OhCanada-ParticipantI know this is just Summer League but wow! Looks like nbadraft.net was right about him. He has a complete NBA game from what I’ve seen. Looks way too polished for summer league.
He just had a huge crossover drive with a dunk and looks like easily the most promising Raptor at SL including Bruno Caboclo. He seems just to confident and intense for this to be fools gold. Great player on both ends so far. Reminds me of two players Avery Bradley and Archie Goodwin.
Great trade Masai Vasquez for Powell and an unprotected 1st. Ujiri is the best GM in the league only makes trades he wins.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantI’d be wary about looking too deep into Summer League. Jeremy Lamb and Jordan Adams looked likr star guards in years passed to end up rotting on the bench

BasketballGuru24Participantlets not forget hall of fame summer leaguer anthony randolph…but powell is showing immense potential going forward, has easily been the best player for the raptors thus far. Sometimes we gotta give credit where it’s due and the kid has been straight balling out there.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantNikoloz Tshkitishvili averaged 25 and 10 his first summer league and needless to say he wasn’t great in the big leagues.
I do like Powells shooting stroke and his intensity, but I worry against big time opponents his athleticism and strength won’t be as dominant

DolanCareParticipantI love Norman Powell. But he won’t be scoring like this once the season starts. It’s been nice seeing him glide to the rim in SL, he may be able to average double digit points at some point. But in the end, his calling in the NBA will be perimeter defense.

Jr. ROXASParticipantLooks like Masai struck gold again getting this guy and Delon Wright. I like what Masai’s doing, trying to change the identity of this team by acquiring some tough-nosed defensive players. Didn’t resign Lou and got rid of Vasquez, who arguably were two of their worst defenders, while signing defensive aces like Carroll, Biyombo and Joseph and drafting defensive minded guards Wright and Powell.
The team took a step back last year underperforming after a surprise season 2 years ago. Luckily they have one of the best GMs in the league, and you can really trust Masai to turn things around. They got a solid lineup of:
PG: Lowry, Joseph, Wright
SG: Derozan, Ross, Powell
SF; Carroll, Johnson
PF; Patterson, Scola, Noguiera
C: Val, Biyombo
This team can D UP especially with Lowry there manning the point.

SpinCycle88ParticipantI think his skills definitely translate defensively during the regular season. Offensively, it’s going to take some time, but I like the confidence he’s showing.

kobyzParticipantHe reminds me so much Kent Bazemore who once also was summer league standout and won MVP, Powell ready for spot minutes with his energy and the understanding of how to use his atheltic ability to create scoring oportonities, getting to the rim and to play solid defense…
