I’m a huge Celtic fan, but I typically follow 2-3 teams just as much, and I have to say, I just added the Bucks to my list! I love the moves they have made this past year and offseason, and I can’t help but dream about what the team could eventually turn into. Last year they were 4th in defense, and were a surprising 41-41, and they can only get better.

They will most likely be throwing out a rotation of:

    Monroe-Zaza-Plumlee

    Antetokounmpo-Henson

    Parker-Butler

    Middleton-Mayo

    MCW-Vazquez

That team has a nice array of versatility, size, and defense. I think the Bucks future is solely dependant on whether or not Parker can become that consistent 20 ppg scorer we all think he can be, and if Giannis can become a consistent 3rd option player.

I like the fact that they added Greg Monroe, and think this is the perfect team for him. The Bucks were 24th in Rebounding last year, and Monroe will be able to come in and help them out right away in that department. Bucks did a great job getting teams to miss shots last year, but they let up 938 offensive rebounds for the year, good for 9th worse in the entire NBA. Monroe has a defensive reboundign rate of 22% which is great, so you can expect the Bucks to quell some teams on the glass.

I also like the fact that Monroe is a great passing big, as the Bucks were 7th in the league in AST’s, and 7th in FG%. This means the Bucks were taking and making a lot of good shots, and adding another solid passer to an already great passing team is going to be fun to watch.

I think we’re going to see some solid lineups from Kidd this year, as he’s going to have the ability to run out the shot blocking Henson out there with Monroe, or go all out small ball like he did a lot this year.

I’m excited to see what Parker can do this year, as his injury was pretty serious. I think he’s the big key to the Bucks sucess. I also want to see if Middleton can become a good 2nd option similar to what Butler did for CHI this year. He’s proved he’s one of the best shooters in the NBA the past two seasons, shooting over 40% from three on a decent volume. If he can add any type of iso game the Bucks could be a scary team.

What do you guys think of the Bucks?

I like that Antetokounmpo is now basically the 4th option offensively on that team. He will be asked to score in transition and on easy baskets off cuts and mismatches. But really Parker, Middleton, Monroe and MCW can probably create enough offence in the half court for him to not have to force anything offensively.

The team doesn’t have a lot of shooters and has several players (MCW and Giannis) with very unorthodox offensive games. It will be very interesting to see how Kidd uses them.

I thought honestly Chandler would be the best fit for them since they have zero rim protection with Monroe and Parker in the frontcourt. Also, if they would have signed Chandler, that would be music to the ears to Jabari and Ginannis since they will officialy be scoring options 1 and 2 and the others would just play off of them.

At least Monroe fills up well that hole in the 5 spot that Kidd always gives to freakin Zaza Pacchulia. Solid signing, but I do not know how they will fare on the defensive end particularly rim protection.

In terms of fit, Monroe has found the perfect team for him. He is surrounded by tall, verstatile defenders which will ease the burden on Monroe to defend the rim. Moreover, they have Henson coming from the bench who is a good rim protector (weak side). On offense, Monroe will fit right in with the versatility the Bucks have all around with his passing.

Caron Butler was waived, J Dudley was traded, they still have some money to spend if they want on new players, the Bucks are a very interesting team now.

Pachulia, Henson and Plumlee off the bench, that is some important size.  One of the best backup point guards, or maybe two of the best backup point guards with J Bayless there too.  Vaughn the draft pick, good depth.

Not that they have the stars, but they are deep like the Warriors.

From the reports it looks like a new arena will be built soon.

It all depends on J Parker, they don’t have anyone to give the ball to at the end of a close game and he is someone expected to develop into that type of player.  From his shooting numbers in college and last season before his injury, he should be ready soon.

The bigger question is how the Bucks got a max-money free agent center, Monroe, when the Lakers and Knicks and other teams had the same money to give them.

Wow. The Bucks just went from flavor of the month surprise team to a legit home court advantage playoff team if they stay healthy of course. I will say that they are a little light in the britches at the PF spot and could use a low cost stretch four there to complement Monroe’s scoring and passing at center. They will improve even if Parker and Giannis don’t improve as players, which we all pretty much know they will improve. Really exciting squad.

I disagree, I think both Parker and Giannis are capable of playing the stretch role for MIL, and Monroe can play the 4 if Kidd wants a big lineup. I think the 4 spot is actually the position they are most stacked at, as Giannis played 41% of his minutes at the 4, Jabari 10%, and both players are still growing into their bodies. Giannis is most likely going to be their starting 4 of the future, as he’s a solid 6’11 220 at only 20 years of age. In a year or two I could see him being a Paul Millsap type player were he is a power forward who gets a lot of offense off of the mismatch he provides on offense with his speed and perimeter skills. Parker has the body of a SF, and that’s his most natural position, so all the pieces will fall into place.

I still like the Bucks bench though of Mayo/Henson/Plumlee/Vasquez and if Vaughn can turn into any kind of role player/rotation player who adds some scoring off the bench, than that team is very formible.

I was skeptical of the Kidd hire, but in hindsight, it was the best thing for Milwaukee.  The new stadium doesn’t hurt but he really helps in attracting players to the Bucks.  This has been repeated several times, but Parker becoming a consistent 20+ point a night guy is the key.  I really like the future of the Bucks.

Rashad Vaughn should get some minutes right away because of his shooting ability.

This team could be very dangerous. You know what you’re going to get out Monroe but the other guys, I believe, have not reached anywhere close to their full potential.

I don’t think Giannis will ever be a good shooter though

Giannis is already a good FT shooter and Mid-range shooter. I think the main thing he’s lacking to shoot threes is strengths at this point.

The Bucks look to have a great young core, 3 key starters are still on rookie deals and we are only starting to scratch the surface of what Giannis and Jabari are capable of. Greg Monroe must have been very inpressed to have signed for them being a sought after FA.

It will be interesting to see how they share around the shots next season as you have MCW as the ball carrier, Giannis and Jabari can use the ball, Middleton will need shots and Monroe will certainly want his share of the ball in the paint and mid range.

I think we have to give this team time, don’t expect a 50 win plus season immediately, they should be above .500 but last season they made a huge leap forward so next year things may level off a bit.

I do kind of agree that if the Bucks are going to become legit contenders they will need someone like Jabari to become a 20ppg player but if you think what Atlanta did last year, the Bucks could be a team that rea;lly shares the scoring out and achieves success. The only issue there is that in mega games in a play off run you may not have a prime option who you want to have the ball e.g a LBJ, Curry, KD, Harden etc.

So I sort of think that Jabari could still be the key to this team’s long term success.
