So it is said that the Pacers are closing in on a 3 year 32 million deal for Monta Ellis. If this goes through, no doubt their making it to the playoffs next year with he and George there.

On a side note, how in hell does a borderline all-star like Monta who is in his prime get WAY less money than guys like Carroll or Green? Not saying those two don’t deserve it but, the signings this offseason at least for me and to say the least are weird.

Okay I hear green is also making 11 million a year, so he is on the same level as Monta.. I still think Carroll is a bit too overpaid though.

Monta is a liability on D..undersized shooting guard, that’s why he gets a smaller contract.

I think he may have lost money due to the rumors that he caused chemistry issues and had problems in the locker room.

The fact he’s an undersized ball dominant shooting guard with bad D and a shaky three point shot brought his value down. He’s still an electric scorer

Monta is way harder to fit into a team than the other 3 and D guys. On this team, Monta is a better Rodney Stuckey.

"On a side note, how in hell does a borderline all-star like Monta who is in his prime get WAY less money than guys like Carroll or Green? "Because he doesn’t help you win playoffs series like these guys do. By the way I was wondering, isn’t Monta Ellis always a free agent when he comes off a not so good season? He was a free agent after the milwaukee mess, now he’s a free agent after the Rondo mess in Dallas.

Monta should never be your 1st option, but he’s a great scorer. The problem is that he’s basically a point guard offensively. He does not play off the ball. So you need to pair him with a tall guard who can play off the ball. I guess George Hill is kinda a meh complement… I’ve seen worse (hey Rondo, I’m looking at you).

Double post, but I’ll add in that he turned down more money from the Kings. Can’t say I blame him.

i thought monta played smarter and more efficient offensively last year. Good signing for pacers. still wouldnt call the pacers a lock to make playoffs. We have to see PG and how he looks, but even if hes in top form there are some questino marks about their bigs. Other teams in the east are making moves as well. If the heat keep wade, i think thats a team that creeps up into the playoffs.

Yea, the Pacers still have a few holes to fill on their roster. According to Vogel, Paul George is 100% healed (from the broken leg and the calf injury) and is only shaking off the rust. He’s been going hard for some time now.

There’s a report that Dallas could trade for Roy Hibbert (salary dump for the Pacers) if they don’t land DeAndre Jordan, which would open up even more money for the Pacers.
