Reports say he signed with spurs, if they get Mo Williams to play back up pg . Honestly think this game can win close to 70 games next year. Really hate they had to let cory go I loved his change off pace when tony was out.

I still believe in Kyle Anderson. I don’t think he’s a three, I think he’s a PG, and I still think he can run that show in a couple years with Kawhi and LaMarcus when the Parisian Torpedo has finally had enough.

People really sleep on Kyle Anderson. He had one of the best all around seasons that I have ever seen when he was at UCLA. He reminds of Jalen Rose in that he’s not a great athlete but he has good control when he is in the air and can change his shot if he needs to. To me he’s the best natural passer that I’ve seen on the spurs in 25 years. He tore up the summer league last year with an improved jump shot.

They are going to be hard to beat night in and not out with that ridiculous depth. Kyle is perfect for the system, I just wonder how long before they give him some pt, because right now they don’t really have to

Wow. You add an improved Kawai Leonard to that team and the Spurs being absurd is an understatement. If the Spurs, Cavs, OKC and Golden State stay healthy all year along with the other over 45 win teams, there will be multiple teams next year that will struggle to win 15 freaking games. Ridiculous.

Oh man, the Spurs will be a nightmare matchup next year. Picking up David West for the minimum is enormous.

They just need to add a backup small forward and center.  Manu announced that he was returning so that helps their depth.  Have to respect David West for turning down his 12mil dollar option to sign for vet minimum with the Spurs.  I think it’s awesome he’s willing to take a lesser role and a huge paycut for a chance at a championship.

This franchise is just too good. I got nothing else to say.

They still need to add a backup center imo. Right now Duncan is the only center on their roster and he is almost 40 and I’m sure will be on a mins restriction for a good portion of the season. Aldridge has been adamant in the past that he prefers to play exclusively at pf. West is a very nice addition but they still need one more big imo after losing splitter and baynes.

With David West onboard they have effectively replaced Splitter’s frontcourt minutes and they have the option to use Boris Diaw in there if they go smallball when Duncan is on the bench.

As regards another C, I wonder if someone like Amare Stoudamire would take some sort of exception to try and have a run at a title. Could Emeka Okafor be over his neck issues enough to be an option too.

I wouldn’t mind emeka okafor signing, I forgot about him lol. But he was always good defensive big and could help with the Spurs depth. As we saw with golden state don’t always need to haves so many bigs in this small ball era in the nba. but okafor would still provide good depth for this Spurs team. I could even see diaw playing spot minutes at centre.

He took an $11 million paycut to get a ring… I hope he gets it. Major respect to David West. He did nothing but teach lessons about how to be a man, both on and off the court, while here in Indy.

Adding West will be huge for their depth and versatility, as they can mix and match their frontcourt pairings with four very good players (Aldridge, West, Duncan, Diaw), who can all play with each other. As far as their depth for next year, they should sign some minor additional pieces but overall their depth is solid. Right now their depth chart looks like this:

    PG Parker – Mills
    SG Green – Ginobili – R. Williams
    SF Leonard – Anderson
    PF Aldridge – West
    C Duncan – Diaw

As far as their remaining needs, there are basically three needs (possible players):
    – Third, young PG (Shannon Scott, Jimmer Fredette)
    – Shooting SG/SF (Wayne Blackshear, Luigi Datome)
    – Back-up C (Jeff Ayres, Cole Aldrich, Jean-Charles Livion)

I love that West took a paycut, but it seems like when he looks back on this in a couple of years when the checks stop coming he will wish he had the extra 11 million. I really respect him giving up all that money to try and get a ring, but those checks don’t keep coming forever. He seems like a smart guy and has more money than he knows what to do with I’m sure but it’s really rare to see someone that hasn’t been a max contract guy his whole career to leave that kind of money on the table.

The chances are that he’ll  make some of it back next summer when the salary cap explodes. I think he’ll re-sign with the Spurs and they’ll definitely take care of him.

He can sign a new deal with the Spurs in due course – I’m not sure when he would be able to extend but I’d imagine they could well do it at sometime in the season.

Full respect to David for taking such a big pay cut when he could have easily stayed with the Pacers and maybe looked for a trade around deadline day if the Pacers decided to move forward in a different way or easily he could have taken this type of contract next season.
