SpinCycle88ParticipantAlthough this deal happened a few days ago, I just heard something interesting from social media in regards to DeAndre going to The Mavs. Basically, CP3 and DeAndre Jordan did NOT like each at all. It seems hard to believe considering how many lobs they connected with, but DeAndre and Chris did not mix. Chris Paul is known for being a chippy, win-at-all-costs, leave-it-on-the-floor general. It’s no secret either that he has had no problem challenging a teammate, staring them down or telling them exactly how he felt in the huddle. DeAndre never liked this. EVER! Annnnnnd apparently he’s not the only big who doesn’t mix well with it, but that’s another post for another day. What may have put him over the top though and sent him on his way to Dallas was not the fact that Dirk cut his vacation short to meet with him, but that Chris DIDN’T even make an attempt to convince him to stay….
Now, let me say this: normally I don’t accept he-said she-said sources, but this just seems very much so possible! Personally, I feel like ever since that Laker deal that would’ve put Kobe and Chris got denied, that chip on CP3’s shoulder got even bigger and his teammates have been feeling the brunt ever since. Chris Paul is one of my favorite players and I would love to see him win one, but the way things are going, it may not happen until he is on the decline ala Gary Payton.
Thoughts??

xJumpManxParticipantNot sure anyone could say the Mavs were the better choice if winning is your primary motivation. Im sure Ego and player relation had to be involved in his choice. Hope he is happy in Dallas that is all that matters I guess. Winning is not the primary motivation for some guys in the NBA and Jordan showed that with his choice.

kerrstParticipantI’m sure the relationship with CP3 played a part in it but do not discount the fact that Deandre is going back to his home state and that it has no tax in comparison to the 13% he would pay in LaLaLand. Plus it seems Dallas really sold him on the fact that they see his offensive game and role expanding on their team.

SpinCycle88ParticipantHow much can really be expected from DeAndre offensively though? I would’ve loved to have sat in on that part of the presentation lol

Mr. HookShotParticipantThey probably said all the lobs inside are his to have rather than sharing them with Blake 😉

Magic JordanParticipantFrom a basketball standpoint the Mavs were not the right choice. If they are going to depend on DJ for offense they are going to be greatly disappointed. The best thing about this to me is Mavs only got a little better, and Clippers got significantly worse.

Game760Participantnext year when he’s "trying to post up" and gets stripped or gets fouled and has to fight for every point while his team is losing because of his shortcoming he’ll regret his choice. Also when he sees that fatboy Felton and Harris are his pgs and those 3-4 easy dunks a game aren’t coming so easy..that’s when he’ll regret it.But his true nature came out he doesn’t care about winning just patting his stats and hoping he can be an all star.

HitsterParticipantThe Clippers could have offered Jordan a bigger contract than the Mavs and whilst the Mavs have more depth, I feel that Griffin and CP3 are better players than anyone on the Mavs roster. It’s not like Griffin and CP3 are anywhere near the end of their career or Dirk still had a lot of years left in the NBA so I do wonder if there was clearly issues between Jordan and possibly CP3.
The Clippers have been a very strong team in recent years but I wonder if someone like Jordan might still see Dallas as possibly a more traditional stronger team. Also as mentioned above the Dallas tax situation may have played a big part in Jordan deciding to go there.
With CP3 apparently getting annoyed at his team mates and giving them a verbal bashing, it makes you wonder what would have happened if he had gone to the other LA team. I’m sure Kobe would not have taken well to someone giving him a verbal bashing if the team had not quite made it all the way.

khaled_a_dParticipant1st of all let me say I am a Mavs fan ,so I read tons about the whole thing
It was said that DeAndre was actually a huge Dirk fan for very long time ,he was sort of his favorite player and used to wear 41 jersey in high school because of him IIRC .now when Dirk cut his vacation to convince him to come and say he is ready to pass the torch to him ,that count for something
Look ,I didn’t see him coming for the reasons said here .but on a hindsight NBA right now is more and more about ball movement from the whole team and having a PG who can average 10 assist isn’t as important as it was decade ago
We played better with Jameer Nelson than with Rondo
The Mavs are very good in ball movement and will provide DJ with those easy dunks .more important we will have 4 players around him who can space the floor .Griffin is gr8 but he doesn’t space the floor like Dirk .that would give DeAndre more room for offensive game
Doc River is gr8 coach no doubt .but Rick Carlisle right now is widely considered 2nd best coach in the league after Gregg Popovich .so having him as your coach is good
The Mavs might be awful in drafting .but we have very good organization otherwise.there is very good chance we can build a good team with DJ having a bigger role than his own with the Clippers in the long term0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/08/2015 - 4:23am #999028
