    Dunks are the best. The only thing that possibly beats it is when a dunk gets blocked..but to do this you risk being on Sportscenter.

    So many players would rather get out of the way if the chances of a block are low…especially in the modern era. Guys like Ewing and Mutombo and even Shawn Bradley never did this.

    My question is…if a player from your team gets dunked on badly…do you;

    A) Respect the effort

    B) Tell him to get out of the damn way

    Some guys are always getting dunked on…eg Kendrick Perkins. But Id go so far as to say it has increased his rep around the league as a guy that would rather look bad and win.

    Thoughts? Are there any advantages to getting dunked on?

    If its a big guy defending the rim, its going to happen eventually.. Any big man that take pride in defense has been dunked on a couple times..

     I think it depends on the situation. The smart defensive players know when to challenge dunks and when to get out of the way. If your team has a lead in the game and the other team is attempting to come back, you don’t want to risk giving a guy a potential 3 point play or committing a flagrant foul which will fire up the other team, particularly if its a shot you really don’t have a chance at blocking. You also don’t want to pick up silly fouls if your an important player to your team.

    At the same time, I have to admit that it annoys me when you see guys just get out of the way when they definitely have a perfectly good chance to contest a dunk or take a charge. Its the ultimate pussy move imo. You see it happening more and more in today’s game in this age of social media when every highlight goes viral in a matter of mins. I think you always have to respect effort. Everyone is going to get dunked on at times, even the best shot-blockers like mutumbo, morning, olajuwon took their shots at times. But they definitely made players think before they challenged them at the rim.
