Bmore_DCParticipantHas anybody else been watching these games? I didnt even know it existed till this year. I turned on ESPN when it just said "basketball" and it was Boeheims Army vs. City of God, a team comprised of former Cuse players and a team based out of Baltimore (lived in both cities) so it kinda got me into it. Its mostly guys over 25 still trying to make the league and the winner of the tournament gets around $1 million.
Its actually a good product and a mix between pickup and structured ball with ex-NBA refs. Anyways, today is the championship between "Over-seas Elite" vs. "Team 23" at 3 pm on ESPN.

dcaseParticipantThe TBT has been very entertaining. I actually went to the elite eight games in Chicago last weekend…..mainly to watch Boeheim’s Army. Although it wasn’t the outcome I was hoping for, it was a good experience. Got to see Hakim Warrick play and my favorite Cuse player of all time (Moten) coach the team. City of Gods had 5 former NBA guys on the roster (including two lottery picks) and just were too quick and shot the ball from the guard position too well for the Cuse team to prevail. I thought that the City of Gods team was going to win the whole thing but they were handled easily yesterday by Overseas Elite.
The finals today should be a good game and definitely worth watching.

Bmore_DCParticipantYea i figured City of Gods too but Over-Seas Elite was just draining 3’s on them. I cant figure out why Kabango is not in the league, the announcer was saying most of Over-Seas Elite players wouldnt be the worst players in the NBA but these teams in other countries are paying these guys a lot of money. Plus these kinda tournaments and the D-League for more exposure.
Please tell me you saw big ol Mike Sweetney??

RUDEBOY_Participantyeah,about 2 weeks ago i stumbled upon it,the same way you did…its been interesting watching former nba & college guys balling again…considering the talent on their rosters,i think alot of people had city of gods or boeheim’s army winning it all….city of gods had 10 former nba draft picks on its team…and boeheim’s team had hakim warrick, donta green, lawrence moten, rick jackson, eric devendorf & demetris nichols..i mean most of those guys played at cuse at the same time…..
but just like alot of these settings, its the guards who’ve dominated…former texas guard myck kabongo and cj mccolloum’s brother eric have helped overseas elite advance to the final game….i think i remember the announcers saying they shot 53% from 3 and 56% fg for the game….
its a winner take all event..no money for finishing 2nd or 3rd…i thought every player on the winning team will get the exact same amount..but watching it yesterday, they had 1 player possibly getting 60,000 & another 25,000..i havent found out how that million dollars is broken down……

Bmore_DCParticipantI think Sweet starting hitting the bottle too much, and he obviously liked to eat too much as well. Kinda sad, but good to see him still playing.

dcaseParticipantI read on rotoworld last week that he has battled depression for many years but was getting things turned around. roto also said his weight got up to 320lbs. On TV and in person I would say that was a bit of an underestimation.
That city of gods team also had Demarr Johnson…..talk about someone that has overcome a lot.

TRC1991ParticipantDavin White, the PG for team 23 was unconscious…Guy simply couldn’t miss. Absolute baller.

ChewyParticipantcarried Team 23 offensively. But Kennedy did the same thing for Overseas Elite. For two teams that showed all tournament that they play as a team and share the ball… the final game felt like a one on one offensive matchup between Kennedy and White.

European BasketballerParticipantOn the first post, these players from "overseas: are not "still trying to make the league". I can assure you that players like James Gist and Errick McCollum are not trying to make the NBA. They are making tons of money in the leagues they are playing in and Gist for example plays in very high level in Euroleague and in a very big club.
So no, they are not trying to make the NBA. That is complete nonsense.

ChewyParticipantit was a weak fight and I don’t think you could even call it a fight. Kabongo overreacted on a small foul and spin and sorta-kinda brushed the defenders head. Defender holds his head like he got a right cross from Ronda Rousey and one wing on Team 23 flips out and starts yelling… that’s about it. No punches thrown, no technicals even given for the "action."

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI didn’t see the final but I saw some of the earlier rounds. Some of the play was good and some was extremely choppy and mostly one-on-one. It was interesting to see some ex-nba and college guys back in action. Some of them still looked they could play and some just looked awful and completely out of shape( Mike sweetney, hassan Adams). The two guys that impressed me the most were Davin White ( who I’d never even heard of ) and DJ Kennedy.

When did i ever say they were all trying to make the NBA??? And i highly doubt that none of them would turn down an NBA contract if it was the right opportunity. Read the full post before you comment on something and say its nonsense. At least i actually talk about BASKETBALL unlike you..troll…

VRod305ParticipantReally, if you think about it, the TBT is kind of one big tryout for the NBA. Just like the summer leagues and training camp. Like during the stoppage a few years ago when they played the big pickup games, it was a tryout for some guys.
