bluedevils12ParticipantNow that the season is over and everyone is getting ready 4 the summer give me your top 5 players at every position. Now i understand alot of these are debatable but here’s my list(i understand if u cant do centers):
pg: Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Chauncey billups, Tony Parker, and Rajon Rondo
sg: Kobe bryant, Dwyane wade, Brandon Roy, Ray Allen, and Joe Johnson
sf:Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, Paul Pierce, Hedo Turkoglu, Kevin Durant
pf: Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Pau Gasol, Dirk Nowitzki, and David West
C: Dwight Howard, Shaq, Yao Ming, Nene, Al Jefferson0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/03/2009 - 7:36pm #175516

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantDurant is better than Turkoglu and I don’t think Rondo is top 5 material. Steve Nash should be on the list or Derrick Rose.

dwat4444ParticipantI agree with you on the majority of your list except I don’t think KG is top 5 anymore. He’s only a 16 point guy now and that avg. will go down. To me there are many PF’s better than him like Aldrige and also Okafor is better than Nene. Mo williams should replace Rondo or maybe nash/rose too.

unaznizedParticipantu put Kevin Love over power forwards such as Boozer, Bosh, David West, Pau Gasol, man must I go on? for all we know, Kevin Love may go down as one of the busts from the 2008 NBA Draft.
and regarding McGrady, you’re right, people did debate between kobe and him. and you’re also right about another thing, this debate was a FEW YEARS AGO. McGrady’s legs are hurt and if he has no legs he has no elevation, and if he has no elevation, his jump shot is not as efficient as it was A FEW YEARS ago.

rvirsalParticipantI’ll be taking into consideration stats, overall play and ability to stay on the court (that means, redd, ginobili, boozer won’t make the list, you can’t do anything if you can’t get to the court). also, i’d base it in their overall production last season.

sheltwon3ParticipantInteresting list there are some people on the list that make me go huh. Johny Salmons is nice but Honorable mention in a top five shooting guard. I don’t see it. He has never been consistence enough but I do believe he has that potential but so do a lot of shooting guards from last years draft.

HM) NeneBig Al is getting no love…no one remembers he put up 23ppg 11rpg 1.7 bpg and just under a steal per game before he got injured. The man is playing out of position at center… has no pg to set him up with the ball… and was the focus of the defense on every night which makes those numbers even more rediculous. I know alot of people dont pay attention to the T-Wolves, but I’ll come out and say it, other the Tim Duncan… Al Jefferson has the best low post moves in the game. Al has a bag full of tricks he pulls out including a jab step..drop step.. baby hook with either hand..and a nice sweeping hook from the left block across the lane … great at using the glass…. plus he always has a counter if you stop his initial move. He barely gets off of the ground when he jumps.. yet he finds a way to score on the likes of the Duncan, Shaq, Howard, and Yao. I can definately see making an argument for the four players I just listed, but it is just disrespect putting Nene, Bynum, or up and comer Lopez ahead of him…. now that I got that out of my system

illinimanmarkParticipantWith the way Andrew Bynum disappeared at times in the postseason, having him in the top 5 doesn’t make sense.

bluedevils12Participanti think i need 2 explain my reasoning 4 why i put guys where or why i left guys off
Rajon compared to nash and rose: I did that becuz i personally feel nash fell off this season. nash is obviously best suited 4 the uptempo offense and shaq kinda clogged that up. also with amare being out i think his production def went down. Rose had a really solid rookie season but i feel rondo simply jus outshined him. Rondo and his triple doubles and his having more experience i feel outdid rose. not 2 say rose wont be beter than rondo but as of this year rondo has the edge. Look at thier playoff series. it was great 2 watch but rondo won and went on 2 keep playin well.
Ray allen: caught a lil heat fr putting him on hear but think about the playoff series against the bulls, all the clutch shots he hit, and how he helped keep boston in the playoff race when KG went down. wouldnt u want the guy on ur team?
Al jefferson: i like that someone brought up jefferson cuz i felt like he was a top 3 center before he got hurt. this guy has an all star game but really gets no shine becuz he’s in the western conference playing 4 a cellar dweller.
Amare: i love the guy but i didnt feel like he was top 5 worthy this year while shaq was on his team. Shaq and amare simply jus cant coexist. shaq’s game clashes with amare and that was a reason for amare’s slip this season. the eye injury also made me kinda 4 get about amare.
Hedo vs granger: it was a tough decision 4 me but i left granger off becuz of the magic’s success this season. hedo was a big part of that as was rashard and dwight.
and finally kg: now i kno some of u feel kg isnt a top 5 player anymore but i put him on becuz of the presence he brings 2 a team and when he is needed he makes things happen. kg is still the same dominant player but watching celtics game this year u could see the ofense was predicated more to ray paul and rajon. hell they even dumped the ball down 2 perkins a lil bit. point being u can be on a stacked team and still be a dominant player.
