There’s a lot of talk about the Sixers having no PG and it seems like Wroten is being overlooked. I understand he is inefficient and wild.  Let’s look at him overall.

Last year he started the season on fire averaging like 20-ppg and 7-apg from rough memory and picking up tons of steals as an inefficient fantasy stud. MCW came back, Wrote dealt with his own injuries, Philly dealt with constant roster and rotation scrambling and his effectiveness dropped. He still finished with 17-ppg 5-apg and 1.5 spg on the most disfunctional roster as a PG.

Wrote just turned 22 last month and is entering his fourth NBA season. He is like a seasoned vet compared to the rest of the roster. He know gets to play with a dangerous low post threat to ease the game for him and some floor spacers. I wouldn’t overlook him just yet not only that but this whole Philly team has some high end talent.

Wrote has huge talent. He has great passing skill get not the best court vision. He has proven he can shoot well when he isn’t chucking and playing hero ball. He is 6’6 and one of the most athletic and strongest gaurds in the league. He is also a great defender which helped Philly be a good defensive team last year and is overlooked.

Bold prediction but I think he makes some noise this year. I also think the Sixers will not be a bottom 3 team this year and may struggle to tank. They actually look promising despite Saric being overseas and Embiid being on the shelf.

    I still believe in Wroten.

I think he’s in a similar boat to JR Smith- worlds of talent but just not a great enough IQ to properly utilise it. The good thing is he’s only 22 and he can certainly prove me wrong, but to me he is just a big stats bad team guy, sixth man/role player on a good team

He is a scorer but he also is a turnover machine due to over dribbling and his wreck less passing. I like him as a scoring six man and even at the 2 but not my point guard. His basketball IQ is not high enough.

He is just way too erratic to be an effective starting PG. Much like Terrence Williams.

Tony oozes with potential, and has shown a lot of it, but he’s a combo guard – not a true PG…I think he’s a nice weapon to have off the bench.

He will be the starting PG.  Unless the Sixers sign a FA there is no one else on this team that is a true point man.  Canan and Mcrae and Pierre Jackson are all straight shooters and scorers.  I am also very interested in seeing how Wroten pairs with Okafor. He was able to throw lob passes to anyone who could dunk last year.

Jahlil has such a high ball iq on the offensive end he will create passing lanes for Okafor and easy buckets.

He is one of the lowest IQ players I have ever seen.  On a good team he’d have no role.

I’ve always loved Wroten’s game, and think he would be best suited playing the Monta Ellis role for a team (and that’s a player who I think he compares nicely too). I don’t think he’s as talented a scorer as Monta, but he is a good finisher, can slash, and brings a lot of energy to the court. Monta’s best years were when he was playing with a PG who could also play off the ball like Steph Curry and Baron Davis, and you notice that his efficiency shoots up when he plays next to this type of player.

I think that if you were to pair Wroten with someone like Damian Lillard or even a lesser talent like George Hill, you would see his game improve greatly as he wouldn’t be asked to run the offense all that much, nor would he be asked to carry the scoring burden that he was asked to do last year. PHI last year was one of the worst shooting teams in the league, and this really hurt his driving game, and he settled for far too many long shots. Tony Wroten should never be taking 5 3pnt shots a game, especially when he’s so good at drawing contact when going to the basket.

I think he will have a solid NBA career, and could eventually become a decent starter for a team that could use his abilities. He needs to work on that outside shot obviously, and just become a smarter player and not force the issue. IF you look at his turnover totals from last year and the year before, you’ll notice that most of his TO come from bad passes. With more familiarality and games under his belt he should be able to slow it down, and become a more efficient player. I made the comparison to Monta, and think it’s not unreaonable for him to do what Ellis did in MIL and put up 19/4/6 on 42% shooting.
