Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI’m kind of interested to see what everyone’s opinion is of him. Is he a guy that can be a rotation player or possible starter for a quality NBA team in the future?
I absolutely love his feel for the game and versatility. He plays at his own pace and uses his strengths to his advantage. Despite having almost zero quickness, he gets where he wants to go on the floor by using his awareness and basketball savvy. It’s almost like he’s playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers. His ability to make passes and see plays develop in advance is phenomenal and he is a pretty crafty finisher around the basket despite lacking explosiveness.
With that being said, I’m still somewhat skeptical of his ability to be able to find consistent mins and produce at the NBA level. I’m not really sure what position he plays for one thing. Hes really one of those guys that’s just a basketball player more than anything but unless you are a superstar you kind of have to find a niche at the NBA level and I’m not sure what that niche will be for him. Hes too slow to defend on the perimeter and not strong enough to defend in the paint and he’s a subpar shooter from the outside.
We’ve seen plenty of guys use a strong summer league performance propel them to a solid career and plenty of guys who were summer league studs flame out in the NBA as well. So what everyone’s take on Anderson?

Bencelticsfan2346ParticipantWell they call him slow mo for a reason he’s not very athletic and he seems to seems to see the game in slow motion and everything just comes to him if he was a better athlete he wouldn’t have gone 30th he’s a very skilled playmaker with an improving jump shot and I imagine he has at least slightly improved his athleticism working with NBA coaches and trainers I think if he continues to find ways to play around his athletic limitations like steph curry(too small, not a good enough athlete, not strong enough to defend NBA player etc. now the mvp and one of basketballs best pickpockets) he could be a good starter the key to him getting playing time this year will be his ability to defend if he can play defense to a high enough level where he at least isn’t a liability on D he should get more playing time if he doesn’t he’ll be riding the pine or switching from the NBA to the D league again I hope for his sake it’s the former and he gets some decent NBA playing time

high floorParticipantIt’s really cool that Boris Diaw is his teammate. They have quite a few similarities in their games, and who better on the Spurs than Diaw to show Kyle Anderson how to succeed with athletic limitations

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI get the diaw comparisons, but to me the major difference is that diaw is actually an underrated athlete, contrary to what many people think. He has the bulk to defend larger players in the post and actually has pretty nimble feet to defend players on the perimeter despite his size. He actually did pretty decent guarding lebron in the finals for short stretches. In his younger days (before he put on weight) he actually had pretty good quickness and athleticsm. The feel for the game is similar, but diaw is just a better natural athlete imo.

B-ball fanParticipantIf he bulks up big time. I think he will be an excellent player in time, but he will need years to build muscle to the point he can defend guys at the NBA level.

OhCanada-ParticipantFind some minutes for him. Today’s NBA is almost position less. You gotta plug him into a lineup and hide his weaknesses. If you do that successfully you will be able to reap a ton of rewards from his strengths.

herceg_bukuParticipantHe reminds me of a european player by the name of Dejan Bodiroga, he was an oversized PG with exceptional knowlegde and skill, became one of the greatest players in European history. If Anderson has his head on straight and keeps working in the great system he already is in, he may become a very very solid player in this league.

King CaluchaParticipantBodiroga was a good shooter and an amazing creator off the dribble. His midrange game was terrific. I loved his game.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI would put him in some smaller lineups with TP and Green at guard, Aldridge at center, and Kawhi Leonard at the other forward spot.
I guess you let Kyle Anderson be the playmaking forward with Kawhi being the scorer, rebounder, and defender.

elliotmcadooParticipantHe is too unathletic like what position was he even guarding out there last season? Defense is the only problem I feel he’s got, so crafty around the rim everyone knows about his court vision basketball IQ and rebounding. Very solid plug in piece who should run the second unit out there in Sam Antonio I think he will have a very productive year.

TRC1991ParticipantKyle’s lack of athleticism acts in his favor a lot of the time. People over-compensate all the time when defending him because they anticipate him to be in places he just isn’t, due to his slow movements, but he’s a damn good player, and crafty as all hell.

That stepback J he’s got is a splitting image of him.

T RexIt was me last year, before the draft, when I compared him to Pierce and had Anderson in my top 10 in March/April.
I don’t quite see why Slow Mo can’t be part of a big 3 with LaMarcus Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard, and part of a Spurs team that contends every single year for a long time.

Bed HeadParticipantI mean, the authenticity with which you so perfectly capture the "voice of the streets" is astonishing! It’s all about "keeping it real", and I’m not sure anyone has ever "kept it real" to quite this extent.
You are so the Jean-Michel Basquiat of NBADraft.Net. Which I guess makes this Kyle Anderson comment kinda like your own version of "Two Heads on Gold". And the Jimmer Fredette post (my personal favorite) your "Riddle Me This, Batman".
P.S. When I saw these last night, I was laughing so hard, I couldn’t breathe. Seriously, I couldn’t take it. I was on the floor, crying.
P.P.S. Soooo, are you, like, seeing anyone?
