valentineI’d like to propose a breakaway basketball competition. Not from the NBA…but rather the WNBA. And it’s based on a very similar concept employed in another sport – American Football. Introducing…
The Lingerie Basketball League
Given that Female Professional Basketball players make very little money in comparison to their Male counterparts…I thought this would be a good opportunity to increase the earning potential of women athletes in their prime…who dream of playing professional basketball.I propose it is a 3-month season that runs in the NBA Off-Season. The 8 Franchises are listed below:
- New York Hustlers – Coached by JR Smith
- Philadelphia Foxies – Coached by Allen Iverson
- Las Vegas Dice – Coached by Larry Johnson
- Hollywood Honey – Coached by Swaggy P
- Detroit Lowriders – Coached by Dennis Rodman
- Chicago Shooters – Coached by Joakim Noah
- Indiana Amazons – Coached by Ron Artest
- South Beach Vampires – Coached by Birdman
As I am not an expert in ladies sportswear, I’d leave the uniforms up to the individual teams to decide how to best market their merchandise.
There are also small changes to the rules to increase the level of excitement.
- Hoop is lowered to 9feet.
- Dunks are worth 3pts
- Blocks at the rim are worth 1pt and Automatic Possession
So whilst a not completely original idea, I feel like female basketball players are missing out because their sport doesn’t have the same glamour factor of Maria Sharapova or Ronda Rousey.
So I guess what I want to know is….what are you watching if the following are broadcast on ESPN Simultaneously.
- ESPN 1 – WNBA (Griner vs Taurasi)
- ESPN 2 – Lingerie Basketball League
- ESPN 3 – National Spelling Bee

Reptilian MonkParticipantI would watch the spelling bee. Those little kids spelling words I’ve never heard of being super smart inspires me to read more and try to become a smarter person.

goneParticipantAs a male I cringe of second hand embrassment at this post. Either you’re under 16 or just dumb, this is some sexist bs face palming foolishness.
By saying women make little compared to male counterparts when you fail to realize the wnba has only been around since 96 and the NBA has been around 1946! And the NBA didn’t see its first million dollar contract until the 80s. >____>
Completely outrageous utterly DISRESPECTING real wnba players by changing the rules of a game THAT ACUTALLY EXIST FOR WOMEN TO PLAY PROFESSIONALLY. And the circus of a coaching staff would once again disrespect coaches that ACUTALLY EXIST AND COACH PROFESSSIONALLY. I won’t even go in depth on the uniforms smh :/
You should be dunked on by Lisa Leslie, and 1, then slapped by your momma because you didn’t get your feet out the restricted area.
Youre banmed for making post for the rest of the month

Bed HeadParticipantSo the "athletes" of the "Lingerie Football League" make as much money as male (American) football players? Or even anywhere near as much? Now, I don’t follow either "sport" at all, actually, but it would certainly surprise me if that were the case.
And if not the case, wouldn’t that mean this entire post was little more than worthless drivel? Or, worse yet, just some creepy old perv sharing his weird sexual fantasy? (No offense.)
P.S. Under no circumstances does Ronda Rousey ever belong in the same sentence as Maria Sharapova.
P.P.S. Or the same paragraph. Or even on the same page, for that matter. In fact, you know what? Just keep her out of the book altogether, actually.

phila9012ParticipantMost female basketball players wouldn’t look much better in more revealling clothing. I think there are a good amount that are attractive and fit but they are athletes first, not models. I have watched a few WNBA highlights of Maya Moore and Elena Della Donne. I think I would be less likely to watch those highlights if they were in revealling clothing, it would take away from the skill and they would make it gimmicky.

Bed HeadParticipantYou really need to cut back on your dosage. Trust me. I’ve seen these signs before.
Seriously, though, what exactly is going on here? You’re better than this, dude. Or at least you were up until about a week ago, when you, like, suddenly morphed into Morton Downey Jr.

Rip255OP Here…thanks for the emotive replies. I’d like to address some of the questions and comments. Regardless of whether my threads are popular or not, I believe they are entertaining, relevent, controversial and attract a high volume of participation.
Firstly – I apologise to those that are offended….Just because you don’t like something doesn’t make your values better than say…a group of workers drinking at a bar who would love this type of thing. Or women that like to combine fashion with athletic prowess. Don’t focus on the negatives…focus on the skills, entertainment and glamour of the spectacle.
WinterSoldier: I’m pretty creepy, but no worse than the thousands that are involved, and participate in the Lingerie Football League? The concept is essentially the same as an already established sport.
Bedhead re: Financial Q’s: The opportunity is what you make of it. Ronda Rousey earned almost nothing in her first professional fight…but her skills and marketability, in combination with a platform to demonstrate them, has made her ESPN Female Athlete of the year. Same could be said of the Bella Twins in the WWE.
Wizkid: No-one is direspecting female athletes. If they want the traditional league…there is the WNBA. No-ones taking that away from them.
I’d be happy to answer any further queries…but particularly open to those adding new initiatives to improve ratings & earning potential.

timinator1Participantwould be roundly killed here before it even got to the general public. This is utterly sexist, male fantasy wish fulfillment, and would never fly. The world is moving away from women expanding their "earning potential" based on how they look in lingerie.

Rip255The world is moving away from famous athletes parading around in lingerie and swim-wear you say?
As in…the world we are living in….MOVING AWAY from this type of thing? I don’t think even you believe that.
That’s a dream world. I’m not sure what world you live in…but in my world it’s been increasing exponentially since pretty much I can remember. In fact, they just opened up a new hooters at my favourite holiday spot.
What you meant to say is…"I wish the world would move away of that sort of thing"…..
Truth is…the world is moving towards that sort of thing. You just don’t like it.
All the guys in the pubs I drink at would LOVE the Lingerie Basketball League and trend towards it with great enthusiasm. Hence…the existence of the Lingerie Football League.
You should come down to my bar for a beer with me sometime. It would really open your eyes to the real world.

timinator1Participant…but no women would. And there’s the problem. And please, don’t make me mad by insulting me and telling me to see the real world. Oops, you did it already.
You understand we have problems in this country with body shaming of kids, of cyber bulling of young girls, sexism in nearly all occupations, wage disparity, and your suggestion to "earn more" is take your clothes off? You might want to read a newspaper instead of drinking with knuckle draggers at your bars.
Peace.

T RexIt’s not a bad idea, and dozens of other attempts at forming basketball leagues have failed.
Trampoline ball, 3 on 3 leagues, CBA, and many, many others.
Look at how eager most athletes are to strip naked for the ESPN Body Issue, or whatever.
How about lingerie basketball with trampolines
Trampoline Lingerie Association, or TNA. Everybody loves T ‘n A.
Or just Tramps on Tramps.

T RexYou know who’d be really good at Tramp Ball? That gymnist chick who just posed nude for The Body Edition.
She could probably dunk on a ’12 foot hoop jumping off a trampoline
