valentineIt looks like Delly is going to be offered a contract from the Blazers. The asking price is 4-5m per season and the Cavs cant afford to keep him.
What does this mean for the Cavs, as Delly was amongst the best back-up PGs in the league.
Also…what does this mean for the Blazers. Are they sneaking back into playoff contention?

cozmojimParticipantCavs got Mo Williams, he and Delli are very different players, but Mo brings way more offensive punch. He is an upgrade for sure. Portland does need a back up point and has plenty of money to throw around, certainly doesn’t put them any closer to the playoffs, but I like the fit.

cozmojimParticipantAlso where did you see this. I can’t find anything about it, and Porland just signed Phil Pressy.

tblazer_NZParticipantI hope he doesn’t land in Portland. I would rather give those back up PG minutes to C.J McCollum and Tim Frazier. He will just stunt the growth of other players that have potential. If Portland does this I will be mad. I would way rather stand pat. He isn’t a facilatator and his shot is not as good as one might think..388 on his career from 3 but only .384 on all 2 point fg.
Just because there is money to spend doesn’t mean it needs to be spent. As a Portland supporter, the playoffs are way out of the question. The highest Portland could get in the standings is 11th in the west.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantHe played well next to Lebron and he is a great hustle guy, but I don’t think he’d look nearly as good in a rebuilding environment, and would only be taking minutes away from Portlands young guards. Delly would do best to stay in Cleveland on a cheaper contract if he wants to be in the best BASKETBALL situation for himself, though who can blame him if he takes a 5mil a year contract, thats a heck of a lot of money, even if it is chump change by NBA standards nowadays.

hoopscopParticipantHe is one of the worst players in the NBA according to all advanced metrics. He is not a good basketball player, period, he is gritty and definitely dirty with all his soccer moves. It is more probable he is out of the league 4 years from now. Giving him more than the minimum is a sign of incompetence.

nill650Participanthe is very unathletic and cannot compete against athletic high iq players…whoa big shocker …but to claim he is not a good basketball player or that he does’nt fit into some advanced metrics box is no true appraisal of his worth as a teamate, his bb iq is off the charts. You ask any one of his teamates at st. mary’s or in the Cavs org.
who cares if he is the 12th option on a contender its better than you as a no option on your couch…he must be a dirty player though since we have seen him fall down when the opposition is diving after 50/50 balls and he just falls into them.

SwatLakeCityParticipantFor all those people who think Delly is a dirty player: You don’t know what a dirty player is. The only reason why you say that is because of what you saw in the playoffs. But what you don’t realize is that Delly was just playing hard, to win a championship. You are saying that because you saw what he did against your favorite team, and you didn’t like it. If he played for your team though, you wouldn’t be saying that. You’d probably actually like him. I know I would if he played for the Jazz. I don’t care if he can’t shoot. He’s a great backup point guard, and his playing style is contagious. It would rub off on the rest of the team, it doesn’t matter what team he is on. I’m happy for him whereever he ends up. I don’t care if they give him 5 mil or whatever. That’s decent and well worth it for a player of his caliber. All of you that are sayin’ Delly is a dirty player, need to grow up and look around, and then think about your definition of a dirty player.

nill650Participantrelax,most people know he is a more complete player than a lot of 2nd year pros …but it is obvious his lack of athleticism requires him to be unorthodoxed and what some deem too careless , but at the end of the day he is just all heart and hustle…which is why he got playing time and a camp invite in the first place…if he wasnt worth 4-mil blatt would have left him on the bench, and let shump run the point…in a year when players who don’t deserve max money are getting it,i don’t know how anyone can assume Delly isn’t worth at least 1 mil a yr.(as a back up) not worth that much as a 3rd option like he would be in Cleveland with Williams back. Depends on the situation, I don’t see him geting paid though that all being said…i think he comes back to cleveland on a 2yr 2nd yr non guaranteed

Bed HeadParticipantOr so I am forced to assume.
First, Rip writes an intentionally misleading title presenting a rumor as a fact. Then inexplicably suggests one of the NBA’s worst teams is somehow suddenly a playoff contender via the signing of a single scrub.
As for my little ghetto clown … clearly those posts were not meant to be taken seriously. You guys need to lighten up.
P.S. T Rex, you have no clue how (unintentionally) funny that comment truly is.

nill650Participantpretty much noone outside of Cleveland seems to think he is much of a player…heck even cavs fans don’t really like him that much because his unorthodoxed hustle plays do get people hurt, and it does almost seem like an * can be placed next to some of their playoff victories because of korver . but it all started with his leg lock to gibson, who was talking a lot and deserved it. I think it is f’n hilarious that since he is a neanderthal who played rugby but cares more about winning than stats and metrics like most of these aau self absorbed chuckers that he must be a lousy player but i disagree esp since he managed to f up curry pretty well …heck he made them change their entire game plan to get the title…
Yeah he sucks
