BleedGreen808ParticipantThe Sixers and Kings have reached a trade agreement to send Carl Landy, Jason Thompson, and Nik Stauskas to Philly. The Sixers will send the draft rights to oversea players in exchange. The Kings are reportedly doing this in a salary dump to pursue free agents. The Kings seem to be such a mess. Just last year the Kings owner made the team take Stauskas and now they’re dumping him for what appears to be nothing in return.

BleedGreen808ParticipantThe Sixers definitely get a steal in this trade as long as they don’t give up Saric. Stauskas brings some much needed shooting and he’ll get plenty of playing time for the Sixers. The Kings really should have taken Elfrid Payton like they wanted to.

SmooveKRYPTParticipantSam Hinkie just fleeced the Kings!
According to Zach Lowe, the 76ers got a protected 1st rounder, plus the right to swap firsts with the Kings in 2 future drafts just to take this salary dump + Stauskas.

EndlessknightParticipantIt all depends on what the Sixers gave up, given how big the haul is I’m thinking they gave up Saric. (If they didn’t the Kings GM needs to be fired)

This could end up being Nets/Celtics bad

CameronCrazy11ParticipantI heard they’re interested in Monta Ellis too. Apparently they’re going to try to "outbid" the Pacers for him. If I’m Monta, there’s no way I’m going to Sacramento if Rondo is there. We already saw how that experiment worked out in Dallas. Probably biased being from Indy, but with Indy switching to a faster paced offense and the Pacers need for a quality scoring 2 guard, Indiana is the best place for Ellis.

EndlessknightParticipantDo you actually watch the Sixers? People online love to bash the Sixers but its often obvious they don’t actually watch them play. The Sixers are a fun team to follow. No they’re not that talented but they all play hard and play for the team. The one selfish player they had, MCW, was traded as soon a good offer could be found.
The Sixers have no bone head thugs, no bad attitude Cousins nor any Kobe’s screaming at team mates while he misses two-thirds of his shot. I’m sure Stauskas will enjoy playing in Philly more than Sacramento

Bed HeadParticipantChris Broussard, Jeff Goodman, etc are lying when they say no one wants to play in Philly? Why would they do that? For what purpose?
And yes, I’ve seen the 76ers play (boyfriend’s from that area). Not that they were necessarily worth watching (outside of Noel).

EndlessknightParticipantIf they actually said it then yes, I think they are lying. It’s lazy journalism 101. Make a provocative statement that no one would every call you on, and even if they did no one would ever expect you to offer proof. I mean to say "no one" wants to play for the Sixers implies they have spoken to everyone, which we all know is a lie. If they mean top tier free agents don’t want to join the Sixers, then who cares ’cause the Sixers don’t want to sign top tier free agents yet.
None of the Sixers players complained about playing for the team and MCW outright publicly whined when he was traded. The Sixers might lack talent/wins but they are a well run team with a upbeat positive young core that all gets along. No malcontents, no whiners or thugs, no Kobe-like bullies. It’s a great place to for a young player to develop.

Ad1977ParticipantRobbery. Trade pick47 and 60 for the 8th pick last year plus the first and option to swap firsts two years. Sixers wanted Stauskas last year and even though he struggled he has a lot of potential to be a good shooter fro the Sixers. Stauskas has the potential to create space for NOEL and Okafor and I can see big Jah kickin it out to him for threes in the corner. Great pickup

Memphis MadnessParticipantI even like Tokoto as an athletic, defensive wing.
this team might actually be solid next year.
Wroten at point. Stauskas, Tokoto, and some others on the wing with Noel, Embiid, and Okafor inside.
They also have the first rounder of the Knicks West (Lakers).

skingzParticipantthe funny thing about projections is there is no guarantees…cash is no guarantee you will sign somone but it betters your chances especially in sac…if anyone got screwed its the lakers who were trying to make a salary dump.. do you guys really think that thompson/landry/stauskas is better than any 2 out of rondo/matthews/ellis/lawson/afflalo/beverly/brewer
you guys are pretending that stauskas is gonna be in the hall of fame when what he will be is gordon hayward and thats his max…maybe more shooting less creativity (i like hayward but lets be real he wont be in the hof unless he goes to cleveland/spurs/warriors/okc and gets his ring game up). stauskas is the sixers best 2 guard today (wroten plays pg right?)
crazy to think it wasnt too long ago sixers had iverson mutombo and reached the nba finals which sacramento never did…you can say it wasnt too long ago about any team that is not in contention for a chip in the nba and has existed for at least 15 years..
the kings were in shambles with that idiot the ass alejandro (pete d’allessandro) but there is a new sheriff in town…lets see how this plays out you guys are the same guys giving draft grades as soon as the picks are made…thomas robinson recieved an A grade from several sources when drafted by sac…fast fwd he’s been on 4 teams, rode the bench on all of them and is currently on what team? 1776ers! is philly planning to play 4 forwards and wroten or something?

