This will be a fascinating case study if Orlando does indeed go with Super Mario, especially if Justise Winslow or Kristaps Prozingis are still on the board.

The past two drafts, GM Rob Hennigan has placed a huge amount of emphasis one the 1 on 1 interview process. Something Victor Oladip, Elfrid Payton, & Aaron Gordon all share in common (outside of raw athleticism & defense) is that they are very high character-team first players. Their teammates enjoy taking the court with them, and for the most part their egos seem to be in check.

Enter Mario Hezonja! Confidence he does not lack.. but their are concerns about how good of a teammate & locker room guy he is. And again, Hezonja would be the first lottery selection that Hennigan hasn’t really gotten to know on a personal basis.

Selecting Hezonja would be a swing for the fences pick. Personally I feel he needs to work on his dribble-drive creativity, consistency on defense, and P&R facilitation the most, but the range/frame/athleticism are there for him to have an explosive career. Let’s just hope his teammates don’t try to kill him! Whether thats in Orlando or a few spots later in the lottery

Hezonja will be drafted by Knicks, if the Knicks keep the pick

I too think they’ll go sf as I don’t see them matching any high offers for Harris. In my mock I would have Johnson over Hezonja and Winslow. Orlando seems to zero in on their type of guys regardless of how we rank them to others. Johnson can at the least be a very good 3 and d player, like Winslow, but with his size advantage I think he’s better suited to guard sfs than Winslow. I mean, if they are to contend, they’ll have to go through Lebron. Aside from Gordon, would you rather throw Johnson or Winslow on him? Payton-Oladipo-Johnson all have lock down defense potential.

I doubt it, especially considering they just hired skiles as coach. Hezonja just doesn’t seem like a skiles type of player.

Yeah, totally agree. But its too bad, cuz Orlando really is a starting shooter away from challenging in for a playoff spot in the lowly east. Winslow and Skiles almost seems like a match made in heaven

I think they will draft the Latvian to compliment Nikola Vucevic. They are missing a real PF. Tobias is a SF. Peyton PG. Agreed they will still lack the SG position but i think this is their best option for success. Young and mobile team at all positions

Uh, think the Magic are set at the guard spots with SG Oladipo and PG Peyton.

Hezonja would play SF on the Magic at 6’8" and be the best SF they have.

You are right i forgot about Oladipio, but Tobais is better at SF than Hezonja

Personally I feel HArris is good at both forward spots depending on the matchup but I think Orlando is the best fit for Hezonja. He is exactly the kind of player they are lacking beeing 6’9" in shoes and very explosive.

To me Elfrid, Dipo, Fournier and Hezonja could be a very special rotation and I expect a close to breakout season from Dipo and very solid numbers from Evan Fournier.

All they are lacking is ine explosive wing. Justise is another strong option here but he is not the scorer Mario is and this might not really work here.
