trelos6ParticipantTy Lawson has been traded to the Rockets.
This elevates Houston as legitimate contender status.
Lawson, Beverly
Harden, Thornton, McDaniels
Ariza, Brewer, Dekker
D-Mo, Jones,
Howard

trelos6ParticipantLawson played 75 games for Denver last year. He averaged 36min, (31 in his career), scoring 15.2ppg (14.2ppg for his career).
While he isn’t the best shooter from the field, he’s lightning quick and shoots the 3 ball at a decent clip (.341 last year, .369 for his career). He is also a solid FT shooter (.73 last season, .771 for his career).
Finally, he is a great assist man, especially with the drive and dish. Can’t hurt Houston to have another ball handler aside from James "I do everything" Harden.

IndianaBasketballParticipantEven with this move, they’re still 5th or 6th best in the West in my opinion.
Ty Lawson is a better player, but I still think Patrick Beverly is a better fit alongside James Harden in the starting lineup. Harden has been ball dominant with the Rockets, but he was successful playing without the ball with the Thunder. When they lost the series to the Warriors in the playoffs, Kevin McHale mentioned that Harden had to get better playing without the ball. Hopefully he has. If so, he and Lawson could work really well together.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI’ll add… I’m also interested to see how this move affects the team chemistry wise. Pablo Prigioni was a great locker room guy.

OhCanada-ParticipantIt’s hard to rank the west. I’d say Golden State has proven they are the best last year. They get my preseason #1.
After that there are 5 teams I would say are equally competitive with OKC, SA, HOU, MEM, LAC
OKC likely has the most talent yet the pieces have to fit and it might take a while to finish that puzzle. Can they get the chemistry going without injuries taking its toll.
The Spurs made the biggest off season splash in my opinion. They also just finished proving the Spurs will always be the Spurs as Ginobli and Duncan pass the torch to the new era Leonard and Aldridge alongside Parker and Pop.
Houston has an MVP level player with James Harden as a runner up last year and one of the best Cs in Dwight Howard. The trade for Lawson adds to their intrigue and after taking advantage of a weakened West last year will look to keep building.
The Grizzlies were my favourite to win the Championship last year. Randolph is entering the later stages of his career although the smashmouth style of basketball is still alive in Memphis.
The Clippers are extremely deep and almost have too much talent. With signings of Stephenson and Smith they made it clear they are in it to win it. Sorry Marc Cuban you may have been on the this list instead if you were not fleeced.

sheltwon3ParticipantLosing Josh Smith to Clippers hurts. Josh Smith did a lot for them that people dont realize.

Bed HeadParticipantOkay, um, perhaps I should clarify my previous comment (as it possibly could have been worded slightly more politely) …
Now, what I meant to say was while I so deeply, deeply respect everyone else’s views very deeply, I personally don’t see Houston as a serious threat, imho. Considering Harden hasn’t been nearly as effective in the playoffs, Dwight is on the downside of his career, and Lawson is only barely above average, really (plus the PG position is super-stacked out West).
BTW, not to make excuses (for my earlier tone), but I had a positively ghastly day yesterday. First of all, I was forced to work despite being deathly ill. (And easily could have died, actually.) Plus the weather was beyond brutal, and made my hair all frizzy. I didn’t even get home until, like, really late.
So no more negs, okay? Cool. Oh, and maybe those who previously negged me might want to go back and "un-neg" me also?

Rip255Alternatively, I’m pretty sure it’s just cos you’re a witch. See below:
- "Ghastly" Day.
- Wednesday Addams and Horror Fascination
- Frizzy Hair
- Only active at night…..
- Selfies with cauldrons

nill650ParticipantThe clippers with the addition of smith, stevenson and the truth are more of a solid contender than houston getting lawson.
granted its a great pickup for them and provided he is’nt 20lbs out of shape from substituting candy for gin and tonics he’s been pounding for the last 8 years…than yes it makes them a better team, but until Harden plays defense which he rarely gives effort too he will continue to put up big numbers offensively while true contenders with depth like lac and gsw will wear him down trading baskets.
If Lawson can make enough shots to keep at least some of the double teams off harden in the 4th than it might make a bigger difference down the stetch and i am not counting houston out as a contender,I just think they are not by any means the favorite.

TripleDoubleScoutParticipantUmm,,,does anyone on this site recognize that Lawson is a friggin alcoholic? Before we elevate the Rockets’ status, can we wait until we see if Lawson’s treatment actually works? Geez…

Rip255Lol is he really an alcoholic or just stupid. Id bet at least of NBA players pop bottles daily in the off season. But surely most have a member of their entourage on speed dial for situations like this.
Everyone knows white cops hate rich black dudes in fast cars. Don’t these guys listen to Tupac for wisdom?

nill650ParticipantNO, nobody can talk their way out of a dui…except maybe angelina jolie
white cops are just as relentless and unforgiving to white trash drunks as black rich ones. You have to pull over if you are the average american…but unless you have been drinking less than 1 16oz beer, i guarantee you are done…at anything less than 200lbs Yes there is a certain amount of truth to some bad cops targeting suspicous drivers of expensive automobiles…But most police are just trying to protect our children from wreckless drivers, aka doing their job.
The legal system does’nt give a f if you had 1 or 5 frosty mugs…they don’t have the luxury of discriminating as to whether you consumed a little more than the legal limit but seem sober or are sf…if you fail the SOBRIETY tests (which are aimed to make 25% of all sober people fail) you will get a dui even if you refuse the guilt admittance machine /breathalizer….the law is so strict now its become a money machine…even though it was intended to prevent death.
I don’t drink but if i did I’d just bounce on the devil put the pedal to the floor…if you can afford a 9 second car than you should be able to stick it to the man…if nothing else the lawyer fees will be justifiable.
