Stop_basketball_nonsenseParticipantSo I been keeping topic ideas in my head & i finally decided to let one out. This one is about the all star voting process. Who gets in, how the voting is officiated, & snubs.
—1st I want to talk about what I think the definition of a snub is. I think it hasn’t been specified. There have been many as far as analysts, players, reporters, & even us fans who make claims but instead of having the conviction to say who should not have made it most just say who got left off the roster. Here is my definition of an all-star snub.( when a player does not get selected to the all star roster, when not only have they contributed to winning, but there is no doubt that they deserved to make the roster, and there is a player who can be named who wasn’t as deserving as the former.) Example korver was selected to the 2015 nba all star eastern roster, which was a snub of Brandon knight. I would like to hear other’s opinions on the matter in regards to precious snubs.
—2nd& 3rd is voting officiating & who gets in medley for next 2 paragraphs. There has been rumors of consideration of adding an extra unknown amount of roster spots. I have this included. We all know how the starting 5 is picked, by fans, which recently is becoming more& more less factual regarding the players actual accomplishments. Kobe, greatest of my generation, but he has missed the majority of the past 2 seasons & still has been voted into the starting lineup. By coaches for the reserve roles, Devin harris making the squad in 2009 even though the nets showed no signs of making the playoffs. I feel the fan voting should stat the same, based on my next modifications. Next 7 voted for by players& a plus 1 voted for by coaches & in the event of injury the player chooses their own replacement. I mean the fans coming to watch the games, or on television & buying the merchandise advertised by the players is what puts $ in the players pockets so fans do deserve something even if they get it wrong a lot.
—Players know the most considering they play each other, that’s why I gave them the most spots to vote on& the plus 1 is for all the good players in the league. I know in the east this year it was like pulling teath to find capable, deserving candidates, but many were hurt also with dragic their a whole year, Ellis in the east, paul George & brook lopez, D.Rose hopefully, healthy there should be enough spots. Plus even though I am a fan I couldn’t give us the power of a plus 1, no telling who would get voted in. I think regardless of who starts as long the superstars gets in it,out of the rest of the players who might just be elite at 2 things & pretty good overall players someone has to miss it, & this gives fuel to future motivation for a player who hopes to make the roster in future years to come. Thoughts

herceg_bukuParticipantAll Stars players should be obviously the elite players in the game that contribute and standout stat wise and making their team better. Not the players who are a great fit for a team so they get elected to the game because their team is doing really well (Korver). I still dont believe that Al Jefferson and Monta Elis never made a single All Star game and DeMarcu Cousins almost got snubbed.
PS. I am not for all this fans voting, because there a lot of fans who only vote because of what they know from mainstream media and not what the actual players production is and how much he contributes.
PSS. Great topic

ZachAttackParticipantFirst of all *P.P.S.
But seriously, I like your comments. I hate how Kobe is an all star every year because he’s on the Lakers. I get that he gets it because of reputation and all, but I think it’s just stupid that he always gets in when he’s injured or hardly producing anymore on a bad Lakers team. I also didn’t like Korver making it, a guy like Jefferson definitely deserved the spot over him. And I’m not a Charlotte fan.

Memphis MadnessParticipantThe top 5 players based on total votes get to start in each conference regardless of position.
All Star Ballots list all the eligible players and you pick your top 5 regardless of position.
this is the all star game. Who cares if there is a true power forward out there? Let LeBron run point.
If last year’s West squad started Steph, Westbrook, CP3, AND Harden so what? Run those four guards out there with Blake Griffin as the big man.
Then have the coaches pick the second team: two guards, two forwards, and a center or a guard, two wings, and two bigs. Then let the players pick the last two spots.

Rip255My problem with the All Star game is that its not competitive.
The fan voting stinks…that should go. Let the Commish or coaches choose…I dont care. But not the fans cos most fans are idiots.
Find a way to make the game more than just rich guys laughing and throwing lobs and I’ll watch.
At present…its SOOO CHEESEY.

JMoney31ParticipantI think there should be some combination of players, coaches, GM’s, comish etc pick the first 10. Once these 10 are picked, let the fans vote for the last 2 on each team. This should help eliminate snubs, and still keep the fans involved. Fan voting would be quick, and it really doesn’t need to start in December anyway. Let it happen for a week or two. They would have to announce the teams a little eariler to make this happen.
