If the Rockets are able to re-sign Josh Smith they can deal a PF for a guard.  Celtics have alot of guards but need another wing player. Raptors need PF depth and have too many wings. Raps get a PF and vet PG, Houston gets an ideal backcourt mate to Harden, Boston gets a young wing and a non-guaranteed contract.

Raps get Terrence Jones and Pablo Prigioni.  Rockets get Avery Bradley. Celtics get Terrence Ross and Kostas Papanikolau (Terrence Ross can be switched for Raptors 2016 draft pick if Celtics fans prefer)

    Thoughts?

Very good trade although the Raps have a 15-man roster and cannot add two players and only let go one. Jones would be an amazing fit on this Raptors sqaud and addresses a real need with his versatility and ability to play PF.

Ross should have a bounce back year. He has added responsibility recently becoming a father and had surgery for bone spurs this off season. Apparently he was playing injured for the end of last season.

As much as I would hate to let Ross go there are just so many better situations for him than at Toronto.

Funny thing is Jones and Ross are best friends and grew up together.

Ya I thought about the best friend factor when writing the trade as it may help Ross.  So maybe the 2016 first round pick is the better way to go.  I actually included Prigioni because of the connection to Scola too (but he doesn’t need to be included in the deal).  The Raptors could send a couple players to the D league to free up spots (Caboclo, Nogueira, Wright, Powell or Roberts).

As a Rockets fan, I’d welcome Bradley, because I love defenders, but we need a #2 playmaker if we’re going to unload assets for a guard. I think Rozier might make more sense for us in terms of realistic Celtics targets.

    Trade makes sense otherwise though.

If Houston prefers to recieve a playmaker the same deal could be made except the Thunder get a draft pick and Papnikolau to cut in order to free up salary for Kanter. While the Rockets get Augustin and Novak and/or Perry Jones.

If you couldn’t tell, the Rockets are -4 games, it’s obviously a bad trade for the rockets.

You have to remember the change in projected record is based on the players PER which undervalues defensive contributions. Since Bradley gains more of his value on defense than anyone else in the trade, the change in projected record is misleading.

I was kidding about that. I think it’s a good trade for everyone. The whole -4 thing was a joke.

Building off this original great trade idea from Kerrst, I adjusted it slightly by adding Sullinger into the deal going to Toronto and re-routed Terrence Jones from going to Toronto instead to Boston. This allows the two buddies Jones and Ross to team up in Boston while the deal also seems to positively affect (although slightly) the Hollinger projected win/loss total from the original trade idea, it adds 1 additional win for Boston and 2 additional wins for Toronto.
