I’m not going to rant that Orlando should have gotten multiple first round picks or a young shot blocking PF in return for Harkless.. but the fact is Orlando received very little in return from Portland in this trade from earlier in the week. Top 55 protected.. lol.

I posted a few weeks ago that newly appoint head coach Scott Skiles was a very intriguing hire for Harkless, and could really help him take his defense to another level. Yes, there is very little room on the wing with Aaron Gordon, Tobias Harris, Marion Hezonja & Evan Fournier. But why not give him some regular season minutes and trade him closer to the deadline? You’re telling me that this deal from Portland wouldn’t have been on the table in January 2016? Come on

If all you’re expecting is a very low 2nd round pick, a guy with Harkless’ physical tools would only improve his stock if he saw 15+ minutes of time on the floor. He may prove to only be a low end starter/5th option, but guess what?? That is valuable to a contending team, and making him available closer to the trade deadline could warrant at least a future 1st round pick in the late 20’s. Or a young shooter who was burried on the bench or started slowly out of the gates.. His defense alone should have garnered more.

I’m a fan of GM Rob Hennigan, he’s shown he can draft pretty well and has made some good gambles on trades in the past 3 years. But this is almost as much of a head scratcher as trading a freshly minted MIP Ryan Anderson to New Orleans for Gustavo Ayon (not surprisingly in Europe).

Like we say when all the good strippers are taken, "It is what it is, homie!"

GMs are playing Game of Thrones out here man. One man’s "garbage" can be another man’s treasure so these guys are wheeling and dealing for whatever sometimes. He’s worth more than 2nd rounder for sure. Maybe… TWO! secound rounders. I think it’d be hard for a team to give up multiple 1st rounders as you’re suggesting tho. His value is really low and got lower when Harris resigned and Mario was drafted. He’s got potential and I am a fan of Mo Harkless (Wanted the Sixers to keep him in the Bynum fiasco -___- ) but right now, you couldn’t convince most GMs to make that move.

      So true.

To clarify I wasn’t trying to suggest that Orlando could have gotten two 1st rounders for Mo or a young rim protector. That sententence was worded a little confusingly..

But a late 2nd round pick with that type of protection is a rough return. Mo is one of those players who could end up in China in 2017, or could be a key piece to contending team in need of wing defense. I look at the Clippers last year, and in a limited role Harkless could have been great for them.. especially against Houston in round 2. Maybe the type of player to even make 1 or 2 defensive stops during that crazy run in game 6 that changes the series completely.

The Bynum fiasco still makes me wonder about the life and universe and what is “now” all the time.

Orlando had to move Harkless. With Tobias Harris, Aaron Gordon, Evan Fournier, and Mario Hezojia (poor spelling). Harkless wasn’t getting minutes to develop. Wish he would’ve went to Philly, but Portland is a nice spot for him develop.

Moe average 3.2 pts a game last year, 18% shooting from the 3 and 54% from the free throw line, what where you expecting to get for him? There’s 2nd rounders who contribute better stats then that. Hell undrafted players with better stats.

Yes he had a terrible season in 14-15, but I’ve seen him play in person 15+ times and his athleticism and defense really jump off the page

Majority of NBA players are athetic, what does he do that most people don’t?? Athleticism only gets you so far, looks like he’s lacking basketball IQ.

It’s better for Harkless that he got moved. If a team is not playing and developing a young player with potential then it’s better for that player to go where there is opportunity. I’m also glad Lamb got moved I hope both of them become good players.
