Deandre jordan . I’m not sure whether to blame the new nba or deandre for his overinflated value.

I can’t believe the status this guy has been getting these last 2 years. He’s been on the top 5,center list on this forum this morning. He has been getting all star consideration the last 2 years & I’m trying to figure out why?

Let’s be honest doc & cp3 are mostly responsible for his rise in nba status. Now I know just becuz someone helps you gets somewhere does not mean those achievements weren’t earned as Jordan has earned his & they shouldn’t b glossed over. I know guys like billups have also bene fited from good coaching, but after the pistons he wad still good. Still, without this guy without cp3 & doc rivers DJ is average. He literally gets over 70% of his points spoon fed to him by alley oops. He is a liability at the free throw line.  Plus he was ignorantly given nba 3rd team over jimmy butler& kahwi Leonard this past year.

I guess the fact that he was was voted a top 5 center over pau gasol, who plays both pf& center , al jefferson& al horford by my peers which severely frustrates me. All those guys don’t need to be spoon fed alley pop to be elite centers.

I guess considering a player is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay him which decides his value. I guess I blame the new nba for valuing someone so highly who only does 2 thing well. Rebounds& defense who barely can score without an alley oop.  No wonder he went back to LA. He probably started to doubt himself after thinking about leaving the comfort of cp3&,doc who created the successful version of who he is today.

If he ever makes the all star team over Marc gasol, Howard, or cousins it will be a sad day in basketball.

     agree 100%

His game is airbrushed with the help of better players, and hes straight up one dimensional. The fact that people rate him so high irks me big time.

And the fact that he got his momma to talk to mark cuban at 26 years old tells me what kind of man he really is.

You are right on a lot of things. He is one demensional, he does benefit from CP3 (so did Chandler and West for NO Hornets back in the day), he is unskilled, and this contract buisness does make him look stupid and immature.

But, the NBA got rid of handchecking and enforce a "no zone" rule. Those things combined with time where PG is the strongest NBA position make today’s NBA game much more open. That means in correlation shot blocking and rim protection become even more important.

High level guards + defensive guard can’t hand check= need for shot blocking to stop them

Ben Wallace was an all-star…Tyson Chandler is still earnig some money too.

I can guarantee that Clippers fans were in panic for a few days !

I don’t know how anyone can say this kind of thing about Deandre after the year he just had. I hate the clippers, like most people, but because the Celtics owned their pick this year I followed them very closely, and watched a ton of their games. I remember when Blake went down for a while I was like "YES! bring on that lotto pick baby!"…but that didn’t happen. In fact, the clippers went 9-6 without him, and beat the likes of the Rockets, Grizz, Spurs, CHI, OKC and Mavs, and a lot of that had to do with Deandre. In that span, Jordan averaged 15/19/1 with 1.4 blocks and 1.3 steals per game, and just dominated at times. Those teams mentioned above are also arguably the most STACKED in the backcourt in the entire NBA, so it’s not like he was doing this against some scrubs on bad teams. He literally was just moving bodies.

I specifically remember the DAL game, because that’s when it became apparent to me that Deandre was a force. In that game, something happened with Tyson Chandler, and he left early (Memory isn’t what it used to be). The second he left the court the game was virtually over, as the Mavs had NO ONE who could stop Jordan on the glass, and it led to him grabbing 11 offensive boards, and leading the way with 22/27 and 3 blocks. He did this multiple times all year.

I understand what you’re getting at, but I think you’re letting your bias of the Clippers and possibly CP3 get in the way of what the facts are, and those facts are that the guy led the ENTIRE NBA in rebounds and FG% for the past two years, was 2nd in OREB only to Drummond, 5th in FTA (drawing fouls can be a good thing), 3rd in blocks, and all of this he does playing practically every game every year for one of the best teams in the NBA. Players who do that tend to get paid, and you can’t just say some ridiculous statement like "Let’s be honest doc & cp3 are mostly responsible for his rise in nba status", when Jordan clearly has a huge effect on the game, and his team. While I wouldn’t take Jordan over Gasol or some other centers in the league, I do think he’s an all-star calibur player, and think he deserves the credit he got this year.

Well lets see, hes played and started in everygame for the last FOUR seasons. With the amount of injuries around the league every year his consistent durability at a  weakspot for the most of the league is great. Dude sets punishing screens every offensive position that goes the full 24. Jamal crawford and mostly JJ reddick have feed off this screens coming off them wide open.  Shoots 71% because he only takes the shots that our best for him and the team. Averaged 15 rebs, 2.2 blks and 1.0 stl, who the hell wouldnt want that on ur team. Theres more but ive said enough i mean if reggie jackson can get 80 million or Kanter 70 million you can see why any team would want deandre for what ever amount more.
