EspressoprodigyParticipantIf there is anybody in the league that attacks the basket with moves that look like photo copies of Flash Wade is Goodwin. I have seen 80% of Wades games, I have his slashing moves implanted in my brain… and Goodwin moves look just like Wade. ***I’m not comparing them or their abilities*** but the way that Goodwin just wills himself to the rim is pretty amazing, and I can’t wait until he develops his body fully, at that age Wade was still in college.
If Goodwin can get a shot he can be something very nice, and I feel like come people might have given up on him too soon.
I have been comparing them two since Goodwin’s rookie year, and now that he is getting older, crap, there is no denying that he resembles Wade in the way he can get to the rim more than anyone in the world.

For_Never_EverParticipantA lot of combo guards get compared to Wade for some reason because they are short for a SG, and or don’t have the skills to be a PG. Which I find weird because Wade has adquate height just right under 6’5 in shoes, monstrous arm length, great body and athleticism for a SG.
Archie Goodwin is the closest player I’ve ever seen to Wade phyically and athletically not too far away either. If it wasn’t for his body not haven’t yet fully matured, and give an inch or maybe half in height also Jersey. I don’t think people would be able to tell him apart. GBeeParticipantIf he had one saving grace coming out of college it was his slashing ability. That was bound to translate. It’s also not an ability that’s as common as you would think in today’s NBA. As a Bulls’ fan I’m still looking for another wing slasher who can collapse the defense from the wing. His slashing ability alone is why I thought he was a first round talent and wanted the Bulls to take him despite a subpar year.

IlladelphParticipantBeen a fan of Goodwin since he played at Kentucky. He actually translates better to the pro level than what I thought initially based on his college performance. He used to just put his head down and drive to the hole, and many times he would get called for charging. He is not a great shooter, and he has a low release on his 3. He relies heavily on his elite athleticism, and knack for slashing, to score most of his points. He is good defensively.
His option from his rookie contract was picked up so I think that the Suns still believe in him. He remains a bit of a project at this point since he is still 20 I think after 2 full NBA seasons. He could really stick for a long time in the NBA if he stays healthy, works on his D, and develops a consistent jump shot. Eventually he will not be able to blow by his defender as easily as he does now… watched the youtube clip above and he absolutely killed Mclemore with his first step and finished with a hard dunk. But even Kobe doesn’t drive and dunk like he used to. Goodwin needs to start turning some of his "upside potential" into real basketball skill if he wants a big second contract.
