nick5354ParticipantNot sure if this has been posted yet, but I looked and it doesn’t seem to have.
Delly has signed a one year deal worth $1.2 million.
It doesn’t seem like he was able to get that 4-5 million deal he was after, and rightly so. He is a bad offensive player and average ball handler so he definitely was not worth a 3-4 million a year deal like he wanted.
But I think this signing is good the Cavs. They got Mo William to come off the bench to give you offensive so the Cavs don’t really need Delly to provide this offense as Williams does. what he does give you is 110% every minute he is on the court, GREAT shut down defence (his work on curry was extremely impressive, great 3 point shooting (.400 3pt) and he gives the Cavs fans there new fan favourite back.
They also got those trade exceptions from Portland so all in all I am happy to see Delly back in a Cavs uniform and it is a good deal for the Cavs.

ChewyParticipantsurrounding Lebron with teammates that are willing to do the dirty work is always a good sign for the Cavs. TT is blue collar, Andy is a hustle and D guy when healthy, Moz is tough on the boards and Delly is a tough minded player which is nice to have even though he is expected to be player 10- 12 on the depth chart.

nill650ParticipantDon’t be surprised if Delly remains the 2nd pg in the rotation with Mo getting more minutes at the off guard spot.
In fact I would’nt be surprised if it changes all season and a lot in game/depending on the match ups.
This signing is all about depth and versatility.
Their next signing needs to be Dom Pointer… He is a big time slasher who can get to the rim with ease…but the key reason is for his high level defensive prowess and the athleticism to carry it onto a contender like the Cavs from day one. He is not a shooter so he would see limited minutes on most rosters, but he would be perfect on the Cavs.

ChewyParticipant1. Mo Williams could easily slide into the 2 guard slot. I agree w/ you there.
2. Given Irving’s injury history, it would just make sense that in a certain ammount of games during the regular season you rest him and keep him at the 15 min mark and push Delly’s minutes up those nights. Is Blatt NBA savvy enough to do that and not hurt team chemistry or team wins?

Mr. HookShotParticipantMarket dried up quickly for him I guess, and he probably wants to play for a championship.
Note to all teams looking for an improved version of Delladova: sign Aaron Craft

OaktownWarriorsParticipantI know that NBA teams have alot of cash to spend, however 1.2 million for a 3rd string PG? He hurt the Cavs more than he helped him last season. I could beat him in a game of "HORSE", because homeboy can’t shoot!!! At least they only signed him to a one year deal. There has to be better PG out there?

sitlbitoParticipant" however 1.2 million for a 3rd string PG?" You want to talk about the NBA but you don’t understand the salary cap?

phila9012ParticipantThey should be able to pay him the 3 or 4 million a year he is worth as a 3rd sting to back up PG next year. I don’t know why he would leave. It is best for his long term career if he stays there even if it is for a little less money. He plays defense and can shoot. So he has at least 2 or 3 more years to focus on developing his playmaking ability before he will need to display it because lebron and kyrie can hide that weakness. Like Lebron and wade hide chalmers weaknesses as a playmaker. Where if he went to another team who didn’t have two top playmakers he could be exposed

ChoppyParticipantWasn’t Delly a restricted FA? I was under the impression he signed his QO making him an unrestricted FA next year. That’s probably one of the reasons he got no real offers from other teams, for fear the Cavs would match.
