Summer league thoughts

Myles Turner, Aaron Gordon, and Stanley Johnson have been the most impressive to me.

I’ve advocated Gordon to focus being more of a PF, but he looks like he’s taken some steps toward creating his own shot. Plus he drained 6/12 from 3pt range… I’m not ready to say he’s a future star at the SF spot, but he’s shown he has a really good work ethic to go with his athetic ability.

There’s so few legit shot blocking stretch 4’s in the league, and Turner is showing the potential to one day be that type of player.

Stanley Johnson has justified his high selection thus far. He’ll have a hard time getting big minutes out the gate, but I’m surprised that his overall skill-set has survived the jump in competition thus far. Looking like a steal

 Don’t know how much you care… but Bryce Cotton is playing great in the SL, had a 28 point game against Timberwolves and 20 points tonight against the Wizards. He never really had a weak game. I really like the kid and hope he sticks with the Jazz for a while. Hope that helps you a little bit.

Sean Kilpatrick (Cincinnati) playing for the Bucks.

Grown man’s game, sharpshooter, can score from all over the court, high IQ player

 Wilbekin is playing very well. I like him, but Pierre Jackson got the contract.

LAC signed 2nd round pick and he is playing much better than I thought. Could get some minutes right away if LAC try to rest Pierce for the playoffs.

WCS is WCS. For good or bad, he is doing exactly what people thought he would do.

I like watching Aaron Craft play, but I just don’t see him making an NBA roster this year.

Brooklyn needs to sign Boatright and Alexander. They both would be low cost/ high potential.

McGary is a beast and needs more minutes for OKC this (not over Serge obviously).

I don’t know how quickly Hezonja is going to develop, but he is already fun to watch.

 Scotty Hopson has been solid for the D-League select squad. As for his prospects for an NBA deal I think he needs to prove that he can be a knockdown shooter and committed defender. No NBA squad is going to be letting him ISO and take deep 2’s. 

Voneleh looks like he has put on some serious size. He’s been rebounding and scoring really well in the Vegas SL. 

A guy I like is Greg Whittington from Miami. He has had some up and down games (today’s being not so great) but the kid can play a little bit.

Jarrid Famous for Washington has been a terror on the glass. He plays so hard and he’s a decent athlete. I could see him getting a shot in the NBA somewhere.

 Exam only played in one game because he sprained his ankle, but he looked good by scoring 20 pts and helped Jazz fans breath easier looking forward to next season.  I agree it may not mean much but I think in limited minutes Marcus Thorton has looked better than Russell. It will help Russell to have Kobe out there with Clarkson penetrating, he should get more open looks.

Really like Justin Anderson ,right now it look like he is the best move the Mavs has done all summer .really hope it wasn’t just SL performance and he translates in the league

McBuckets showing that hw deserves a spot on the Chicago’s rotation with 28/8 tonight.

As a brazilian, liked Nogueira’s game with 11 points and 16 boards, with great feel for the game.

Caboclo was good in the first half, but didn’t find his game in the second, finishing with 15 points.

Norman Powell was good again putting up 15 points too…
