t have a lot of star power. Can they win games? Absolutely, but getting over 0.500 would already be a accomplishment for this team.

omphalosParticipantYeah unless David Lee regains All-Star form, KO learns how to play D without injuring people’s shoulders, Marcus Smart learns how to PG, Bradley discovers his D again, Sully cuts a lot of weight and stay healthy, IT learns to play as part of a team, James Young submits an incredible second season and Jae Crowder plays to at least the level Carroll did for the Hawks last year then I don’t see this happening.
Still have no form of rim protection, nor the offensive firepower or star to blow teams away offensively.
My kingdom for Roy Hibbert, Myles Turner, Meyers Leonard or even Javale McGee.
If only we’d taken Gobert, Giannis and Lavine when we had the chance we’d be championship bound.

RUDEBOY_Participantas a memphis fan im praying everyone will be talking about their inside/outside game this year..if they fail to add a borderline or all star type shooting guard..they’ll be in the same situation they’ve been in the past few yrs….
im eager to see can some of the nba’s big stars that battled injuries last season like kd,kobe, melo and d rose reclaim their all star level form..
im still a believer in rubio, his passing skills are on the level of kidd..but other parts of his game have failed to advance..hopefully this will be the season he puts it 2gether…never been a fan of the t wolves even when kg was there..but this team is going to be so much fun to watch…
deandre jordan’s first game in dallas..aldridge first game back in portland…

high floorParticipant1.) Bradley Beal remains healthy and plays 75 games, narrowly beats out Oladipo as an EC all-star reserve.
2.) Utah Jazz win between 47-50 games, grab the 7th seed.
3.) MCW doesn’t improve this year, and trade rumors swirl big-time approaching the deadline
4.) C.J McCollum breaks out and becomes a legit combo guard. But doesn’t win MIP due to his team’s record (less than 35 wins)
5.) Durant stays healthy & reclaims the MVP trophy. OKC beats SA and GSW in an Epic back to back playoff series, and wins the NBA championship
