There are press stories that Anthony Davis’s new deal could be worth $145 million over 5 years when it kicks in next summer and Damian Lillard’s deal could be $120 million at same time. The exact figures are yet known as they will be based on a percentage of that year’s cap figure related to the player’s years in the NBA and the so called "Derrick Rose" rule.

If these figures are correct I wonder how much the new deals for the likes of  LBJ ( if we assume he takes another one year deal as per his stated intention), KD etc next season could be worth and then the likes of Curry and Westbrook in 2017.

Anthony Davis is definitely worth that contract.  As are Curry and Westbrook.  Max those guys out.  But LeBron is 30 and will be 31 during next season.  He has a TON of mileage.  He will PROBABLY get a MAX DEAL but he would probably be overpaid towards the end of the 5 year deal.

So LeBron signs a 1 year deal for this season, then next year signs a 5 Year MEGA DEAL.  He will be 36 in the final year of that deal.  How much will he be worth then?  You give LeBron a 5 year deal to get him, to win you another couple of rings, then you just suffer the consequences at the back end of the deal.

Kevin Durant is a bit younger than LeBron and has fewer miles, BUT he is coming off injuries.  He will ALSO get a MEGA DEAL, but… I don’t know.

Can the Thunder afford him AND Westbrook?

Maybe they have a decision to make…

Well if LeBron wins you a "couple of rings" it will be more than worth it, especially for the Cavs who have never won a championship in the first place… I feel like LeBron can still put up around 22-6-6 as he progresses to 34-35, and with his leadership and Basketball IQ, his impact will beyond the numbers he puts up.

LeBron’s next season will be his 13th right?

So a 5 year deal after that has him locked in until his 18th season.  That would be uncharted Kobe-style mileage but with perhaps another 3 or 4 (or more) Finals thrown in there.  Probably the 2016 Olympic team, too.

LeBron will get paid, but his value will be TWICE as much at the beginning of the contract, while at the end maybe he is a 3rd option behind Irving and Love…

LeBron could very well eclipse $200 million on a 5yr deal if he takes the 1+1 this year, then opts out and goes long-term max next summer.

LeBron stands to benefit by doing the 1+1 until the collective bargaining agreement is renegotiated.  The NBPA is going to push to remove the individual salary ceiling, so LeBron may be making something like $60 million in 2018.  The cap will be around $108 in 2017, hard to guess what 2018 would be, maybe $115 if more standard raises are reinstituted.

Does LeBron want to win a title IN Cleveland, FOR Cleveland or does he just want to get paid?

i think they STILL need help at the 2.  Their bench needs to be upgraded too.
