zaphodParticipantHas anyone else had a chance to watch him at the Pan Am Games? Extremely impressive for a kid his age… not only has he held his own, he has looked like one of the best players on Team Canada. He is relentless on offense and shows no fear.
Team Canada is playing Mexico today at 6PM ET. You might be able to catch the live stream at http://www.cbc.ca (unsure if it is blocked outside of Canada)

bmac697ParticipantI didn’t get to watch any of the pan am games, but got to watch him in the McDonald’s all American game as well as the Canadian high school all star game. I’m not a scout so can’t write up a huge scouting report, but I liked what I saw. Like zaphod said he seems very mature for his age, plays a smart game and attacks the basket. He also looked like he would be able to handle the ball and set teammates up, but is a PG or a SG at the nba level. I’d like to think he’s a SG but in today’s nba you want to have an attacking guard and not so much that "traditional" point guard. I’m from Canada so maybe more a homer but I’m really excited for this kids potential. Him added to wiggins, Thompson, Joseph, olynk, staskus enis, lyles gives Canada a legit team to compete in Olympics I’m excited for their potential and Murray is just another talented up and coming prospect to come out of Canada.

SkalAndJamalParticipantJamal has stayed under looked since his first Nike Hoop summit game in the U.S.. While the Canadian national team has always stayed high on him, and for good reason. He’s a dawg coming off screen actions, he can score off the ISO, and really just gets the job done offensively. Defensively holds his own.
unpopular prediction but Skal and Jamal will be Calipari’s best all-around combo he has ever had(I know MKG and AD were amazing and Wall and Cousins are currently both superstars). Won’t go undefeated but will win the national title. Ulis, Briscoe, Poythress, Lee compliment the combo nicely.

RUDEBOY_Participanthe’s really worked on his overall game..becuz when i saw him 2 yrs ago he was just a spot up shooter..now he’s a versatile scorer thats capable of scoring points in bunches…….there are some concerns about his athleticism & playmaking..but i saw a picture online of him at the pan am games being tutored by steve nash, 1 of the best point guards of our generation, learning to play the point will help improve his stock as a nba prospect…….

SubZeroParticipantI’m a Kentucky fan so I’m hoping he’s gonna be great but I haven’t really seen much of him yet. I’ve heard “mini Brandon Roy” and if that’s true I’m stoked cause Roy was one of my favorite players, but I don’t know if that’s accurate or not

BiggysmallsParticipantRead the NBC sports article about him by Rob Dauster who’s one of the better NCAA bball writers I can think of.
It was interesting. He seemed generally unimpressed. Not sure if that’s just because of expectation, but he said to keep in mind the flaws are probably related to the whole being 18/19 thing.
He said he expects more of a Harrison type production than D’Angelo Russell, for better or worse. I’m sure getting tutored by Nash will help him, but PG is a position that takes time to grasp and insticts aren’t really coached up overnight, that can improve, but its not a quick fix to turn a ball dominant scorer into a guy that runs the team.
I’m definitly intrigued to see what he can do. The big PGs are becoming the rage these days, so his stock will start out high and Calipari has a track record getting the most out of PGs, so his development will be interesting to track.

Skeating12345ParticipantBased on what I’ve seen, he is much more consistent shooter than both of the Harrison Twins. I think that will allow him to have a more productive college career in terms of numbers than both of them.

holefillers1ParticipantHe is definitely not an elite athlete. He will need to be able to shoot and pass. If not then I agree with the Harrison comp. If he can then I could see him develop into something like Rodney Stucky.

zaphodParticipantThe thing I noticed from Canada vs. Mexico (and actually from what I’ve seen so far in the tourney) is that he’s really impressive with his ability to drive to the hoop and finish and/or get fouled. He’s not really looking to dish to anyone, he’s looking to finish, and he’s been doing it effectively. His floater is really nice. Other than that, he hasn’t really stood out one way or another.
Canada is playing USA in the semifinals now. If anyone wants to catch it, here’s the link:

T RexGolden State took him off the market, but Celtics point center Kelly Olynyk has been annointed as well.
A confident, aggressive dribbling Kelly Olynyk is a beast the likes of which the NBA has not quite seen.
Steve Nash, Brad Stevens, and guess who he played with ALL THE TIME in college at Gonzaga?
John Stockton, because KO played with his son.
Combine that with his father being the top youth coach in Canada, and his mother being the Raptors’ scorekeeper for 10 years, and you’re looking at an educational legacy that will make a lot more sense in the coming months.
Steve Nash was the best thing that could have happened to Olynyk, or any point center/point guard.
Olynyk’s NASTY lobs made Anthony Bennett look like an NBA player.

OhCanada-ParticipantMurray has always been a good player its just he has not had exposure. Hes always played better than any competition but is only getting credit now after getting exposure. He is also more athletic than people give him credit for. Anyone who says he is not athletic enough hasn’t watched him play enough. Plays like Jerryd Bayless but smarter/better feel. Smoother game same raw talent.

NBAjunkie81Participantof filling the NBA w/ great guards & big men so he’ll be part of that tradition & I think Murray has some of that "Clutch DNA" – Kentucky is going to have another Monster team next spring….

HitsterParticipantCoach Cal may not quite have a team to match the one that went 38-1 ( to almost quote Paul Heyman). But UK will as always be one of the teams top beat and in Skal and Jamal will have two legit top 5 prospects.
Just typed this an thought of the commentators coining "It’s from Jamal to Skal" or vice versa when the two link up for a play.
Jamal is one of the most interesting guys in next year’s draft as he looks to be the top guard on most consensus mocks at the moment and looks clearly the best freshman guard in the NCAA at the moment.
I don’t like to place players with teams so far out but Jamal would look a great fit at Philly this far out.
Does anyone have a good comparison for Jamal?
I noticed online, one of the guys who "discovered him" said he’s a new age PG and whilst he doesn’t like comparisons, if pushed he’d say John Wall/D-Rose without such explosiveness but interestingly Jamal is potentially a better shooter.
He also said he saw Jamal very much as a PG playmaker but that Jamal could also create from the 2 spot and carry a team as the main scorer.

bdiddy5115ParticipantI like the Brandon Knight comparison, but I also see some Lillard in him (more fluid than Knight, similarly high 3PA). Granted he’s bigger than both, and because of that he probably has more SG potential than either. His size and smooth J off the dribble remind me a bit of Beal but I’d definitely compare him to Knight/Lillard first.