EndlessknightParticipantThe way it’s being reported now is:
Sixers receive: Nik Stauskas, Carl Landry, Jason Thompson, Protected 2018 1st (earliest), rights to swap 2016 1st (if T-10), rights to swap 2017 1st (if T-10)
Kings receive: Arturas Gudaitis (47th pick), Luka Mitrovic (60th pick).
This could end up being even better than the Jrue trade. Stauskas really came on the 2nd half of the season, shooting 42.1% from the arc after the all-star break. Really looking forward to having him in Philly.

machu46ParticipantIf it’s just the 2016 and 2017 picks that they get to swap, this isn’t quite as good a deal as it sounded before since Philly will likely be just as bad or worse these next two years. Still a great trade for them though even if Stauskas was pitiful as a rookie.

EndlessknightParticipantNo one cares about Thompson and Landry, it’s highly likely that one if not both will be waved before the season even starts. Stauskas on the other hand was the 8th overall pick just last year and played very well once Karl was hired.
Stauskas shot 42.1% from beyond the arc post all-star break. He’s only 21 and still has a lot of upside and the Kings just gave him away, along with potenially high draft picks, for nothing. I mean absolutly nothing. Just the slim chance to sign an aging well known malcontent like Rondo. And even if they sign Rondo I still don’t think they’ll make the payoffs in the loaded West.
Which much more likely to happen is that there will be some kind of Rondo/Cousins/Karl fued that leads to Karl quitting or getting fired. Thus the Kings will have start all over with a new coach but with one less young player and less draft picks.

skingzParticipant13 million reasons care…kings were gonna sign rondo regardless they need one more legit player…quit listening to agents making up fairy tales to push an agenda (dan fegan)…by the way did you see okafor purposely drop his jersey at the press conference? he definetly wants to be in philly
0- Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2015 - 9:37pm #996970
EndlessknightParticipantWhat fairy tales? That Rondo is a mal-content? Man that has been reported far to many places for far to long for it to be a made up planted story. And even if he wasn’t a head case he’ll be 30 this year and coming off his worse season ever. Any team stupid enough to give him a long term big money deal deserve what they get.
As for the Sixers, the 13 million mean nothing to them, they have to pay it out one way or another to reach the salary cap floor. Same with JaVale Mcgee this season, who was waived shortly after he was acquired in a trade.
Not only did the Kings give up Stauskas and a future first round pick but they also gave the Sixers the right to flip picks. That means if the Kings win the lottery next season its the Sixers who get the #1 pick (And even then the Kings would still owe the Sixers a first round pick)
As for the Okafor thing, that was so overblown. Later on he was seen walking around Philly in a Dr. J jersey interacting with fans

sitlbitoParticipantSpacing being one of the main problems of the sixers last year,Stauskas can certainly help with that. And even with the Philadelphia tankathon happening,I’d rather play in Philly than in Sacramento right now. He’s gonna put up A LOT of threes.

Edgecat20ParticipantI wonder how much Hinkie will get fined by the NBA this time for taking advantage of another team?

Sewok15ParticipantI love how after the draft everyone was trashing the Sixers and Hinkie…they have no guards….they need shooting. Then Boom in once swoop he gets a player who probably would have been the best shooter in this draft…and a future first rounder for nothing. It is clear this guy always has a plan and knows what he is doing…so next time he does something that looks a bit fishy give him some time before you start bashing him.

220ParticipantI have to admit when Hinkie took the third big man in the second round I was feeling dumbfounded. I thought for sure there would be more than one of those guys traded on draft night and I was surprised when only one moved. I didn’t expect to see this trade happening. It’s a great move for the Sixers and the only real requirement was having cap space available. I remember after the draft last year Brett Brown said he was expecting to get Stauskas so I imagine he’s pleased with this move particularly since it didn’t cost them anything.
