bdiddy5115ParticipantMost draft classes get a reputation (for better or worse) nearly a year before the actual Draft takes place. The 2013 Draft Class (largely because of Wiggins/Parker) was incredibly hyped over a year in advance, and later the expectations fell back down to earth a bit (but the incredibly high initial expectations still played a role in the overall rep of the class).
Meanwhile, the 2016 Draft Class is being labeled as a fairly weak class, which I would disagree with. I don’t see an obvious transcendent prospect, but there’s a deep top group of players that could emerge, and the late-lottery to late-1st group could be stronger than usual.
Anyways, since the 2017 NBA mock will be posted here in the next few months, what type of hype do you think that class will get? I put together a quick list of guys who could be in that Draft, with some assumptions (that the eligible CBB/Intl players won’t declare for the 2016 Draft – marked with a *).

Obviously there are countless other guys you could put on here, depending on who you like in the 2016 HS class and who you think will/won’t declare before 2017, but what do you think about this class as a whole (at this incredibly early juncture)?

ChicagoCaseyParticipantThis is an elite class in my opinion. There’s tons of elite talent that should be in this class in Malik Monk, Josh Jackson, Thon Maker, Harry Giles, Jayson Tatum, Dennis Smith Jr., and De’Aaron Fox

Robb_CParticipantJosh Jackson and Jason Tatum are such crazy talents.. Jason Tatum is smooth, really has this Derrick Rose effortlessness to him the game comes very natural to him.. Josh Jackson is gonna be crazy good, when Derrick Miles was in High School the kid had the same exact game.. Miles was a headcase but was super talented.. Josh Jackson has supreme athletic ability and runs amazing in transition.. He’s like Andrew Wiggins in ways but has way more Heart than Wiggins..
Book it whoever lands Jackson is winning a national title.

ncballerAs of now I would take Dennis Smith number 1 with Giles a close 2. Dennis Smith is going to be a nightmare to guard when he adds the appropriate amount of muscle. Guy is a threat anywhere on the floor, can get wherever he wants to and knows how to run a team. Reminds me of Damian Lillard, although I think Dennis is a more pure PG than DL. Guy has an insane work ethic. He surged right past his buddy Seventh Woods in the rankings and he loves competition. Obviously, a lot could change, but Smith is my personal favorite at the moment.

ChicagoCaseyParticipantNaw, I don’t even have him as the number 2 pg in the class I have Malik Monk and De’Aaron Fox being better prospects than he is. Both taller, quicker, and more athletic then he is. Dennis Smith is a great prospect but he’s only 6’1", while both Monk and Fox is 6’4". And when battle head to head with Fox when he was with Team Penny Fox out played him big time. And I fell like Malik Monk is Russell Westbrook-esque.
My top prospects in order are
- Josh Jackson – 6’8" 2 guard with freakish athleticism and all around game
- Malik Monk – 6’4" point gaurd with freakish athleticism, explosive scorer, and underrated passer
- Harry Giles – 6’10" All-around power forward with a great handle for a big man
- Jayson Tatum- 6’8" Small forward with a great fell for the game and a great mid-range jumpshot
- Thon Maker – 7′ power forward with a unique skill set for a player his size that has a relentless motor
I sense a North Carolina bias from you since your name is "ncballer"

ChicagoCaseyParticipantMost scouts say he can transfer to full to point guard. And you must not watch him play if you do not believe he can play point guard in the NBA.

ncballerHe does not have the mindset right now to do so. He is an explosive scoring machine, but those days when his shot is not falling, he is not contributing much to the game for now. He is a volume scorer with questionable shot selection in my view right now. The sky is the limit for him if he can develop PG skills. As it stands though, I would not want him as my lead guard.

GBeeParticipantHe actually has pretty good playmaking skills. Not a natural distributor by any means as far as moving the ball around, running offense and being pass first, but not all PGs are like that these days obviously. He does look to make plays for others though and for someone with such an electric style he’s not TO prone and his scoring efficiency has been good this AAU season so that’s a sign of progress with his IQ.

@MoneyBall_APParticipantThere is a kid named Jarrett Allen who will be a top 3 pick in the 2017 draft. SPECIAL! Could possible be the next Tim Duncan.
6’10, PF. Great back to the basket game and athleticism, he is an ELITE rim protector. He is from Austin, Tx. Has not committed to play for any school, but which ever program lands him will be guaranteed a Final Four slot.

GBeeParticipantThere are number of overlooked guys you didn’t list who have good one and done potential. Outside of the top 10 I like:
Josh Langford – power, jack of all trades SG with a high motor
TJ Leaf- super skilled F with stretch potential, sneaky athlete
Tyus Battle- smooth prototype SG,with a pretty J and good handle
Mustapha Heron- similar to Langford. Strong, tough defender.
Sacha Killeya-Jones- Long, skilled, high IQ PF who can play in space
Marques Bolden- Strong, fundamentally sound C, great hands, can score over either shoulder.
Javin DeLaurier- Athletic, high motor, high IQ, budding skill level. Super productive, winning player.
I think all those guys have 1 and done potential. I really like the depth of that HS class.

reanimatorParticipantFrank Jackson, Rawle Alkins, Miles Bridges, Markelle Fultz are other names to watch.
I really like Langford. Too bad Izzo has a way of damaging top 30 kids. Hopefully Daddy Battle lets his son do what he wants and lets him recommit to the good guys.
