Robb_CParticipantDamn.. I really hope he bounces back from this, a lot of his game is obviously wrapped around his athleticism..

Memphisboy14ParticipantAt least he has time on his side as he’s only 17 right now I think. But, due to that he may struggle a bit initially after coming back from that injury most players always do. I’m just scared that this could lead to more issues down the road (doesn’t have to be that way obviously). I’m starting to hope that more of these hyper-athletic players start to depend less on their athleticism and more on their skills. That could possibly lower the injury risk. Great athleticism should be used to augment the skills you already have. It shouldn’t be used as the primary part of your game. Not saying it’s Dennis’ fault at all because it’s not but just a thought of mine. Hope he uses this setback as a way to maybe become less reckless and more methodical. It’s okay to go all out at times. But he needs to become wiser at picking and choosing those moments. It all comes in time though.

GBeeParticipantAs athletic as he is, he doesn’t exclusively rely on it. He’s shown improvement this past year in playing with pace and setting his defender up with change of speed, direction and screens. That’s where his game has taken that next step, putting him at the top of his class for PGs. I personally don’t think he needs to tone it down. Sht just happens. Injuries occur for a number of reasons. A single misstep, coming down on another player, playing while fatigued, poor preparation, etc. A torn ACL can happen during the most innocuous plays. A change or tweak in style of play can’t prevent that.

For_Never_EverParticipantIs he really that great of an athlete ? I read before people saying he is an elite athlete or he is the best athlete out of the pg the class. I looked up vids of him, and thinking he is average at best in that department, but maybe I looked up the wrong guy or old vid ?

ncballerBrother, either your conceptualization of elite athleticism is off base or you looked up the wrong vids. I hope it is the latter.
Dennis is a great kid and always electrifies the crowd when he out there. I was looking forward to watching him play his senior season.

TarHeelRavenParticipantUh yeah, you definitely looked up the wrong guy. Dennis is an elite athlete. There is nobody who can stay in front of him at the high school level. Thinking that it takes about a year for a guy to fully recover from an ACL tear, he’ll be 100 percent for the time he suits up for whatever college he chooses in November of 2016. Sucks he’ll miss his entire senior season though.

Memphisboy14ParticipantIt may take him a little bit of time to get his game back due to him being away from it for a good bit of time. Also, it may take just a bit of time to get his legs back under him so he may seem less athletic initially. I think he’ll be fine after about 1 month of play.

JR RyderParticipantDont be so certain. Hes not in the NBA where they get the best medical treatment in the world. Quincy Miller was never the same player when he had his injury in high school.

GBeeParticipantMiller wasn’t athletic before the ACL injury and wasn’t athletic after. He fell off for other reasons, mainly lack of intangibles, strength and growth in his game.
