Has anyone watched Trey Lyles, I seen one game with him. He looked fluid and has a nice looking jumpshot. His pumpfake is really good and he’s great in the pick n roll. But this is me only watching one game. So people who have watched him more than me can you tell me what you’ve saw out of him.

I don’t know, but Jonathan Holmes is shooting lights out from 3 for my Celtics, to the point where I’m wondering if he’s no worse than Lyles or Portis. Holmes and Lyles have a fair amount in common, from height to weight to playing out of position at SF last year.

I’ve watched him in a couple of games.

Bad: He is not ready to bang with the big boys. He has a hard time defending strength in the post. Also, his shot is OK, but it still has a hitch that needs fixing. It’s not broken or anything, but he will need to work on it in a major way to become a viable stretch four.

Good: I have seen very few bigs with his ball skills. He has an elite handle and elite passing for a 4/5. And I don’t mean elite for rookies – I mean NBA elite even though he’s just a rookie. He can run the pick and roll like a point guard, which will be nearly impossible to defend if/when his deep ball becomes reliable.

As a Jazz fan I’m more than a little worried about Lyles he is shooting close to the the worst percentages I’ve ever seen. I hope he develops his shot during the year. I just looked it up it’s worse than I thought 31% FG and 7% 3pt 55% FT.

i would like to see him play with more aggressiveness & more fire….he’s too laid back..

but just like bloodshy mentioned,he has shown he has the potential to be a very good player….and you can see why teams as high as ny at 4,were considering him…

I agree with rude boy, Lyles needs to be much more aggressive, he is way too nonchalant, I love his skills ,moves well with the ball (especially for a PF) , passes well, mid range shot looks good even when he misses, smart , sees the floor well , all in all I really like him but he’s not playing hard enough, time will tell, Booker is a hustle player and even though Lyles is more skilled, he probably won’t get the PT he wants or needs IMO until he learns to play with greater intensity. I think he will learn that and so as a Jazz fan I’m hopeful and cautiously optimistic.

lyles had his best game of the summer league last night..he played more aggressive..showing that he does have 3 point range..i think at 1 point he hit 3 threes in a row..jazz fans have to be excited…..

     Winter Soldier,

yes, those shooting percentages are fairly abysmal…

    BUT

I was looking through the summer league stats and I saw probably THE WORST shooting stat I have EVER seen.

Courtesy of former Memphis Tiger Geron Johnson.

1-19 over 3 games with the LA Clippers.

The power forward stats this summer league have looked pretty random: Towns, Bobby Portis, Montrezl Harrell, Trey Lyles, Porzingas, Julius Randle, Jarnell Stokes, etc.
