John Wall

Easy way to draw me towards a topic, have John Wall in the title lol. Ever since he was at Kentucky, people have been saying that his shooting needs to improve for him to be an elite player. Well, now his shooting is definitely respectable and we’ve seen the results. Obviously if it keeps improving then that would be beneficial for the Wizards, but I don’t think his shooting is what’s keeping this team back from contention. If he was healthy in the playoffs, they beat the Hawks and have the best chance of anyone in the East to best the Cavs. I believe once Chris Paul starts to decline, he could be in the top 3 PGs in the league (along with Curry and Westbrook) and eventually have a few MVP caliber seasons

To be honest if john wall was on the warriors team, instead of curry, I passionately feel the warriors still won the championship. Wall isn’t as good as curry offensively from a scoring standpoint, but his elite defense makes up the differential, as far as the other team’s & more specifically whoever they guard, if u had them play the same guy & looked at that guy’s production after the 2 games. To make it even more fair no switching/ hiding for curry 1- v-1 the whole game!. Paul-1st, Curry& Wall tied for 2nd my opinion.

My favorite player in the league (along with Kobe). He is truly one of the most underrated superstars in the league. Early last season I viewed him as the 3rd best PG in the league, but now if he isn’t he is at least the clear-cut 4th best PG. I feel like he’s on a level of his own in the sense that he’s behind Curry, Westbrook and (maybe) Paul, yet he’s better than the guys (who should be) behind him such as Lillard and Kyrie. He’s better than Kyrie and Lillard who get fed to the fans wayyyyy more than he does, and he even got snubbed for a spot on the All-NBA team this past season and imo also the season before that. He is a true superstar and leader of a playoff team that’s just on the bubble of being a true contender. And as the article points out, just a little more in-house improvements from John himself and the team as a whole and they will be true contenders.

It is true he needs to improve his shooting. He actually became a really decent 3 point shooter in the 2013-2014 season. His shooting stats that season were actually comparable to or even better than Kyrie’s that year. This is why I was kind of disappointed that his shooting regressed back this year. If the Wizards are actually serious about playing small-ball more this year, then John really needs to improve his shooting in order make them really dangerous with that play-style. As the article said, Kyle Lowry-Jeff Teague levels will do. And I think that target is within reach for this year. By joining the Team USA mini-camp once again, I’m sure he will be motivated to improve even more for this season, most especially if he gets cut again. 

If his shooting improves, he will be able to take over games even more because that is another aspect of his game that I think needs improvement, and should snowball from improving his shooting and being confident with it.  It will make him become more unpredictable (help lessen his turnovers), and as said in the article, it will benefit his teammates as well.
